Beauvais is a small town located 80 km north of Paris, in the French region of Picardy. Though its ancient origins and quaint atmosphere, the city has only recently become popular due to its airport. The Paris Beauvais-Tillé Airport is the gateway to Paris for most low-cost carriers, which makes the hotels in town a popular choice for travellers.
The city was inhabited by Gallic tribes, and it was known as Caesaromagus by the Romans. After being destroyed by barbarian attacks, it became the capital of the Belgic tribe of the Bellovaci, and started to being known as Bellovacus. During the next centuries a powerful Catholic clergy emerged, and a fine textile industry was developed.
St Peter’s Cathedral and the National Tapestry Gallery are a must. The 16th-century Episcopal Palace was partly built using ancient Gallic-Roman fortifications. Canada Lake is outside the centre, and offers natural surroundings and water sports facilities.

Beauvais is a lovely place the cathedral is stunning . It was very quiet but I don't know if that was because of the time we were there. I found some of the people very arrogant when visiting cafés was ignored a few times or just dismissed as we couldn't speak French. Although some were very nice it only takes a few to give a bad example. We had a lovely meal at le Touco restaurant and the staff were really helpful. I stayed overnight in beauvais en route to the airport so had a morning to spend there. It's a lovely little town with some medieval streets, but the main attraction was the cathedral which despite being unfinished for me was spectacular.

We stayed one night in Beauvais and could have stayed longer. In the 1500’s the cathedral was the tallest structure in the world and is still impressive. Next door, the Museum Oise in the old Bishop’s Palace is free and worth a visit.MalcolmAustralia - 2.0Scored 2.0

Great place with lots of lovely restaurants around the square. We were lucky enough to be there for the firework display the night before Bastille Day. Airport is to avoid at all costs.
Airport is to avoid at all costs. It's a trap if going somewhere else without having to go to Paris to change bus/train. If decided to stay in Beauvais, last bus to Beauvais from airport is 20.20. The town is nice, great cathedral, nice bistros.sylviaBulgaria

Arrived at the hotel late but the very friendly guy at the reception gave us the opportunity to stay longer as our flight was only the next evening. The bus stop is close to the hotel, the airport reachable in 15-20 minutes. Beauvais is a beautiful and cozy town for a walk, the center can be reached on foot, many cozy cafes, a beautiful cathedral. The hotel is cozy, highly recommended for short or even longer stays.

Hotel is a great location for the airport, there was parking around the back of the hotel for €8 per stay. Room was lovely, very spacious and fitted our family of 5 in comfortably
