The hotel was very close to everywhere we wanted to go. Situated right in the centre, we were able to walk only a few minutes to all the nice restaurants and the beach.
Most importantly, I cannot say enough about the incredible staff and exceptional service that made our experience unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality that set the tone for the rest of our stay.
The check-in process was smooth and efficient, with the front desk staff offering helpful information about the hotel's amenities and local attractions.
One of the standout moments was when we returned to our room on my mum’s birthday to find a bottle of very nice prosecco and a handwritten note from the hotel team. It was a thoughtful gesture that truly made mine and my mum's day.
The hotel concierge was incredibly knowledgeable and provided excellent recommendations for local restaurants and attractions. They even called ahead to make bookings for restaurants with the best table!
Overall, the exceptional staff at Hotel Bougainville made our stay truly memorable. Their genuine friendliness, attention to detail, and dedication to customer satisfaction set this hotel apart. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a top-notch hotel experience with a personal touch. I can't wait to return and experience their outstanding hospitality again.

One of the most stunning places I've ever visited.
One of the most stunning places I've ever visited. Relatively unspoilt as it's difficult to reach and very expensive. Felt like an exclusive holiday location. Colourful buildings springing out of the hills, beautiful climate and STUNNING flora and fauna. All in all, one feels like one has been dropped into paradise on earth. Visiting in April is to be recommended as it feels neither too hot nor too crowded. I can't sing its praises enough. Travelling can be tricky if you have older people in your party - almost every route around the town involves steep steps. Spoilt for choice in terms of eating - we didn't have a bad meal. Shout out to Il Capitano (higher end) and Il Fornillo (slightly more reasonably priced). Recommend day trips to Pompeii and Vesuvius, the Amalfi coast (from Positano to Maiori), boat trip to Capri and Anacapri, and Sorrento.

Positano is absolutely amazing, but be ready to walk a lot...
Positano is absolutely amazing, but be ready to walk a lot of stairs, on very very steep trails. Respectfully, this place is not ideal for unfit people. Depending if you’re staying close the beach or on the upper side of the city, you will either have to take the stairs with your luggage or get a taxi, which is not cheap there.
There are a lot of good restaurants to choose from, and also very affordable, even though the city is rated to be quite expensive.
The beach is relatively small, so don’t expect to find a spot to lay down on the sand if you’re travelling during the summer season. As we visited in march, the weather was 10-18 degrees Celsius, which was prefect, also we avoided the crowds and the Mediterranean summer heat of June-August.

Is picturesque.
Is picturesque. Very hilly so if you have mobility problems would be best avoided. It is expensive even for little things like snacks I found it financially beneficial to have a proper meal. Other than that an enjoyable place to visit.

The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful destination to visit in...
The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful destination to visit in Italy. Originally, when booking this location, I thought the area was sold out-it was hard to find accommodations. But once we arrived we learned that the entire Amalfi Coast pretty much goes silent from November to late March. The area has limited restaurants open as well as hotels. So we were lucky we found a home in which to stay. Use the bus SITA to buy a trip to Amalfi to spend 4-5 hours. Well worth the 3euro cost. Other locations available too on this bus line. Sorrento can be visited as well using the public transportation. The winding roads leading from Sorrento to Positano and then to Amalfi will leave you spell bound. Sharp drops, scenic ocean views and the lovely speckle of homes up and down these cliffs is just breath taking. Highly recommend a visit to the area.

Everything was closed during Dec, no where to eat and only few shops were open, spent 3 nights and it was too long with no where to eat and not much to do, walked daily for spectacular views!
Lots of stairs to climb and I would definitely avoid coming December-March.

