Raise your wine glass and toast to the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town centre, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.
Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge.
On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the pubs and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.
A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.
Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, Booking.com allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.
A fascinating city packed with interesting places to see.
A fascinating city packed with interesting places to see. A wonderful place for immersing in rich cultural and architectural history as well as for experiencing vibrant shopping areas, and many enticing restaurants and bars that burst out into a colourful and dynamic city street life. Wine of course is a key ingredient and the local beers too deserve an honourable mention. The tram service is a fantastic asset for the city - it is convenient, efficient and so simple to use

Beautiful city, steeped in culture, art, and great architecture. Felt very welcome there in all places. Magnificent public transport options, especially the tram which can bring you all around the city and provides an excellent link between City and Airport. Apart from its rich wine history and culture, there are so many other great reasons to visit Bordeaux and I highly recommend a visit to this must-see European city!

Beautiful city, really easy to get around.
Beautiful city, really easy to get around. Walking is easy plus trams for longer distances. The residents are very helpful, no high rise buildings so the sky line is stunning. Lots of museums to visit, if you like steaks then head to Entrecote outside the Opera House, you can't book and queues are legendary but so are the steaks. Also pop in to the roof top bar on top of the Inter Continental opposite the Opera House, for drinks and snacks, it is great. Opens at 12 noon. And defo take the train, bus or a wine tour to St Emillion, it is half an hour away by train and it is so beautiful

Public transport is very easy and cost effective if you use the TBM (Transports Bordeaux Metropole). They have an app...
However, the city is VERY walkable.
Being a big city you can expect to pay more if you focus only on the tourist areas. Walk down the back streets and you will find other options!
Definitely go to the Bassins des Lumieres in Bacalan. This was hands down the highlight of the trip. Art installation in the former WWII submarine base. The building itself is jaw dropping and the show was amazing.
The Botanical gardens on the Bastide side are disappointing. Rather focus on the Public gardens (Jardin Public) near downtown.
The Sunday market at Quai de Chartons is well worth the visit. Do try the Oyster cafes and enjoy the wine, fresh seafood and bustle.
Cite du Vin is very touristy but the price includes a glass of wine on the top floor with spectacular view across Bordeaux.
Les Halles de Bacalan Food Market is pricey (for what you get). It is very lively and has lots of choice of foods though. Great for people watching. Closed on Monday.
Go to 7 Rue de la Vielle Tour and try Les Dunes Blanches - you won't be disappointed. Mini choux filled delights.
The Red Hop-On / Hop-Off bus is actually not as advertised - you stay seated on the bus - so we didn't bother. Unless you want to just drive around the city...

Easy train ride from Paris.
Easy train ride from Paris. Bordeaux town itself you can see in 1.5 day & its fine. Other must visits are: St Emilion or other wine region day trips, Cap ferret oyster villages and the Largest sand dune in EU. Bordeaux town itself also has alot of antique shops & flea markets that are nice. Seafood is fresh and delicious everywhere.
The owner Ahmed was absolutely fantastic, he helped with all our trip planning, food and wine tasting, the room we stayed in was exceptional would put some 5 star hotels to shame.
The breakfast was fantastic delivered to the room
On time with the freshly prepared ingredients.
Ahmed went above and beyond to make my partners birthday very special.
Definitely worth a visit when visiting Bordeaux and we will be back soon.
Thank you again for all your hard work and the property is a credit to you and your family.
Nice hotel - perfect for a couple of night's in Bordeaux. Whilst the hotel isn't anything special on the outside, the bar and restaurant area looked more contemporary. The food in the restaurant was good, with options for both kids and vegetarians. Our kids particularly enjoyed the games area, with chess, and Xbox and table football, as well as the pool! Convenient location for travel by tram into the city centre, and very useful to have a hotel with parking.
location was very central to lots of the key activities in Bordeaux and easily accessible via the tram from the train station. Breakfast was lovely, and lobby bar (which had just opened) was a really nice touch. Rooms seemed a bit spartan, although they were very clean and well maintained. Hotel location -- on a side street off of a main pedestrian area -- was quiet which was a pleasant surprise.
Beautiful apartment, very well equipped. Excellent shower, bathroom and new kitchen. Very quiet at night despite being on a busy street with a tram stop. A very nice supermarket and an excellent bakery close by. Very close to Jardins Public. City centre easily walkable or the tram stop is a short walk away. The owners were very nice and provided wine and water on arrival which was a nice touch.
the location of the hotel is good, there is a tram station right out the hotel. very near to city center close to wine museum in Bordeaux. staff are very friendly there, we arrived earlier than check in time but they allowed us to go into our room earlier so we don’t have to carry our luggage around the city. breakfast was beautiful, with lots of options and bio foods.
It's a wonderful little old-school Hotel in the City Center of Bordeaux. It really feels nice to get a real key to open your room! It's located just a few meters away from the shops and restaurants, but the street of the hotel is very quiet. I haven't stayed in a property like this in ages, and at an amazing value. The "petit dejouner" was good enough.
Clean and quiet this hotel is a stones throw from Bordeaux which is in easy walking distance or, if you prefer, the tram runs close by. Facilities are fairly basic, and the property is authentically French. Our room was clean and tidy and the staff very friendly and helpful. Free parking, this close to the city centre was a real bonus.
Beautiful Townhouse that has all the comforts of a 5 star hotel. The hosts are warm and friendly and went out of their way to ensure that we had a fantastic stay. This truly is a gem and i cannot recommended it enough. Delicious breakfast served each morning. I will certainly stay again on future visits to Bordeaux.
The hotel staff were very polite and accommodating - our room was perfect for an overnight stay - very clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location by the lake and next to the tram stop - frequent trams into the city centre for 3 euros.
Would thoroughly recommend it for a short stay in bordeaux.
Beautiful apartment in a great location. One of the nicest places we stayed in France! Walkable into the city centre. Nice and clean with a fully equipped kitchen. Easy check in. Plus streaming services on the TV is a great bonus when you’ve been on your feet all day and need to sit down.
Comfortable bed. Funky basin and shower. Very clean. Great location near train station and tram stop out the front of the hotel in to old centre of Bordeaux . Very friendly staff at your request. Beer. Coffee. Lounge area to relax or work.
Stay City Aparthotel was very clean and comfortable for a short stay in Bordeaux. Staff at reception were friendly helpful and professional. Location was reasonable for city centre. Didn’t have breakfast here so can’t comment on that.
The Breakfast was the best we had in 10 days in France. Lucy, Clothilde & Antoinne all make us feel right at home, made lots of great local recommendations and generally went above and beyond to make our stay great.
The location was excellent with Tram stops to City Centre very close by. We did not use the Restaurant as we wanted to visit City and we found excellent choice of Restaurants available there.
Excellent, modern, bustling hostel in a brilliant location - short walk to station and city centre activities. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and the room was lovely and spacious.
overall the hotel is good. The staff are the absolutely the best asset of the hotel, they are very helpful and friendly other than that I dont know why the hotel is a 5 star
