Hotel Bougainville, hotel in Positano

From its elevated position in Positano, Hotel Bougainville provides excellent views, while being just a 5-minute walk from the beach. All rooms offer a flat-screen satellite TV.

The hotel was very close to everywhere we wanted to go. Situated right in the centre, we were able to walk only a few minutes to all the nice restaurants and the beach. Most importantly, I cannot say enough about the incredible staff and exceptional service that made our experience unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality that set the tone for the rest of our stay. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, with the front desk staff offering helpful information about the hotel's amenities and local attractions. One of the standout moments was when we returned to our room on my mum’s birthday to find a bottle of very nice prosecco and a handwritten note from the hotel team. It was a thoughtful gesture that truly made mine and my mum's day. The hotel concierge was incredibly knowledgeable and provided excellent recommendations for local restaurants and attractions. They even called ahead to make bookings for restaurants with the best table! Overall, the exceptional staff at Hotel Bougainville made our stay truly memorable. Their genuine friendliness, attention to detail, and dedication to customer satisfaction set this hotel apart. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a top-notch hotel experience with a personal touch. I can't wait to return and experience their outstanding hospitality again. Salvatore, Imma, and Rosa; I would just like to personally thank you all for how amazing you made this trip for us!

The Jewel of the Amalfi Coast

Positano is a colourful Italian town in the Campania region, near Naples. Overlooking the turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, this seaside paradise is home to traditional terracotta houses on a steep hill and a small marina with fishing boats.

Set on the Amalfi Coast, between the Lattari Mountains and the Tyrrhenian Sea, the holiday resort of Positano is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with ancient Roman architecture. Featuring white, pink and yellow houses, this place will amaze you with its pebble beaches and narrow streets with little steps.

Built in 1920, the old church of Santa Maria Assunta with the imposing dome is one of the main landmarks of the city. According to the legend, sailors brought the Byzantine icon of the Madonna after their ship got stopped in Positano and heard a voice saying ‘stop, stop, stop’.

The village of Montepertuso is a place 1000 metres above the sea level, with a stunning rock.Travellers can also take the ferry to Capri and Ischia.

One of the most stunning places I've ever visited.

One of the most stunning places I've ever visited. Relatively unspoilt as it's difficult to reach and very expensive. Felt like an exclusive holiday location. Colourful buildings springing out of the hills, beautiful climate and STUNNING flora and fauna. All in all, one feels like one has been dropped into paradise on earth. Visiting in April is to be recommended as it feels neither too hot nor too crowded. I can't sing its praises enough. Travelling can be tricky if you have older people in your party - almost every route around the town involves steep steps. Spoilt for choice in terms of eating - we didn't have a bad meal. Shout out to Il Capitano (higher end) and Il Fornillo (slightly more reasonably priced). Recommend day trips to Pompeii and Vesuvius, the Amalfi coast (from Positano to Maiori), boat trip to Capri and Anacapri, and Sorrento.

Positano is absolutely amazing, but be ready to walk a lot...

Positano is absolutely amazing, but be ready to walk a lot of stairs, on very very steep trails. Respectfully, this place is not ideal for unfit people. Depending if you’re staying close the beach or on the upper side of the city, you will either have to take the stairs with your luggage or get a taxi, which is not cheap there. There are a lot of good restaurants to choose from, and also very affordable, even though the city is rated to be quite expensive. The beach is relatively small, so don’t expect to find a spot to lay down on the sand if you’re travelling during the summer season. As we visited in march, the weather was 10-18 degrees Celsius, which was prefect, also we avoided the crowds and the Mediterranean summer heat of June-August.

Is picturesque. Very hilly so if you have mobility problems would be best avoided. It is expensive even for little things like snacks I found it financially beneficial to have a proper meal. Other than that an enjoyable place to visit.

The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful destination to visit in...

The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful destination to visit in Italy. Originally, when booking this location, I thought the area was sold out-it was hard to find accommodations. But once we arrived we learned that the entire Amalfi Coast pretty much goes silent from November to late March. The area has limited restaurants open as well as hotels. So we were lucky we found a home in which to stay. Use the bus SITA to buy a trip to Amalfi to spend 4-5 hours. Well worth the 3euro cost. Other locations available too on this bus line. Sorrento can be visited as well using the public transportation. The winding roads leading from Sorrento to Positano and then to Amalfi will leave you spell bound. Sharp drops, scenic ocean views and the lovely speckle of homes up and down these cliffs is just breath taking. Highly recommend a visit to the area.

Everything was closed during Dec, no where to eat and only few shops were open, spent 3 nights and it was too long with no where to eat and not much to do, walked daily for spectacular views! Lots of stairs to climb and I would definitely avoid coming December-March.

Positano is beautiful, but I would go back in the summer...

Positano is beautiful, but I would go back in the summer when we could use the beach. Stairs ! Stairs! Stairs! I didn't believe it until I seen it with my own eyes how much stairs there are. If you have trouble with stairs or walking Positano could be a difficult area. Luggage is also difficult to carry around here, and there is only 1 major road and if your not staying at a hotel on that road, there are alot of steps to get there.

This is an amazing stay, Alfonso’s assistance, accommodations / amenities, local knowledge, and friendliness make it feel much more like a hotel than a rental property. Like anywhere in Positano there are a lot of climbing and stairs to reach the property, but it is so worth it to be slightly off the most touristy path and in a quiet area with amazing private views. Walk down to the beach is fast (10-15 min), and coming back home is doable on foot but the bus helps in the summer heat! 10/5 stars.

I loved everything about the property. From the aperitivo terrace, the restaurant, the coffee, the room and it’s balcony, the overall service of the staff including Rosita who brings so much happiness to the hotel with her disposition and helpfulness, to the pool, and overall grounds. The location is stellar! Also, they are pretty much able to organize anything you need. I don’t understand how the hotel isn’t 5 stars. It’s better than some 5 stars hotels I’ve stayed in :)

Best value of all hotels we stayed in Positano and Amalfi (compared to other 4 and 5 star hotels). The access to private beach is a big big PLUS! The jacuzzi on terrace was amazing (we filled cold water in July and it’s basically a pool). In-room breakfast is the best idea as we could enjoy our breakfast while dipping into jacuzzi. I would definitely recommend this for value!
