I expected a beach area with a south pacific vibe. Instead it was a theme park. We couldnt use the beach that the hotel overlooked because it was closed and had to walk 2 beaches over. Very disappointed.

Chatan is an ideal location for people visiting family...
Chatan is an ideal location for people visiting family members in the military. It's very close to most of the bases, and has a wide selection of hotels. There is public transportation, but It's very walkable (in most areas). We felt very safe walking around. The America Village there has lots of shops, restaurants and bars. There were three or four beaches that we saw.

The location was within walking distance of American Village and had a nice little taco place next door and a convenience store as well. There were easy-to-use washing machines and dryers in the hotelrooms! And the hotel provided liquid detergent free of charge. Had I knew it in beforehand, I had saved space in my luggage a lot. This is an excellent service in the place, where the temperature is constantly over 30 Celsius degrees, and the humidity is high, like it is in Okinawa during summer months.
