Breakfast was fantastic. So much care went into the preparation thereof, truly a home cooked feast. Fresh fruit and yogurt for a start, which were followed by a wholesome hot breakfast. The property felt very homely with a high standard of attention to detail. The surrounding vineyard and neatness of the property made the experience so much better. We will definitely go back.

Yes we enjoyed the breakfast. The selection was wide and the food was fresh and well prepared.
The hotel and gardens are well kept and quiet for the location right in the middle of town.
The staff were very friendly and always willing to help.

A lovely clean little town located about a 2hr drive from Cape Town. Blown away with how well maintained the town is, with lots of little browsy type shops, coffee shops and restaurants. We didn't have time to hike but the trails looked great. Friendly locals. Located near to some wine farms as well.

Everything was lovely.
Everything was lovely. Excellent service, good facilities for kids. Children enjoyed the pools and play park. The astro turf for mini soccer and tennis courts are well maintained. The games room was not available for use due to a function, this was not ideal as it is part of the Montagu resort experience.and should always be open to its residents. The accommodation was reasonably comfortable and clean. The villa we stayed in is a bit dated. Generators should be used during loadshedding. All in all, a wonderful experience. I will definitely keep going back.

One of the most beautiful towns in South Africa, with mountains all round the views are beautiful throughout the year. The town has enough shops and restaurants for locals and tourists, but not so much that it becomes crowded (although I haven't been there during peak season). A good fusion between winelands and Karoo.

Montagu is a beautiful, clean and safe town.
Montagu is a beautiful, clean and safe town. We went for school rugby so did not get much time to spend sight seeing, but really enjoyed the natural beauty and friendliness of the towns' people. We had dinner at Mitchell's Pub and Grill....truly some of the most value for money and tasty rump steak I have had a very long time.

Beautiful old Cape town with many original buildings and points of interest. A walking tour around the town is pleasant as long as you steer clear of the main street and its surrounds, which are very shabby.
There are many choices of venue to have a meal if you are not fussy about food, but for fine dining you should try the Montagu Country Hotel's Charleston Restaurant.
We stayed in the JAMES' HONEYMOON COTTAGE in which a boutique farm lifestyle aesthetic was perfectly executed and matched with the practical placement of items all around. The views from every room are breathtaking and waking up in a warm bed, thanks to heated blankets, on a winter's morning with your coffee and complementary homemade biscuits overlooking a large extent of the farm was a daily highlight. Being just outside of Montagu there are plenty of activities and wine farms 5 to 20 minutes away. We loved it!
Quiet and peaceful little spot on a farm like setting with beautiful gardens. It really is the perfect spot to get away from everything. Amazing hiking trails close by and a swimming pool to cool off afterwards.
The facilities are spotless and include everything you need for a weekend away.
The staff are friendly and very helpful.
Would definitely highly recommend to anyone looking to recharge their batteries.
I have stayed in many guesthouses around the world and J's Audacious Living in Montagu is right up there with the best of them. For self catering accommodation it doesn't get any better - the kitchen was immaculate and equipped better than almost anywhere else I have stayed. The bedrooms were pristine and the living area open and spacious with even an indoor braai to shelter from the chilly autumn weather.
This is a stunning weekend getaway spot for those looking for a break from connectivity and a serene environment.
The units seem newly built or refurbished and the facilities are all you can expect for a self catering place and top class. Pieter the owner is very friendly and accommodating.
A 10 minute drive to Montagu means you are not too far from civilisation should you miss it.
The hotel is just as quaint as the town of Montagu. The breakfast was good but with a limited selection. a bonus was that they were able to operate during loadshedding. The check-in and my arrival arrangements were managed by a wonderful lady, Adri. She was extremely helpful and friendly, definitely one of the reasons I would be back for another stay at this hotel.
The staff were excellent and the breakfasts wonderful.!!We found Mirihif Retreat & historic Montagu special places and an excellent location to stayt o tour the fabulous Robertson Wineries.( Only 20 minutes by car)
Note to travellers you need to book for dinner at the house best restaurants in Montagu to assure a seat!
the property is incredibly beautiful - the early XX century house and the well maintained garden make a peaceful atmosphere to rest and relax. the owners of this place are very friendly and helpful with their tips. the breakfast is amazing.
the location is perfect for discovering the Montagu town.
a true gem.
The venue is beautiful. Tastefully done. Set in an olive farm and close to restaurants.
The hosts were great and very informative. Lots of hikes and bike routes around the beautiful town of Montagu.
Drive down the Koo Valley pass into Montagu if you can as it gives you an idea of the exquisite surroundings
Wonderful comfortable farm house with enough space for my family to enjoy. Lovely views, peace and quiet, surrounded by lots of nature.
Hosts were fantastic and made us feel very welcome with added little personal touches Close to hot mineral springs, walks, and lots of wine farms for a day trip.
We really enjoyed this accommodation - on a smallholding on the edge of Montagu and so the feel of a farm but not even 5 minutes to the centre of town. Very comfortable, good views, very caring and helpful host and fantastic breakfast.
Superb location. Great room spacious and comfortable with everything needed. Great value. Loved the wine bar attached to the hotel. Easy access good communication and big secure gated parking area.
A small farm feeling in the heart of Montagu
Beautiful and safe setting.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
Excellent breakfast.
Owners were extremely helpful and friendly.
The peacefulness. The cottage was clean and had everything and more for a self catering stay. The staff of both Montagu and Avalon Springs was tops, they were so helpful and kind.
We loved everything about our stay. Wonderful, quaint cottage situated on a wine and olive farm in the heart of Montagu. Such friendly staff who made our stay so welcoming.
Montagu is a beautiful location and Mimosa is well positioned in the centre of town with great facilities, friendly staff and overall a great experience.