Positano is beautiful, but I would go back in the summer...
Positano is beautiful, but I would go back in the summer when we could use the beach. Stairs ! Stairs! Stairs! I didn't believe it until I seen it with my own eyes how much stairs there are. If you have trouble with stairs or walking Positano could be a difficult area. Luggage is also difficult to carry around here, and there is only 1 major road and if your not staying at a hotel on that road, there are alot of steps to get there.
This is an amazing stay, Alfonso’s assistance, accommodations / amenities, local knowledge, and friendliness make it feel much more like a hotel than a rental property. Like anywhere in Positano there are a lot of climbing and stairs to reach the property, but it is so worth it to be slightly off the most touristy path and in a quiet area with amazing private views. Walk down to the beach is fast (10-15 min), and coming back home is doable on foot but the bus helps in the summer heat! 10/5 stars.
I loved everything about the property. From the aperitivo terrace, the restaurant, the coffee, the room and it’s balcony, the overall service of the staff including Rosita who brings so much happiness to the hotel with her disposition and helpfulness, to the pool, and overall grounds. The location is stellar! Also, they are pretty much able to organize anything you need. I don’t understand how the hotel isn’t 5 stars. It’s better than some 5 stars hotels I’ve stayed in :)
Best view of the famous rock of positano. The reception was perfect and really ready to inform you and to help you for everything.they bring our car and they take it to the parking. Very important for the tourist because we didn't know the place and we didn't speak italian , so this was very helpful! The breakfast was perfect in the balcony of the hotel the view was amazing but they can put something more in the breakfast menu !
Jacky is the best host in Positano for sure! With a welcome lemonade he makes you feel like home immediately. The location is perfect and the breakfast is better than many other hotels, highly recommended!
You have to pass through a carpark to get to the apartment but don't worry the place is surveilled 24/7. We would come back at night with no problem.
We had a really good time and will definitely come back!
Great location, just up the stairs from the beach and a 10 minute walk along the coast to Positano. It felt like you were in nature and the views from the room balcony were amazing. The room and bathroom were very big and with high ceilings. Breakfast was the best we've had in Italy and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. The stay in Vittoria was the highlight of our trip in Italy. Lovely hotel!
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The hotel is in an amazing location with breathtaking views. Breakfast is served right to your door and the staff could not have been more helpful. The hotel also had great recommendations for restaurants in the nearby area.
I could not recommend this hotel enough to anyone who would like to visit Positano. Again- AMAZING staff!!
Best value of all hotels we stayed in Positano and Amalfi (compared to other 4 and 5 star hotels). The access to private beach is a big big PLUS! The jacuzzi on terrace was amazing (we filled cold water in July and it’s basically a pool). In-room breakfast is the best idea as we could enjoy our breakfast while dipping into jacuzzi. I would definitely recommend this for value!
our room was heaven! beautiful large balcony overlooking the sea & village. Delicious breakfast served in the room. Luigi, the concierge, was so helpful, arranging drivers, dinner reservations, walking directions. Really better than the 5 Star hotels we’ve stayed in. This is a little gem. We spent a day just hanging out in our room and balcony. Love this place!
This hotel is perfect! Location can't be better, you are right in the beach so you don't need to climb stairs every time to get somewhere, only the car but that is something you will only need to get out of Positano (and there are boats too). The breakfast was amazing, great service, clean rooms, had all the 5 star perks
The hotel was so beautiful, the staff was so sweet and helpful. Also, the breakfast was our favourite in the entire 2 weeks in Italy. The hotel is located a 5min drive or 20min walk to center of Positano but they have free shuttle service so it was super convenient!
Highly recommend this beautiful spot :)
The view was breath taking! The breakfast area overlooks all of Positano- great for photos! There are also two other rooftop decks for beautiful sunset photos. The brunch was exceptional and the service was 5 star! We were very happy with our choice of hotel and it was our favorite of our whole trip.
We loved our experience from the moment we arrived. Had just had a terrible experience in Capri and this was the complete opposite. We normally stay at 5 star hotels so we weren’t sure what to expect. This place exceeded expectations. Would recommend to anyone, everyone.
The location was superb a few yards up the road was a 5 star hotel and we had the same view but the best thing were the staff , the hotel is family run and the owners and their daughters are the nicest, friendliest people you will ever meet fantastic service
Host gave amazing instructions and directions to everything. She was responsive for all needs, the property had everything you would possibly need. Extremely clean and the best stay we had in Italy. This was better then every hotel stay that we had!
Very polite and helpful staff. The rooms are simple in typical old Italian style but very clean and comfortable. This hotel has one of the best views of Positano. Location is just great- close to the beach, shops and restaurants.
In the centre, great location. Big balcony is amazing and the view is just perfect. Everything was great. The hotel is next to best reastoraunts in Positano.
