The property was well maintained and very clean. Great location two minutes drive from the main gates of Chichen Itza. In the centre of a small town, with plenty of places to eat within a two minute walk. The staff were really helpful and the rooms are based around a small pool in a courtyard setting. Parking is very secure behind a large metal gate. Three very cute dogs live on site which makes it feel all the more homely! <3 Really great value for the amount paid. Don't judge on the very good price - Highly recommended.
Situated on the main street of the charming village of Pisté, this renovated colonial-style hotel is less than 1.5 km from the famous Chichen Itza ruins.

This hotel was such a wonderful place to be. Set back from the main road, with all the buildings nestled in the trees. We stayed in the suite and it was so lovely for the price. Staff were very helpful and sweet. The upper pool area was very relaxing and we had lunch served to the beach beds. Not sure what’s going on with the bigger lower pool, looked a bit dilapidated but didn’t bother us because we used the other one. You need a car there. We went to Chichenitza one morning at 8:30 and beat the crowds, it’s about 10 mins away by car.

Get there early and head to the Osuary complex so you can have it all to yourself. Most people go the other way. The night show was cool, but not required, the daytime is a requirement for every explorer!

Stay in Valladolid and drive-- or better yet stay in Piste- and walk to the ruins and get there when they open at 8am. On the Sunday morning we arrived at 830am, there were less than 25 people that we could see-- total-- and no vendors yet. Our photos of the main pyramids have literally zero other people in the background, and we saw lots of colorful birds and enjoyed the empty grounds.
By the time we left at 11:30am, there were 3 or 4 thousand people there, mostly arriving on tour buses from Cancun, and the vendors were aggressive and noisy and it was less appealing of a destination. YES get there as early as possible.

Always impressive to visit but too crowded and touristy the last couple of times. The parking lot was only available for tour vans and buses so struggled outside to find a parking spot. Had to walk 600 meters to get to the ticket booth. Next time I'd go as early as they open to avoid crowds, heat and parking issues.

Chichen Itza is amazing!
Chichen Itza is amazing! Well worth suffering the heat and bugsI (even in February)
There are lots of vendors selling their wares. I've read that they are not usually handmade, which would explain why so many things were only ONE Dollar! Heard someone say not to buy wooden masks etc as they would not pass customs.
Bring: hat, bug spray, sunblock, water.
C.I. is very isolated. There are tour buses that take you from Cancun to CI.
It's a full day and usually about $120 dollars. Be careful not to confuse dollars and mexican pesos. At this time the peso is about 20 cents so 100 pesos is $5 dollars. I recommend bringing a debit card and some mexican $. ( Can be purchased beforehand at AAA)
Wear sturdy closed toe shoes as it is very dusty and rocky. No stairs, however. If you take a tour, they will feed you lunch about 2 pm. Bring snacks if you are accustomed to eating lunch earlier.
Be on top of your email and messages as the tour originally said they would pick me up at my hotel, but changed to another hotel the day prior to the tour.
If you don't take a tour, I would rent a car. Bus and taxi connections aren't the best. I took a taxi from Mayalands hotel to Valladodid for about $35. Then I took a bus to Cancun central bus station, then a taxi to the airport. I spent about $75 and it took the better part of the day.
Taxi's from Mayalands to the airport run about $200 US.
BTW, the tour takes you to a cenote where you can swim. Bring your suit and a towel, plus water shoes. The trek at ILKIL was about 100 stairs and slippery.
One last thing, as of February 2022, one must wear a mask in Mexico ALL THE TIME.

It’s definitely worth it booking a tour guide as there’s so many details that need to be pointed out in order to appreciate the experience. Though most guides seemed to be asking for 900 pesos, which felt too steep. So we were actually very lucky to find a guide called Miguel who goes around in a little car (as he’s disabled), who charged us 500 pesos and gave us an amazing tour.
Also, you’ll find there’s LOTS of art & souvenirs for sale, and they’ll quote you double the price if you can’t speak Spanish… so I’d suggest waiting until the end and buying whatever you like after you’ve seen all the stalls and haggle!

