At the junction of three provinces, this KwaZulu-Natal town is a natural destination and departure point for travelers on the busy route between Durban and Johannesburg although the major road now the N3 highway, no longer passes through here, the settlement was originally established at a fork in the road, one route going to what is now the Free State and the other to what is now Gauteng.
Newcastle is a sunny and warm place and is significant as an excellent stopover on the Battlefield Route which works its way around the midlands in KwaZulu-Natal. The route is a comprehensive guide to battles and events that have characterised this part of the country. Deeply involved in the Anglo-Boer War, Newcaslte has a number of battlefield sites including Laings Nek, Majuba and Schuinshoogte.

The hostess is a nightmare.
The hostess is a nightmare. She first accuse me of tearing her curtain ofwhich she had not put a stopper. Then she said I had to many people. I booke for 4 the 4 th person was a baby. She said I should have said so. Child under 2. She said I burned a paper on a cupboard with an iron. We never used an iron after finding out there’s no ironing board. Then we stole her body lotion. She only stopped insulting me when I told her I’ll make booking.com aware

The city is clean and the people friendly. The roads are well kept without a lot of potholes. Someone recommended fish and chips from Porto and we were not disappointed. Although we didn't visit any places of interest there was visible signage of places to visit. It was my first time visiting Newcastle and I liked it a lot. I will be visiting it soon and would recommend it to friends and family.

It’s a clean town. I saw security present often on the road and that showed that the place is safe. The roads are very easy to get anywhere. There are beautiful complex and Malls to do shopping and get something to eat.

We went to Amajuba Mall and what most was intresting is the mountains and the beautfull big homestead build on top of the mountain just behind Zamambongi lodge,
Pedros and Mcdonalds at Amajuba Mall
Yes it is and beautful nature
l will really avoid to drive in Amajuba road as the road wasn't good with me , rather take a long drive but in a decent road as the Amajuba road was too much zikzak and scary.
We also visited at Esigodi next to Khazins and we really enjoy the meal and it was so fun and nice.
Pretty rooms, lovely on-site restaurant, friendly staff. Loved the picnic that they arranged. Currently, some rooms and other restoration/upgrading work is being done. However, I cannot wait to come back to see when it is completed as I think it will look stunning. This place brings back fond memories of when I used to go visit my grandparents as a child in Newcastle. This is a farmstay, but with a lovely twist, as they also have wildlife (springboks and other buck life and a variety of birdlife including eagels) on the premises.
I loved the employees. In particular Nosipho Ngcobo. The breakfast was good. The location is fine but for people who are not familiar with Newcastle it can be a challenge, they can easily get lost, especially at night and there are no notice boards of the hotel nearby. I think a big board with the hotel's logo and an arrow before Carmelot and just before the entry street of the hotel would do justice as far as directions are concerned.
.Worst place, paid by card and got debited, only to find my calls are are not going through for 2 hrs whilst i waited at the gate then eventually when "Owner" decides to answer his phone amd and opens the gate🤔🤔his drunk and refuses to refund money paid because we refuse to sleep there given for 2 hours we waited at thw gate and had made other arrangements for accommodation...
The food was only catered for the certain people that attended the workshop there. The other guests were not catered for. I strongly feel like everybody should be attended to there should have been 2 buffets ..one for that special group and the other one for other guests or the whole hotel should have been booked out for other individual guests if they won't be caterd for.
I was blown away on every respect by the New Haven Guest House. The staff were great, the room above expectations and the food from the restaurant was just brilliant.
I travel for business extensively, and this venue is in the top 3 of places stayed. It was fantastic.
Well done to Christo and his team for providing such excellence.
Breakfast was not good, food was dry with the same menu everyday even desert I think there should a variety to choose from maybe 2/3. With the breakfast my husband does eat beef so we had an issue cause chicken was not there, Hotel should accommodate everyone when its comes to food
the place matches the name and i was happy with the convinience of how close the place was to the wedding venue . the room was clean , spacious and the bed was comfy. Loved my stay . will mos def visit again when in newcastle 😊😊😊💐
It's my second time spending time in the B&B,I loved everything, the location, peaceful area, close to shops, safe and quiet, I will still book the place should I need 1 in Newcastle
I would recommend it to anyone visiting Newcastle
The owner was friendly and as much as it was a late booking. Very welcoming, a place I would definitely go back to one day when I return to Newcastle. The natural feeling inside the house was just extraordinary..
The location was is very central. It had very close proximity to Malls, Food stores, this made a huge difference and things were easy to reach. You really need all these especially if you are away from home.
Staff very friendly and helpful, actually I liked everything except that I was very disappointed that there was no fridge. I think the hotel need to improve on that. At least... Bar fridge
Outstanding accommodation and hosts.
We were kept updated even before check-in.
We ended up securing another night as it was so perfect we didn't want to leave.
Thank you very much.
The rooms are exceptional beyond my expectation. It was like i am in a 4star hotel. The accommodation is cheap but the service and the comfort of the room are worth fortune.
Absolutely loved my stay here. Super clean, private and so comfortable. My host was excellent at communicating, I’m definitely coming back here whenever I am in Newcastle.
The willingness to help! But also, it was a quiet relaxing place, just out of the center of the crazyness of Newcastle but within reach of a mall in 1 km.
