Rishikesh - the holy city, the city of Yoga have a vast range to offer to the pilgrimage.
Travellers not only across India ,but from abroad do have this city in their bucket list.
One may visit Neelkanth temple, Neer waterfall, Beatles ashram, the local market and how you can forget the Ganga Aarti at triveni Ghat, in the evening,
You may choose the adventurous activities also, like Rafting and bungee jumping.
And yes you may visit several cafe's at Tapovan, one which I recommend is Ira's kitchen.
PS - Plan your dates in weekdays to get most from it, otherwise in weekends, most of your trip goes in traffic jams only.

Rishikesh is amazing depending upon what you like.. take a walk around the Ganges, go hike for beautiful waterfalls and sunrises or spend your time in the Cafes sipping coffee and enjoying meals or go yoga, meditation and kirtan.
It's a balanced place to find whatever you like a corner for everyone there. I'd recommended Rishikesh as a getaway for weekend or more days to anyone

It's a mini world of its own out there!
It's a mini world of its own out there!
Come for the calm, peace and doing things at your own pace if solo traveling. If with friends, there are plenty of things to do as well. There are plenty of food options (non-vegetarian would be much less since it's a holy, religious spot). Cafes and restaurants abound! Random shopping for knick knacks and 'hippie' clothing is sorted. My favourite bit remains the serenity at the quiet spots at the river bank. Go and just inhale and exhale. Take a dip or two. Swimming is to be cautious and it's good there are regular announcements for visitors' safety as one shouldn't underestimate the calm flow of the huge river Ganges is. Rafting should be done if going for the first time. I haven't done it a second time around in my other two times there but would be game to check out the other adventure activities maybe next time. Maybe I should plan a longer trip and do indulge in yoga and all as it'll only be good for the body and soul. Another good thing is that if one plans, Dehradun, Mussoorie, Haridwar are all nearby. It's a great idea to get a two wheeler on rent as that makes mobility great.

Many years ago it used to be a good place to experience real indian Ashram life and you could meet quite a few spiritually impressive teachers and Swamis. You could sit quietly at the Ganges and join one of the many Kirtans in the evening. Prices reflected that atmosphere and time would pass quickly when you immersed yourself in that lifestyle.
But that time has long disappeared and nowadays it lives only on reputation from those days.
Everything is about money, even the Ashrams are now run as commercial enterprises and the quality of the teachings is mediocre at best.
You can get better Yoga training in most cities in the west.
There are lot of westerners having based themselves here to teach and rake in the money from naive tourists. Even the sadhus that would roam the streets have disappeared.
A lot that is being sold comes from China and everywhere there are Ayurvedic clinics and Well-being Spas and bad Latte's or cappuccinos cost as much as in the west.
Plastic pollution is really bad.
Check out McLeod Ganj, they are doing a bit better managing their heritage and nature surroundings.
Cheers

Rishikesh is a great place for tourists to stay. It combines the warmth of Indian culture, nature, adventure sports, good cafes and restaurants, and choices for accommodations. It is known for its Ashrams more than temples

On second day of stay we have visited Neer Waterfall,Which is great option to go.First day we went on triveni ghat for evening aarti and that was very goof experience . Also visited Neelkanth Mahadev Temple which is a great place to visit.Ramjhula and Lakshman Jula are great places to visit.Do not park your car on road side as high chances of challan by traffic police. If you want to have food like home , you may go approx two km away from tapovan. You may find good food on reasonable prices.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting joeys by the ganges
My contact person was Mr. Ashish Rana , I addressed that he was a great person along with as this is my first journey for Rishikesh he helped me during my journey for joeys by the ganges laxchmanjhula about the location stuff an all he has great skills set and really calm and cool guy I have seen in my life
Our stay at Bonfire Hotel near Rishikesh's secret waterfall was total paisa vasool, . The room was super cozy, perfect for chilling. But what really made it lit was the staff, especially the kind-hearted uncle, who treated us like long-lost buddies.
Bonfire Hotel is a total jackpot, The price to stay was way better than other hotels nearby, making it a total steal. If you're looking for a chill vibe and budget-friendly stay near Rishikesh's secret spots, Bonfire Hotel is the place.
I had an incredible stay at Holy River Hotel! The front desk staff were extremely helpful in providing recommendations for activities and scheduling. The breakfast was pretty great as well! The room I had was nice, clean, and spacious. The hotel also helped organize airport pickup and drop-off! While I didn't use the gym, spa, or yoga hall services, they also looked quite solid! Will highly recommend Holy River Hotel to friends and family who plan on visiting Rishikesh!
Not value for money, paid 6k for one day...and whole night electricity was missing...and we slept without electricity and my children were crying whole night...tried to contact staff but didn't pick the call...in six thousand rupees I could have afforded 3 or 5 star hotel and would have got best service...waist of money...not satisfied with service....room size was small...breakfast and dinner was ok.
The location of this hotel in Tapovan is unbeatable, with easy access to all the local restaurants, shops, and attractions.
The restaurant at this hotel in Rishikesh serves some of the most delicious food I've ever had. I highly recommend trying the local specialties.
I had a fantastic experience at this hotel in Rishikesh and would definitely stay here again on my next trip to the area.
The staff were very helpful from the time I arrived in Rishikesh up to check in. Everything was managed well by the family and assisted me with my necessities. Very clean and facilities were all working. Mint Restaurant at the hotel served some of the best food I had in Rishikesh and accommodated my food requests. Will definitely recommend it to other travellers.
It was nice experience with hotel rudram. Stay was like I am staying at my home they have provided even hot water as well for drink which is rare. Food was awesome fresh hot and hygiene and thing it was like home made not much spicy.
Staff and owner was also good and supportive
I stayed at Hotel Perfectstayz hills Rishikesh, and it was a delightful experience. The staff was extremely polite, and the room was clean and hygienic. They provided all essential products, making the stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended! Excellent day👍
The place is at the centre of the Rishikesh and every famous spot is near to it. This deal was worth the value and I really love d the hotel staff. They are just new that's why they are still adding more things but all in end, it was worth my price.
This hotel is very beautiful and nice. Its location is very good which falls near Laxman Jhula. You can go here and take a view of Rishikesh and see the view of Ganga Mata.
The staff here is also very nice and talks very nicely.
Just ok if you are not finding a decent hotel in Rishikesh . Food was just ok . Rooms and washroom were decent for a low budget hotel . It's a Rs.4000 per night kind of property but charges go to 9000 + taxes when full .
I like the most the mountain view room feeling awesome when you walkup in the morning and feel the nature I recommend my friends and relatives when you came in rishikesh only stay in grand rishikesh hotel
We are stay at this hotel sometimes .The cost of rooms is quite high for this area of Rishikesh, but rooms are cozy, especially those with a balcony overlooking the Ganges and Laxmanjula.
The WiFi is very good and the shower has hot water. The bed was comfortable and the hotel is well located. The owner is very friendly and happy to help with anything you need.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to others, if someone is planning to visit rishikesh and they want the best service, this hotel is the best choice.
