We absolutely loved the hotel. The architecture was stunning. Our room was superb. We originally booked because it had a garden, a spa and was central. But the hotel turned out to be top notch! The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the breakfast good, we had a delicious bar snack one evening. The bed was really comfortable. Very modern finish. Great coffee in the room. We will definitely come back. What a find!

Lovely old hotel on a quiet street - about a 15min walk from the city centre. Comfy bed and nice amenities in room - tea, coffee, water, snacks etc. Very clean and nightly turndown service. Nice, bright room with a balcony overlooking the street. We were celebrating a birthday there and the staff went all out to decorate the room and add some extras to make it special.

Raise your wine glass and toast to the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town centre, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.
Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge.
On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the pubs and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.
A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.
Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, Booking.com allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.

The appearance of Bordeaux is absolutely exhilarating with its miles of warm glowing limestone 18th century buildings. The number of trees and small gardens gives a great feeling, and the number of modern, quiet trams is truly impressive. Although visiting alone, I always felt safe and found locals helpful.

A week was the right amount of time because Bordeaux is not only beautiful, the locals are soooo much more polite than Parisians. They would literally walk up to. you to ask if you needed help to find your way around, just amazing.
Also, the architecture and history of this city is gorgeous. And don't forget the great food. I lived in Paris for 2 years and heard Bordeaux was Paris without the huge crowds and surely Parisians and that was the case.
The river cruise is nice to get a different view but the tourist bus was more informative and displayed much more obviously. The tram system is amazing. You can take it from the airport into the center but be sure to get the TMB app for your phone to buy and activate tickets. Don't recommend the tram if you have more than 1 suitcase. If you have an early flight, the trams start about 4am.
If you have to see the Louvre and other museums, etc in Paris, they are worth it, just be ready for horrid crowds and nasty shops and impolite servers. Understandably they are really tired of clueless tourists and just trying to make a living.
St Emilion is not worth the trip unless your aim is to buy some Bordeaux wine from the source but it's only wine shops every few meters. Make sure the weather forecast is good for your trip if you go because this is a small town you can walk and enjoy the scenery. There isn't much in the way of museums or tours. The people in the tourist office are multilingual and very helpful. The guides speaking rather poor English. The walk from the train station to the town is about 20-25min and slightly uphill.

There is so much history and so much to see, however the joy of bordeaux is you can do most of it on foot or a bike. You can literally walk everywhere in the old part of town or along the river in both directions.
It has the usual places to visit Museums, Churches, Gardens, Bridges, however i would suggest the following
Cite du Vin - Its epic and tells you everything you'll need to know about wine.
The Museum of Wine & Trade - An insight to early Bordeaux with a free wine tasting ;-)
Walk the River Promenade - Great at any time of day
The River Market on a Sunday - Has everything, Fresh oysters, Artisan foodies
Not much to dislike - except don't go to the Marche du Capucin after 12... we did and its an interesting area after its closed!!
I'd give the Intercontinental Rooftop Bar a miss too, terrible service, terrible staff attitude - not one I'll be racing back to.
So many eateries to try and for those that love shopping you will be in Heaven.

It's a great city with an excellent (and cheap) transport system. The CityPass is extremely good value for money and encourages maximum enjoyment of the many attractions. Must-see attractions include La Cite du Vin, the Base Sous-Marine (fabulous son et lumiere), boat trip and Pey-Berland tower. There are many good eating places - local brasseries/cafes with a good choice of menus. A lot of the food is meat/shellfish based but vegetarian alternatives can be found!

City was very quiet usually.
City was very quiet usually. The tram system and excellent buses meant very few cars around. I would describe Bordeaux as a very nice, clean, well organized, sustainable well run city with lots of designer shops and all the usual multinational chains. Wine dominates in Bordeaux like Golf does in St Andrews. The wine tour of St Emilion village and local vineyard showed how Bordeaux has become so wealthy over the centuries.
Really enjoyed the trip but probably not one best suited to a younger audience.
Probably won't go back, saw what we wanted to see in 5 days.

Arrived on a Friday - Bordeaux was buzzing.
Arrived on a Friday - Bordeaux was buzzing. Plenty of cafe culture happening all around, the weather was very kind so we were able to stroll down by the river, take in some of the beautiful squares and monuments and enjoy a great steak supper.
This hotel's decor is well-thought-out and adds to the overall charm of the property. The staff members were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. Our room was spotlessly clean, and we appreciated the attention to detail in maintaining the cleanliness of the hotel. Additionally, the hotel is located within reasonable walking distance from the city center, making it a convenient base for exploring Bordeaux. We had an excellent overall experience and would highly recommend this hotel to others.
We were here a year ago and they were modernizing. They have done so sympathetically, great elevator and rooms are excellent. They are old fashioned yes super clean and accessible I do not need modern decor. The staff is efficient and 24/8. The location is superb for tram from airport and to the train station. Easy access to center of the city. Great restaurants nearby and theater and wine center. I would rather be here than fancy new hotel it is why we are in France!!
The hotel offered a well-priced room very close to the Bordeaux train station. For those, like us, with a bit too much luggage, that proximity to the station was priceless. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the hotel harbors features that suggest it was a very elegant palace some years ago. It is now more utilitarian, but it still has all the features one needs when in Bordeaux, with close proximity to the central old town as well.
The hotel seems brand new and it is very clean. There are toiletries at reception and you can help yourself to shampoo, lotion, and soap which is really nice. The hotel is about 40 minutes walk from the city center which is fine for those who don't mind walking and there is also plenty of buses and trams to get you there. The hotel is very close to the main train station in Bordeaux. Staff are very nice.
Loved everything about this hotel/apartments, the location was fabulous and came with parking, the staff were amazing friendly and very helpful. The rooms were comfortable and a good size bathroom with a great shower. Had a laundry on the premises which was so handy. I would highly recommend this place and if I’m ever back in Bordeaux I would definitely stay here again.
The Boutique Hotel offers a great balance of elegant and modern rooms. With only six rooms the boutique hotel offers great privacy! I can recommend this hotel to anyone who’s looking for a fancy and comfortable stay in the middle of Bordeaux. The best part of the hotel is the roof top terrace with a beautiful breakfast when the sun is shining.
You cannot beat the location if you are attending an event at the stadium. It is walking distance. It is also very convenient to get into downtown Bordeaux on the tram. The hotel staff are so incredibly kind and helpful; the rooms are air conditioned which made a HUGE difference, and the rooms came with welcome gifts which was so generous.
it was extremely clean and was within walking distance of the city center. The staff was the best! Edith was especially helpful in every way and we are very grateful to all of her advice during our stay. They offer a wonderful breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again if I was to ever return to Bordeaux.
Superb affordable accommodation conveniently near a tram line but with only 10 minute walk across the river into the city if preferred. Breakfast 6 euros has a good variety in a well-designed setting. Underground car parking. Staff helpful and attentive. The best boulangerie in France, Qu4tre Qu4rts, is just next door.
Good location for people travelling for meetings at Palais des congres (Bordeaux Lac), but also like to visit the city center. The hotel is 10 min by tram from both. Tram stop almost in front of the hotel. Nice spacious bathroom, comfortable bed.
Best hotel experience of our tour around France and Spain.
Super staff, excellent air conditioning (vital in heatwave), lovely rooms, good location. Safe parking, excellent wifi, BBC channels.
Good value.
best place in the Bordeaux i have ever been. next to opera its in the heart of city center. and next to the most famous entrecôte Restaurant. its really great location
Best and the only good Mercure I stayed in France so far. Absolutely lovely staff, kind, friendly, helpful, respectful...Just lovely, thank you so much.
