Hotel Villa del Lago, hotel in Flores

Hotel Villa del Lago is located on the island of Flores, right on Lake Peten Itza. It features excellent lake views, in addition to free WiFi.

The location and price cost ratio is really good. The bed and room was comfortable. We liked the view to the lake and it is possible to use the pool of two other hotels that are located at the other side of the street! Really cool! Every day they make the bed and provide new towels, really good. At the breakfast it’s possible to select between different options, where the American breakfast was the best choice (including fruits)

La Posada De Don Jose, hotel in Flores

This beachfront Island of Flores hotel is 6 minutes’ walk from the Embarcadero boat pier and the Flores bust terminal.

The location is great because it is quiet, unlike many hotels in Flores. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable The lobby has been renovated and is very nice. Hopefully the rooms will get updated too. There's nothing wrong, but they could use a re-paint, new furniture etc. Air-conditioning works well, wifi is excellent. Sheets and towels were clean.

The area of Flores is lovely and fun to explore.

The area of Flores is lovely and fun to explore. It is not a large area so if you are looking for days of exploring you need to go elsewhere. If you are looking for a relaxed, yet charming, few days then this is where to go.

    Beautiful little island, very lively!

Beautiful little island, very lively! The bright colors of the building and the nice sunset views by the water are a great + to this place, and it is very easy to get around I recommend trying out the street food @tacospeches, very good and super cheap The town is located 1h30 drive from the ruins of Tikal, and up to 6 shuttles leave daily to get you there Would recommend around 3 days in Flores!

The island has really noce restaurants and night activities.

The island has really noce restaurants and night activities. it is really easy to get around and people is willing to help you with directions. Prices are much higher on the island, so is better to buy the stuff you need (sun block for example) outside of Flores. We had a local guide that took us for the sunrise on tikal were you get to enter the park at 4AM and walk in the jungle still at night. Then we did the sunset in Yaxha which is amazing. Flores is a 10 min drive from the airport, so its a really good point for staying.

Loved the walk around Flores and all the little shops.

Loved the walk around Flores and all the little shops. Great ice cream place on lakeshore. Yummy ! When we got tired from walking after 5 miles that day( not all there) we hired a tuk tuk to bring us back to the hotel. Will definitely be returning there for a longer stay. Boat tours looked interesting for a future adventure. We drove and had to get used to the one way streets to get around Flores and find our hotel but so worth the effort. Parking was not an issue though. We parked at hotel and took off on foot

    Airlines are a mess.

Airlines are a mess. Avianca overbooked my flight into Flores and was booked the next day. Tag Airlines delayed 2 hours and 15 minutes my flight into Guatemala City. I have been seating at the airport in Flores over 4 hours and I am expected to get to Guatemala City around 0:30 Am (I was supposed to arrive at 10:15 pm)

The island of flores is small and easy to walk. sunset views...

The island of flores is small and easy to walk. sunset views are very good from rooftop bars / restaurants. All are within 5 -10 minute walk. We chose to take a lake ride to El Mirador and then to the beach Playa Chechenal. Many sites are available to take day trips .These can be very long days especially to Tikal. We went to Tikal independently and it is highly recommended. I would recommend at least 1 night if not two. We stayed inside the park at Tikal Inn. It has air conditioning and a swimming pool , we were very pleased and staff is great.

Best hostel in Flores and one of the best I’ve ever stayed at! Dorms and bathrooms were sparkling clean and spacious, nice sheets, TWO pillows, towel, soap and shampoo provided. Excellent kitchen and gorgeous common areas, with the bonus of a beautiful terrace overlooking the lake (you can literally cross the street and go for a swim). But the best of all were the staff, they all became my friends immediately. I forgot my passport at the hostel and the owner himself came to the airport to bring it to me. Do I need to say anything else?

We were afraid we couldn't reach the hotel. The roads in San Miguel are pretty crummy. But Erik guided us to safety! Brenda, who is the chef, made some of the best meals we had in Guatemala - if you stay there definitely try her tamales they're exceptional. Peter, the owner, was a great presence and offered interesting information about the history of the area and what we could explore. This is a place where all concerned genuinely want you to have a good time.

The hotel and its location are unique for those seeking tranquility in a beautiful and secluded place that is not captured by the great hustle and bustle of Flores or Tikal. The entire complex with its bungalows and houses is excellently maintained and tastefully decorated. From the balconies one has a view of the lakes. Due to the seclusion, it is not only very quiet at night, but also so dark that the place is ideal for observing the night sky.

This was the second time staying here. It is the most affordable place on the island. All the other hotels are much more expensive. The rooms aren't the best but it does have a good view and a nice little pool. You can get from one side of the island to the other in a 15 minute walk. If you want to cross over to the main city it is very easy to grab a tuk tuk from anywhere and they will take you over the bridge.

This is an attractive and well-managed hotel. We liked that it had sitting areas, from which you could look across the lake toward the town of Flores. Everything is very well-maintained and functioned correctly. We enjoy being able to order off a menu for breakfast, rather than just have a buffet. The staff were extremely friendly. All-in-all, this was a really nice place, and one to which we would return.

Great location, hidden away in the forest. Big room with great views from the large balcony. Very efficient ferry service from hotel to Flores Island. The staff were all friendly. The airport transfers went very smoothly. The two staff members on reception (Brayam? and Danila?) were both very helpful when we had a problem with a cancelled flight and a lost phone. They also helped us book a good trip to Tikal.

This was one of the best hotels we had in Guatemala!! The location, atmosphere, room, shower, everything was marvelous. The bar on top of the hotel had the most beautiful view and atmosphere. We were in a rush but had to sit down for a drink because it was that pretty. The staff were amazing and welcomed us with cold towels and refreshing drinks. The staff was very accommodating The hotel was clean and close to the bridge to walk across to Flores Isle. The pool is lovely as well as the common area on the second floor. The fast food chicken restaurant at the bridge is great. I think staying at this hotel is better than staying on the island.

Super nice, more of a hotel than hostel vibe-wise (we stayed in a dorm). Our dorm was nice and fairly spacious, though heard from people in other dorms that space was a bit tight. Great breakfast included, happy! (perhaps not the best for solo travellers though who are looking to socialise?).
