Dullstroom is really lovely for a weekend away or a stopover from the Kruger area.
There are lovely shops and fantastic restaurants. The people are super friendly and its easy to walk around and discovery little things.
Mrs Simpsons restaurants is fantastic and the hosts are amazing. We also had wonderful meals at the MayFly, Baker Brothers, The Waffle Shop and, of course, Harries Pancakes.
It can get cold there but in general, all the places are kitted out for this and are warm and cosy.
In all honestly, the meals and curios are not cheap and some stores feel a bit like tourist traps but then again, no one is forcing you to purchase anything so it's up to your budget how much you spend. But don't expect a cheap little town.
The drive from Johannesburg is quite pleasant as most of the roads are actually in fantastic condition ... BAR the small drive through Belfast. So sorry for that little town ... the roads are terrible.
Oh ... be careful of cows and goats on the road. A cute sight but can be dangerous, especially on a misty morning.
Always happy for a little trip to Dullstroom!

Quaint and quiet village once you leave the main road with its cheek-by jowl shops, restaurants and bric-a-brac outlets. Beautiful countryside to explore once you leave the town. A few very expensive shops some of which sell quite a lot of imported products ...why? A few more affordable options for fly-fishing in terms of catch-and-keep options would be appreciated. More locally manufactured and produced products would have been appreciated e.g. why do all fruit sellers, sell exactly the same fruit coming from Limpopo Province!

The town closes on a Tuesday and some shops stay also close until their is more people in the town... Weird. Whiskey tasting can only happen when there is a big group of people, I completely missed out on that one, even at The Highlander Hotel I was staying, I was really looking forward to do the Whiskey tasting. Sorry 😞 , make sure you are a big group for that one!!

Fantastic location.
Fantastic location. Make sure you bring Doom spray as flies are continuous. Fellow guests that did not stay in the superior villas were complaining of sloppy housekeeping and really poor building maintenance. The restaurant next to reception has really poor attention to service and many guests complain of inattentive staff and poor quality food.
Matty and her son Julian were such lovely hosts who kept up such good communication.I stayed in the Sage cabin , and the pictures did not do it any justice. It's an absolute gem of a place. I really liked the decor and finishing touches, i.e. the electric blankets as Dullstroom can get very cold. I also liked its location and how close yet far away it is from the town. They also have menu's of the towns restaurants, which I truly appreciate.
Terry Stone is a beautiful property within walking distance to Dullstroom central. We love the beautiful, comfortable couch, stunning bathtub, the two fireplaces, and pleasantly surprised by the outdoor shower! They use good quality furniture, Africology products and created a perfect ambient with soothing scents. It's a perfect place for couple getaways to wind down and enjoy each other's company.
We enjoyed to stay at the tiny house. We had a pretty good time in dullstroom which is also a very nice city
The rooms are equipped with a lot of things that I haven't expected (e.g. a small liqueur shot, coffee, tea, etc.)
Thanks so much for the lovely stay.
Beautiful location. Excellent host. Lovely walks and good fishing dams. Close to town but remote enough to be peaceful.
Lovely fires in the evening and co.st atmosphere for a large group. Spacious rooms. Lots of space for little kids to run arounnd.
Great Location in the centre of town. unit was clean and modern. our only complaint was that it was not really a self catering unit as it only had a microwave and fridge. it was not well appointed with dishes. However there are many restaurants nearby
The initial reception was average, however the accomodation and service from the owner was first class - shared information about Dullstroom and a packed breakfast for my trip the next day!!! FANTASTIC THANK YOU.
The property was situated toward the back of Dullstroom within easy walking distance of the dam. The walk to and from town was a nice way to start and end the day. Mattey and Julian were great hosts.
Lovely accomodation, comfortable et very clean.
We appreciated everything.
Thank you again Antoinette & Munro for your kindness and all the good recommendations about Dullstroom and South Africa.

The Dullstroom Inn is a little gem and a wonderful Hotel to relax and to unwind. We met the new owners and they a lovely couple that really makes your stay enjoyable.
The place was so cosy! Electric blanket, fireplace, marshmallows and sherry were really good touches! You can see a lot of love goes into these quaint cottages.
