What has changed over the years is that you can communicate in English almost everywhere. People are friendly and helpful. You can’t order dessert and cafe only at the restaurant, there need to be a food order first. Book the entrance tickets to the most popular places online in advance and be aware of waiting in queues.

The metro is great, quick and easy to get around. Buy a Paris visite pass for 3 or 5 days. Most things are in the first zone.

People and attraction's are great, some of the signage at some of the Metro stations is hard to find but you just have to walk a little further and check all directions. Download City Mapper App, it is much better than Google maps which had me going over my own tracks several times though I did use both ,sometimes at the same time.

Paris is a fantastic city to visit however understand that some sites are very crowded. Many sites require timed tickets which need to be booked in advance. Despite timed tickets, the Louvre and Versailles are completely crowded to the point of being unbearable. Smaller sites are much better to visit -- we visited a number of smaller museums and sites that were much less crowded and enjoyable. We highly recommend getting a Paris Museum Pass or card that prepays admission at sites. You still need to get timed entries were required, but you skip the ticket purchase line entirely. If you are going to the Louvre, Versailles, or the Eiffel Tower, then this is a huge advantage. Paris is getting ready for the Olympics so there is lots of construction. I would say that English is readily spoken by most people we met, so we did not have at speak terrible French. Restaurants have added "English subtitles" to their menus, so ordering is easy. All the food was great, of course. We found people very nice and welcoming. Best of all, Paris is a walkable city and we enjoyed being out an about in the city itself. Definitely go visit Paris!

Paris was welcoming, beautiful, fun, absolutely lovely.
Paris was welcoming, beautiful, fun, absolutely lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed the museums, sights, and incredible food. Do make reservations well in advance to sights and restaurants! Also, we went to Giverny for a day, and it was phenomenal!
We can’t wait to return to France again!

Expensive and crowded!
Expensive and crowded! If you want to go to the Louvre or Versaille Palace book early and get there well ahead of time. Versaille sells way more tickets than they can actually accommodate so dont buy prior, just get there at first opening and be prepared to wait for ages in a long queue. We just walked away from prepaid tickets as we couldnt afford to wait in an impossibly long queue.
Be careful about advice on train directions; Parisians are notorious in France for sending you the wrong way, just for fun. Except it isn't funny.
Next to a métro station (Maraîchers). Very helpful staff: my room was on the fourth floor and I was dreading having to bring up my suitcase once Air France delivered it, but the receptioner was nice enough to bring it up to me. Only drawback is that there is no lift (I'm a bit too old for all the steps -- when I lived in Paris as a boy I had a chambre de bonne on the 8th floor with stairs but that's not so hard when you're 17). Good price, refrigerator, window, modern plumbing.
This hotel was cuter and much nicer than I expected. We had the room with the terrace and really enjoyed the views from the terrace. The staff were very helpful and accommodating as well. We spent the first part of our Paris stay over in the 1st arrondissement, and while it was very convenient to be there, it was also very noisy at night. The 3 Poussins is in a quieter residential neighborhood, and we really enjoyed the peace and quiet on our final night in France.
Very cheap Hotel. You get what you pay for. The staff were nice. The room was alright. The bed was good, the bedding was old but clean. We had a sink and wardrobe in the room. There was a view of Paris. Windows were big enough. Lights were bright enough for the whole room. It wasn't too noisy. We stayed on the fourth floor. Like I said, everything is justifiable. For tourists, this may be too shocking. For people used to living in Paris, it is what it is.
The best hotel we stayed during our trip to North of France which is kids friendly. The room was clean and had a quiet corner for us to put the travel cot (which they provided for free). The shower was a bit small but good enough for a hot shower. The breakfast was very good and the lady at the kitchen very friendly helping with baby chair and toys. Good value for Paris.
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel France Albion. My room was quite comfortable, everyone at the hotel was very helpful. I enjoyed the neighborhood, there was a great variety of food options in the neighborhood. Also, there were a couple convenient Metro stations very close by. Overall, I would not hesitate to stay here again.
We went here for our honeymoon. The staff here was probably the best I have ever experienced at a hotel. So friendly and helpful with everything! The breakfast was also the best I have had in France, and the breakfast room is really cozy and nice. The room was also really nice and the location of course perfect.
.
Very good location, near De Clichy square.
De Clichy and La Fourch metro stations are within walking distance to the hotel, with lots of supermarkets and restaurants.
The staff were specially nice and helpful.
Costing less than 70 per night, it was one of the cheapest in Paris during my visit.
I travel to France once or twice a year. The location was perfect for me as I love the 7th. I booked at the
hotel because the design/decor was beautiful. Kitchen was perfectly equipped...perfect and I am a retired chef.
Beautiful design in the rooms. Our room too small for two people.
Spacious room ,good lights and internet connection.I was particularly impressed by water hose in the bathroom which is unique among hotels in France.Breafast is amazing. The hotel is centrally located and 5 minute walk to the Arc de triumph and the champs. It is also connected to a mall.
Room small but reasonably comfortable. Staff nice and friendly. Lovely little breakfast, although would have liked more healthy options, but I understand that in a small and relatively cheap Paris hotel, it would not be cost effectively possible. Therefore, it was very acceptable.
The location of this hotel is just great, all nice places are reachable by foot, it is a very quiet and “Parisian-like” (if such a thing exist. The staff is amazing and always available to give hand. Very cheap for this area! I definitely recommend this hotel!
Excellent hotel, very nice staff, perfect localization for a sightseeing trip, 24/7 reception so you can walk around the city as much as you want, near hotel located catacombs of Paris, breakfast that is served in hotel is cheaper than food in the streets)
The hotel exudes an authentic style, and the rooms are notably spacious, especially for France. Furthermore, the hotel boasts a convenient location, particularly for those arriving by train or plane, as the RER station is situated nearby.
So, if you’re finding a nice cheap stay in Paris I recommend this hotel. It’s next to Goncourt station and you’ll get anywhere in the metro from there. Room is bright and looks decently clean. You’ll get what you need for your money.
perfect location just off the RER B from paris airport, i needed an overnight stay before continuing to the south of france and appreciated the walking proximity to luxemborg gardens and louvre. breakfast was excellent.
Very convenient location, clean, very courteous and attentive staff. Rooms are small which is a Paris / France thing, but they are AC’ed. Amenities are modern. Street is fairly quiet.
Great location, clean, cheap (for city centre Paris) and nice friendly staff. If you're more interested in the location than the facilities then it's good for the non fussy traveller.
Perfectly situated between Marais and the 11th. Large, clean rooms with balcony and all amenities. One of the best (cheap) hotels I ever stayed in in Paris.
