The property is beautiful, situated on top of a hill. The view from the room is what makes this property worth every penny. The staff is fantastic, and it is the best place for a honeymoon. In Seychelles most of the properties are self-catering, this is one of the properties which serves the customer with the best of everything. I thoroughly recommend this property to anyone planning to go to Seychelles. It's worth staying at least for a day if you need peace from the daily hustle.

Location of this "Hotel" I would call it more of a guest house is very good close to the airport, but it is showing up as 3 star, more like 2, unfortunately the Ridge is showing its age and needs a refresh in my opinion, BUT the staff made our stay very pleasant.

The apartment is very big, with an equipped kitchen, big living room, two rooms and two bathrooms, more than enough for 4 people.
The hosts were friendly and responsive, trying their best to solve issues and help.
Location is good if you are looking for a place close to the Victoria Center and with good bus connections (not great if you want to easily access beaches, none at walking distance)

Very cozy and clean apartment with all necessary things. Alex is super friendly and helpful - he met us with fresh juice and refreshing towels and it was great after long flight and kindly left some goods for the first day in the apartment - fruits, water, eggs, milk, butter. He also gave some advice about exploring Mahe. We did really feel like a home and were enjoying spectacular view from the balcony.
The kitchen has everything you need to prepare your own meals, and there is a fish market nearby where you can buy fresh catch in the morning and evening. Also, there are several small grocery stores and a pharmacy nearby.
This is not disadvantage of housing, but travelers need to know that it is better to get to the apartment by car. At first the road may seem difficult, but after a couple of time, you will get used to it.
As a bonus, the owners have a cute cat, and you can also see giant turtles from the balcony (kept by the owner of the neighboring house) :-)
Many thanks for our pleasant and comfortable stay!

Variety of shops. Safe. Cultural. Food is expensive. Beautiful lush terrain. Humid. Bus is best way to travel. Reasonable. When you change buses you have to pay fare again (12 rupees). Cabs are expensive. Many pharmacies if required. Locals are friendly, helpful. Bus service good M- F and Sunday. Minimal Saturday. Not much open Sunday.

Victoria was easily accessed, there were many markets and most people spoke English. There are frequent rain showers that lasted a few minutes which is a relief as it is hot and humid most of the time. The restaurants were great but for South Africans it worked out expensive to eat and drink. There were far too many cars on the road and simply no parking available in Victoria. lovely sights and scenery . The roads that lead over the mountain give way to absolutely breath taking views. The local busses and their drivers were a menace on the road but they provided value for money public transport.

Not the type of capitol city many of us are used too.
Not the type of capitol city many of us are used too. You'll see it all within 2 hours. The tourist offer is pretty slim at best, while any tourist related item prices are very steep. In Seychelles, it's the beaches you'll enjoy, not the city atmosphere.

Victoria is ok, but we spent most of our time renting an apartment (Villa Bella) on the North East point, which was perfect for us. The North East point is far away from any touristy areas, so you'll need a car, which I'd recommend anyways to go to the different beaches, trails, supermarket etc. So stay elsewhere than Victoria is my advice!

As the capital of Seychelles, Victoria is a must see.
As the capital of Seychelles, Victoria is a must see. It is the cultural centre of the country. But the restaurants are very average to poor.
Be prepared to pay tourist rates for everything and forget about coffee, there is none that is drinkable.
For those in a hurry, two days is enough to see Victoria.
Our two-week stay was outstanding. Although not a 5-star hotel, it's an ideal choice for budget travelers. Very clean with a breathtaking view and close to the most beautiful beache Beau-Vallon. Anne-Marie, our host, went above and beyond, providing valuable local insights, preparing for us a delightful Creole dinner, and even helping arrange a memorable fishing tour for my husband. Despite minor inconveniences like a short steep hill to reach the accommodation, it was an outstanding experience overall.
L'Escale surpassed our expectations from start to finish. Despite being a small hotel, the facilities were superb and the attention to detail in so many parts of our stay were magnificent. The room was perfectly appointed with everything we needed and our view of the Eden Island Marina was great. The pool, gym and lounge were fantastic but it was the staff who really made L'Escale feel special. The food was great, restaurant staff knowledgeable and the setting was just right for us.
Marie-Anne and family are very kind and hospitable.-They gave a very good first impression of Seychellois people.
Papaya Self Catering is situated in a very good location up the mountain. It is very easy to get there by bus and car, nearly impossible to get lost for a first time visitor. Not far from Victoria city centre. Close to shops and a Chinese restaurant. About 20 minutes away from Port Launay beach, which I highly recommend.
We really loved everything about this place. The host is very nice and helpful, she even helped us by printing our Covid tests and arranging a rent a car. The apartments have a stunning view of the sea and are equipped with everything you need. The location is also great for exploring the island and its beaches and there is a very nice beach (Carana beach) nearby which we really liked. We couldn't recommend Maka Bay more!
Beautiful grounds with lovely outside sunloungers & chairs (some under cover for when it rains - which does in Dec & Jan !) and great views of local hills as well as bay - so even if too wet for nearby beach, could enjoy being outside without feeling were missing out on appreciating the whole experience. Staff were v friendly & helpful and choice of close small & medium size supermarkets.
Cool location up in the hills with a spectacular view over Victoria. Great drive up the hillside through the lush forest. The property was filled with plants and flowers and there were plenty of wildlife around.
Breakfast was great and so were the other dishes we tried for dinner and lunch.
We had a nice and relaxing time and it was a great first stay in the Seychelles! :)
The room was a decent size with a private balcony that overlooked a pool below and a nice view of Eden Island off in the distance. The room was very clean, the air conditioning was cold, and the WiFi was fast. The hotel had plenty of parking for those with rental cars. There was an attached restaurant and bar that served good food and drinks.
Our host Ricky was more than kind, helpful and professional. The apartments are new and sparklingly clean. The view from all the balconies was really nice and we enjoyed it for our morning coffee before we head to some of the beaches. We would definitely recommend this host and would be happy to visit again!
The apartments are on the top floor of this building. A quiet oasis in the midst of a busy town. The perfect location to explore victoria, a change from all the beaches! All the staff both in the office and housekeeping are extremely friendly and helpful. We couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else.
Hello! Everything was nice. Villa is very beautiful with a nice view. It has everything for human needs. The owner is very kind and is always ready to help. She organised free fish barbecue. The villa is very close to the beach. Everything to Everything to fall in love in Seychelles.
The views of this hotel are unbelievable. We also loved our morning walks to see the neighborhood which was the best neighborhood that we stayed at in all Mahe. Lots of bats flying around which my kids loved. If I make it to Seychells again for sure I will stay here.
We stayed here for 2 nights and it was the perfect place to explore Mahé and Victoria. The road up to the hotel is rather steep, but when you arrive the view is amazing. Breakfast was great, only had dinner one evening but the food was excellent.
Great spot in Victoria, amazing views from the accommodation and next door to one of the best restaurants we visited in Mahe, Marie Antoinette. Room was very comfortable and breakfast provided was really good with a great selection of food.
Room was large and spacious, there is a relaxing sound of a water stream from behind the hotel.
Staff was very helpful and went out of their way to assist us.
location is convenient to come from airport or to walk to Eden island.
Just perfect, everything is brand new in the room and the hotel, Niko and his wife are very friendly, perfectly located 50 meters from the beach of Beau Valon, restaurants and shops around, car parking, just perfect
