The hot breakfast was ok. Pastries were very good.
I love visiting this town. Walks around the town centre for markets shops etc. Then a short trip oiyt past the Naval bas to the beach and the long coastal walks. I love the history, the old forts the magnificent Norman ability to build with stone.
A drive to Barfleur for lunch of musseld and chips was another bonus. A lovely fishing port town off the beaten way with a choice of eateries all good.
Exploring the small restaurants in te smaller villages and town is always rewarding . Remember the French rise early and lunch ends at 2 p.m.
Skip breakfast and enjoy a leisurly early lunch instead!

We visited Cherbourg over Easter.
We visited Cherbourg over Easter. The town was buzzing on Easter Saturday with the food market and people out having drinks...very nice. Unfortunately in the evening there seemed to be a lack of restaurants open with the exception of a few high end places. We ate in the casino & also at our hotel, the Mecure. It's a nice place and a good location to see any D Day beaches/museums. You will need a car.

A really interesting town, great art gallery, and lots of places to visit around the town. It would have been good to stay longer but the weather was pretty bad so two nights were enough.
The extensive road works around the harbour totally confused our satnav and the temporary one way systems were pretty difficult to negotiate.
Loads of choice of restaurants all prices.

We have friends in Cherbourg and will continue to visit.
We have friends in Cherbourg and will continue to visit. But for British visitors, the strange pattern of Brittany Ferries' service from Portsmouth or Poole is a great deterrent for a visit to the Cotentin! Extraordinarily, the service from Portsmouth is one day per week - so you either stay for three hours to return on the same ship, or you stay for one week, or you have a long drive to and/or from Ouistreham.
The only advantage of this, from our point of view, is that it tends to keep some visitors away from the calm and peace of the Cotentin peninsular. We enjoy the lack of crowds - Maybe the Cotentin is a secret worth keeping!

Despite Major road works in progress Cherburg, getting around by car is quite easy. Walking around the town is a pleasurable experience and the harbour walks are must at sunset. Nightlife makes the narrow streets very congested at times and the noise level can disturb your sleep if your hotel is in the main socialising street areas.

Unless you have to visit Cherbourg don’t visit and stay at the moment as they are undergoing a massive refurb and building work is EVERYWHERE and nearly all roads are closed. I will visit again though as people are so lovely. But probably not until 2025.

I stayed here with my 4yr old son and we loved it. He was obsessed with the map of the world and picking out countries. Very spacious and comfortable apartment, ideal for us for 2 nights before our ferry back to Portsmouth.
We used the main bedroom and the sofa bed and I was surprised at how comfortable the sofa bed was. Good quality bedding for both beds. Everything is obviously new.
I'd highly recommend this apartment. We drove around due to the weather and little legs but it seemed very walkable into the heart of Cherbourg too.
We have frequently used this excellent hotel while visiting friends in Cherbourg. As always, we were welcomed by cheerful staff (even though a late ferry meant that we arrived after midnight). The prices are v reasonable, so close to the town centre and the sailing harbour but with a wide open space of grass in front of it, and convenient parking in view of the hotel. The facilities are plain but well kept and very comfortable. Though this time we took breakfast with our friends at their home, we know the beakfast is excellent.
Very good location for the beaches in the area, 10 minutes from central Cherbourg and the ferries to the UK. For my group, there was safe parking for 4 motorcycles or a car/van would easily fit in to the courtyard. Nice BBQ and table and chairs for guests use. The property is quiet, clean and well equipped. I highly recommend this property 👍
Very easy access to the coastal paths for excellent walks. Dog friendly. Home cooked food.
Only a few miles from the port terminal.
Very friendly staff who readily understood and responded.. English spoken very well.
Very quiet hotel.
Breakfast was cheese and cooked meats, eggs or pastries and cereals.
It was perfect for the price. Great location, comfortable room, nice breakfast. But the reason we would highly recommend the hotel is because of the truly wonderful staff. They were so welcoming and thoughtful. They also rescued us from an unfortunate transport issue, for which we were truly grateful.
The hotel was very well located from the ferry terminal and only a few minutes walk to the train station. Our room was clean and comfortable and seemed exceptionally good value after our previous night's stay in Portsmouth. We were given an early check-in which was very much appreciated.
An affordable hotel near to Cherbourg train station, with a definite vintage air: it felt like a railway hotel from a mid-century period piece. Rooms clean albeit minimal - bed, small coffee table, chair, TV, no real wardrobe - shower with good water pressure. Windows not overlooked.
Hotel is very conveniently located by the port. We were there for Fastnet race so it could not have been a better location. In addition, the price was very reasonable. The staff was also very helpful in keeping our champagne cool overnight, including preparing ice for our cooler.
Location is excellent. We arrived by train and walked about 5 minutes to the hotel. Getting to the ferry port was also easy. It is also very close to lots of restaurants, shops and places to visit like La Cité de la Mer (which is a great place to visit)
The proximity of the apartment to the shops and restaurants and the Cherbourg marina.
The apartment was very well fitted out and comfortable . Two double bedrooms. Very quiet location. Only 25 minutes walk from Ferry Terminal.
Hotel was close to Cherbourg ferry port, 10 mins drive. Check-in was by key pad and hotel is laid out as apartments. Plenty of space for 4 and close to restaurants. Room was nice and cool.
The breakfast was good. The location was just great within five to ten minutes of the center of Cherbourg and the main shopping area. Eating out was good and the horse meat was tasty.
The number of beds was perfect for our family. This was the only hotel in England and France that we found that could fit all 5 of us (2 adults, 3 kids) which we really appreciated!
Location great for exploring Cherbourg and surrounding areas. Apartment well appointed and very comfortable. Parking outside the apartment wasn’t a problem.
