GALLE FORT is great for a one day visit.
GALLE FORT is great for a one day visit. The town is small and some shops are repetitive, with the same items for sale, but there are a few unique shops and restaurants which make a visit worthwhile. Sunsets are beautiful; walk along the top of fort walls. Take a tuk tuk to the local fish market just outside of town for vibrant local life and walk back. This Building is 400 years Old and in all our Travels of 30 years we have never lived in such a Colonial Building. The staff compliments the story behind this Colonial Masterpiece and they were Excellent. Service, Quality, Food and Drinks. It was a very Personalized experience living here because the hotel only has 11 rooms. We booked the Suite which was very spacious, Comfortable and Beautiful.

Galle is a city with a combination of a Dutch period fort and beach with all modern facilities. Dutch Fort is a very live well, reserved place with excellent attractions and choices. Walking over the museums and art galleries located in preserved ancient buildings is an excellent experience. fairly good nightlife available with ample choices of fine dining. within Fort, they charge higher prices due to high tourist demand. yet affordable eateries, supermarkets and facilities are available out of Fort within walking distance. Also people in Galle are very friendly, professional and helpful .

It's a 5 minute walk to pretty much anywhere in Galle Fort from the guesthouse but it's not noisy. Breakfast, served on the balcony, is a choice of the usual eggs, fruit and toast, with juice and tea/coffee. Or you can pre-order Sri Lankan breakfast which we did on day 2 and it was great! When you get back to the Prof's Place you are in a secluded oasis of tranquillity overlooking the sea and cocooned in a chill vibe. There's a lovely pool as well. The hotel is brand new and every feature has been carefully selected to give you a sense of luxury. The room we stayed in is secluded and has no road, neighbor's disturbance. The beds are really, really comfy. The shower has good hot water and good pressure too. The cleanliness is exemplary. The location within the rampart means that you can walk everywhere without the crazy traffic. The breakfast was a 5 star level.

For the price, I expected it to be a very basic hotel but it turned out to be one of the nicest hotels we stayed at full stop (at any price). The property is really beautifully designed and the staff were amazing. It's just outside of Galle and a TukTuk into Galle will cost £1 and take only a couple of minutes. It's also right across the road from the beach. Amazing place - would highly recommend!