This ancient Mayan ruin is well preserved and maintained.
This ancient Mayan ruin is well preserved and maintained. Kukulcan is amazing but you cannot access or climb it. Doing this ruin with a guide was essential as the experience would have been much less without the knowledge a guide has.
If you are in town to go visit the Cenotes or Chichen Itza this place is excellent! You are right in the close to everything that that area has to offer.
We can't say enough about Luis! he was the most helpful, knowledgeable and Friendly host we have had the pleasure of meeting.
The Breakfast he serves you is amazing and will even pack you your leftovers to eat throughout the day of exploring.
It feels like you are eating breakfast out in your private little jungle.
Perfect place to disconnect and relax.
We loved our stay at this hotel set on a quiet road in a green zone . Nice mexican architecture and although its not a new property it has been immaculately maintained. Rooms are on the smaller size but well appointed and comfortable are well laid out with seperate toilet. The pool area is really lovely and restaurant serves decent food. We enjoyed the early breakfast before heading to Chichen Itza.
We also rented the bikes and rode to Il Kill Cenote. Definitely worth doing.
Huge room, nice pool. Friendly supportive staff. Dream-location near the temples, with the sounds of the jungle.
Restaurant appeared to be very good and we returned there even. We don't do that normally. Also, during the day
you can have lovely snacks/drinks at the pool which is great when you come back after some hours at Chichen Itza, which
is really nearby and you can be there, long before the crowds come. We loved it !
Great value for money, lovely pool, tasty burgers.
Nice and close to Chichen Itza.
We came on the bus from Tulum. You can change at chichen itza and get bus from the car park to Cenote ik-kil for 16 pesos which takes you right outside the hotel! Then t
After our stay the bus to Merida picked us up right outside. Great location and the server at the restaurant was lovely
Chichen Itza is about 6 minutes drive. Hotel has basic facilities, staff were nice, parking and breakfast included (scrambled eggs, bread, sweet bread and coffee). It's good to stay for a night to visit the ruins first thing in the morning. My 2.5 year old son was with us and he enjoyed playing outside by the pool and sitting on the hammock.
Beautiful hotel and room. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. Located not far from Chichen Itza, but not within walking distance. We used a car. The hotel has parking. Generous breakfast. Good internet. There's a pool and a little garden around.
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. They even provide a free shuttle to Chichen. The staff also arranged for a doctor to take our PCR tests at the hotel - saved us so much time and money. AMAZING. Do yourself a favor and stay here if you plan to visit Chichen Itza.
This is a gorgeous, stylish hotel with a lot of history. The view from our room was incredible. Everything was clean and tidy and the food was excellent. The Chichen Itza tour guide organised by the hotel was knowledgeable, professional and friendly.
Luis is an amazing host, kindhearted , superfriendly and made us feel like home! magnificent host, amazing breakfast, good location. Also Luis gave us good suggestions while visiting Chichen Itza and nearby cenotes. Thank you!
The owners, Joel and Vanessa, were very welcoming and made us feel like family. They had wonderful recommendations on where to eat and gave us valuable information about visiting Chichen Itza and Cenotes in the area.
The hotel is well located. You can find a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. The room was clean and comfortable. There is a private parking inside the hotel. Good place to stay if you plan to visit Chichen Itza
The landscape and grounds are fabulous! Tranquil and peaceful picture-perfect place. The location is beautiful and close to Chichen Itza. Outside of the resort looks like the best Mexico has to offer.
The location was exceptional to go to Chichen Itza! the personal at the reception was extremely helpful and nice. We had a wonderful stay. The hotel has a beautiful garden and a great restaurant as well!
Pretty, spacious, classical hacienda-style hotel. Lovely garden/pool area. A lot of space in the bathroom. Nice breakfast. Good parking area. Super well located to get early to Chichen Itza.
Jungle location, room was very clean, good for wildlife photography! Decent enough food. Checking in / out was fine and smoothly handled. Great location for Chichen Itza.
Really close to Chichen Itza. Nice, and Clean. Nothing fancy. Has everything you need from a comfortable bed to a hot shower. The pool was a big hit with the kids.
