FAQs about hotels in San Sebastián

Amazing Coastline and Historical Beauty

San Sebastian is a famous beach resort in the north of Spain with picturesque coastline, vibrant nightlife and amazing Basque gastronomy.

Playa de la Concha is one of the world’s most popular city beaches, ideal for watersports lovers. Rent a surfboard on Zurriola beach or just relax on a cosy lounge chair under your umbrella.

Established as the culinary capital of Spain, San Sebastian features a variety of bars and restaurants serving delicious pintxos (Basque-style tapas), fresh seafood and fine wine. According to Spanish tradition, you should have one tapa and a wine in one bar, then move on to the next bar.

The tree-covered hill standing just across the gulf is called Urgull and offers spectacular views over the bay and city. Situated at the bottom of it, Parte Vieja is the old part of the town where you can mix with the locals and visit some of the city’s most interesting historical attractions.

San Sebastian Airport is located 20 km east, so it's a short journey into the city itself. Booking.com offers a choice of accommodation ranging from luxury hotels to guest houses, apartments and budget hostels.

The city is pretty and clean.

The city is pretty and clean. The food is excellent and varied leaning heavily to sea food. It is easy enough to walk around, there is taxi service for some of the attractions not downtown e.g. the stadium. Let me say, however, it is not as inexpensive as other places in Spain. Food can be pricey, especially some of the sampling meals in the restaurants. My Spanish is pretty okay, but, believe me Basque is not at all similar, fortunately, most menus, etc. are written in Spanish, French and English as well. The people are friendly and will work with you.

Beautiful city with amazing beaches, charming architecture, tons of amazing spots for pintxos, and a laid-back vibe. Public buses worked fine and there were taxis readily available during the day, but it's small enough to walk almost anywhere.

Loved San Sebastian and will return. Apartment was really well placed for the beach - pity we didn't see there was beach chairs till we were packing to leave. Very spacious and airy and good for drying clothes in the little courtyard - could have done with having some info leaflets about SS. We took a boat to the island and the atmosphere there was amazing - I would definitely recommend!

Beautiful city beside spectacular beaches and scenery. Great shopping, great food and friendly people. I could live there easily! It rains a little more there than other parts of Spain but there's so much going on it doesn't really matter. It's a place you can enjoy no matter the weather.

I loved the fact that there are 3 beaches in the city. And some options for long or short hikes. Also great for running or rollerblading. Apparently famous for surfing. Cycle paths everywhere. Parts of town pedestrianised. Grand buildings, very tidy.

With its interesting history and ease of accessibility San Sebastian is a great place to visit. If you are into surfing there is a great beach. The best thing that we enjoyed was the food. If you like tapas then multiply that by 10 and enjoy the Basque equivalent called pintxos. There are so many bars serving it on the tourist area but a little bit of exploration will take you to places where the locals eat. We hardly ate a main course but just ordered a variety of pintxos and were never disappointed.

Very smooth check in even though we were a bit early. Previously had a room at the rear, this time we had street view which was nice too. A bit more noise, but that is to be expected in Spain, & it was all part of the atmosphere, seeing people at the pavement tables beneath. Location is excellent, its an easy 10-15 minute walk to the bus station. ( bus to Bilbao airport is €17 ), and 7 mins or so to the fabulous old town pinxto bars. Hope to be back sometime soon!

A spotlessly clean, quiet, spacious room in a boutique hotel which is located within 10/15 minutes walk of the old town, promenade and beach. A good breakfast was included in the price and tea/ coffee was available for free in the lobby. Secure parking was available to park our car which had expensive bikes on the back. We arrived earlier than expected but the welcoming, helpful receptionist allowed us to check in early, which was greatly appreciated.

We quickly found out after booking tickets to San Sebastian that it was not a cheap city at all for hotels. Pension Ondarra offers excellent value and quality, plus I much prefer to be in this neighborhood where more locals live, but only a 10 minute walk or so to the old town. The check in and access was all really easy, the room was spacious and clean, plus a little terrace to relax on... Would definitely recommend!

The BEST location possible! The hotel has an amazing bar/restaurant looking over the ocean, which is hard to find in San Sebastián. The hotel is part of a chain, and we have stayed at other hotels in their system elsewhere in Spain. It's a good twenty minute walk to the hear of the old city, but otherwise it was clean and efficient. The front desk staff spoke our language (English), and were happy to provide maps and call cabs and such. The restaurant was quite nice and the food good.

Perfect location, out of the bustle but close enough to walk into the old town and port area. Very friendly and efficient welcome, parking easy in the underground car park, although tight squeeze at the entrance if you have a larger car. Our room was quite small but the location is great - basically it is in the Old town. The small/narrow balcony is the good addition. The parking is near by though it is expensive even with some discount that that provided by the hotel (it is around 20 euro per day) but any parking in San Sebastian is expensive.
