Commes is a small village, which is a good location for...
Commes is a small village, which is a good location for travelling around this part of Normandy. Our particular interest was the D Day landings and the location was excellent for this. Also we visited Bayeux and the chateau at Balleroy. Commes is a short distance from Port en Bassin which has excellent restaurants and bars, shops and a supermarket.

We never really looked at Commes as we were only there for 1 night but it appeared to be a quiet place on the coast. It is ideal to visit so many places though. We ate in Arromanches which was about a 10 minute drive away. This is where the Gold Beach is (British landing beach for D Day) Very interesting place.DavidUnited Kingdom

I was staying for one night only as a stopover before taking the ferry from Cherbourg the next day. The staff was lovely, very welcoming and helpful, and they gave me great recommendations for a walk to the local cliffs (breathtaking) and how to get to the nearest town/beach. The room was spacious and very clean, the bed was super comfortable. The hotel restaurant served excellent food (3 course menu). Would have loved to stay longer, will definitely stay again in the future!SandraIreland

Incredible staff, terrific food at the restaurant where people come from far and wide (not just hotel guests). Staff were very friendly, very helpful and quite knowledgeable about the locale attractions. Look forward to staying again.
