The location of the hotel is extremely central, close to all kind of attractions. You are within walking distance to various restaurants, shops, and convenience stores. The hotel is also less than 2 minutes walk from the metro (which has direct connections to both Pudong Hongqio Airports), so it was very easy to get around. I needed some medicine during my stay, and Marshall from the concierge desk was extremely helpful in assisting me in making sure I got what I needed. I would definitely recommend the hotel for anyone looking to visit Shanghai.

A beacon of 21st-century China, Shanghai is modernising at an electrifying rate. Nowhere is this more evident than the skyscraper-punctuated Pudong commercial district. The most distinct - the Oriental Pearl Tower - has a ball at the top and bottom and offers fabulous city views. A number of towers also twist as they go up – a feat of contemporary engineering.
This side of the city also houses Shanghai Pudong International Airport, while Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is over the Huangpu River in the Puxi district. An area of older and less dominating buildings, Puxi features the elegant Bund area whose varied architecture includes a surprising array of Art Deco.
With a choice of shopping centres and small shops beneath brightly lit neon signs just like Chinatowns across the world, Shanghai shopping is fantastic.
Other must-see Shanghai attractions include the wonderful Shanghai Museum and the Jade Buddha Temple. For a break from the hustle and bustle head to the Yuyuan Gardens, the beach or peaceful Zhujiajiao Water Town in the west.
Whether you choose one of the Shanghai hotels, apartments or hostels, take time to go to a tea house, a Chinese institution. Also worth sampling are Shanghai hairy crab, steamed dumplings and the freshwater fish so popular with locals.

Buzzing city, hyper modern and a lot of things to do and see. Also nice restaurants. And most important; very friendly people. Say 'Hello' or give a smile and you'll get a warm hello or smile back. Shanghai has two faces, the one in the daytime and the one in the nighttime when all building are enchantingly lit (The Bund).

Shanghai, a vibrant metropolis, seamlessly blends its rich history with modernity. Take a leisurely stroll along the Bund, an iconic waterfront promenade to witness the city's past reflected in its stunning colonial-era buildings.

Shanghai is a city to feel and live.
Shanghai is a city to feel and live. Sure there are more than enough museums to keep you entertained for a week or more, but the best part for me was the life and the community feeling that i saw all around.
There is always stuff going on and people walking around.
There are tons of nice places to eat at and the coffee scene is second to none.
The metro in Shanghai makes it possible to go almost anywhere you want for a super cheap price. The times we were lazy and decided to take a taxi we ended up taking longer time to reach our destination.
kind of close to the PVG airport Shanghai, around 4 miles away. The location is in a local shopping strip mall area, so it is not in a great area that you might think "fancy". Overall, the hotel is clean and so does the room and common areas. The hotel lobby looks kind of crappy with a few tea tables and chest map on it where local people may play the chest, but no standardized acceptance as a 4 stars hotel, and they charge you with 4 stars hotel price. The breakfast is good in general feeling.
For the first timer visiting Shanghai with limited time, Renaissance Shanghai Yuan Garden Hotel is “the perfect” choice. The main factors are “location”, “value”, and “amenities and services”. The hotel is right next to traditional shopping areas, Yu Garden, and few other touristy areas. It is also a walking distance to the Huang Pu River area. Although the timing was not right, December was quite cold and windy. But we really enjoyed the walk.
I arrived in the middle of the night and once I got to my room it smelled like cigarette smoke. The next day when the manager was on duty, he changed my room and upgraded me to a suite. Customer service means everything to me and I will most certainly stay at the Indigo Hotel next time I visit Shanghai. The room was amazing and the view was spectacular. Indigo Hotel was located in a very convenient location
In terms of location this is as good as it gets in Shanghai. Metro access under 2 minute walk. Direct access to Nanjing road, short distance to people square and tons of places. The rooms are comfortable although not very big. The breakfast is the best I have had in China and is well worth that of a high-end 5 star hotel. Bath and shower have strong water pressure and instant hot water.
Great location(straight on Nanjing road), large renovated rooms (we recommend a suite), extremely helpful staff (special thanks to Amy from Canton disco restaurant and Mia from reception!). Hotel has several restaurants (we tried Canton disco - one of the best we ever tried!, as well as Punch bar and a rooftop bar with terrific view). Please choose this hotel too your stay in Shanghai!
Location. The Bund is located at a short walk from hotel. Good restaurants offer around. It's very easy to get from Pudong Airport to the hotel by subway, simply take line 2 and get off at East Nijing Road Station (exit 6). We took the subway which is very cheap (7 Yuan per trip) carrying big bags and had no problem at all.
Location is the key. Hotel is sitting on a green line #2, which connects Hongqiao and Pudong airports. Also it's our line to go to see our daughter who is studying in Pudong, and our son is in Puxi. Also, kids can stay with us on weekends. Just need one more room sometimes.
The hotel is located close to the city centre. In walking distance there are many shops. The staff was amazing (I speak Chinese so I don't know if they can speak English). The hotel is clean enough and considering the price is one of the best options in Shanghai.
I came to Kempinski Shanghai few times as it’s the best hotel in Shanghai.
service, rooms, breakfast, staff, spa, pool, cleanliness, all are outstanding.
especially Mr. Ricky has shown a very high standard of support and professionalism.
highly recommended
The best of this hotel was its location to us, it was really good to explore Shanghai.
We enjoyed room service menu. The room was big and the amenities were good. There was a bath in the room. The view was great.
I had a wonderful stay at the Forson Hotel. I needed a place near the airport, and also near the hospital. It was perfect for both. It was also pretty easy to get into the center of Shanghai from the hotel.
Hotel's location is very convenient where nearby a shopping mall and restaurant. Second, the facility in the hotel's very good and in part of housekeeping, do their best to serve a cleanliness to customers.
One of the best locations. This hotel was the first five star hotel in mainland China. The finish is a bit old but still pretty good. Loved the swimming pool and squash court
The hotel so quiet, clean Locks homey.
The location ideal to visit the central Shanghai.
Not far from the metro station west Nanging road ln walking distance.
Staffs are very nice and the rooms are very spacious. This feels like one of the best in-city hotels we have stayed in; and the price is very reasonable.
