The hospitality and friendliness of the staff was the biggest highlight for us. They truly went above and beyond to make our stay special and memorable. For example before we arrived they proactively reached out to check whether whether there was anything they could help prepare for us, and when I told them we were coming to celebrate my partners birthday, they offered to prepare welcome champagne on arrival which was so thoughtful. They also offered an opportunity to upgrade our room, which we gladly accepted.
The room was unbelievable - panoramic views of the ocean, private outdoor onsen and really comfortable bedding. In addition to the private onsen, the staff let us know that guests could reserve time to privately use the hotels larger onsen on ground floor. This onsen was also lovely and a totally different experience and vibe, so we felt appreciative to be able to experience that privately too. The building is a little older but has been maintained extremely well. We found it to be very clean and full of charm.
The breakfast was outstanding, showcasing a range of different Japanese techniques and cuisine. It was definitely one of our favourite dining experiences even after 5 weeks of travelling in Japan! Coffee delicious too.
This was a really wonderful stay for us in all respects. An especially big thank you to the staff. Highly highly highly recommend.

It is a small town that offers a nice beach and some good restorants. It is perfect for relaxing a few days after the tour of the big cities. The first thing you notice is the absence of noise and then the blue sea fills your eyes and you feel peace hugging you.

We went during the winter season in February and it was good weather and an enjoyable stay! We were able to see the cherry blossoms! We saw komuroyama, the volcano omuroyama, did the jogasaki trail, went to kawazu to see the cherry blossoms, the imaihama beach where I definitely recommend to take a bike to go the beach!
I also recommend taking a day-pass at Ito station where you can take as much as you want the subway. However, for the mountains you have to take the buses so use your pasmo / suica card or cash. And it is also important to have a lot of cash on you because a lot of places take only cash.

I made a round trip along Ito coast.
I made a round trip along Ito coast. The west side is a rural area with its natural beauty and rocky beach well preserved. Not many people and houses, which fit my preference well. The east side boasts some world class white sand beaches, gorgeous rocky cliff view and small islands.

We needed more time!
We needed more time! We loved the coastline and beautiful beaches, the hikes and attractions. You need to be careful with transportation if you don't have a car: make sure you know what buses and trains you are taking in advance. If I could do it again, I would stay longer and rent a car.

City is charming, friendly and efficient people at the restaurants and shops. Safe to walk at night, my kids enjoyed the beach, and of course Jonathon’s restaurant.
Ate lunch at fresh fish restaurant, swam in the ocean in September, and enjoyed the outdoor large spa onsen.
My recommendation is K’s Guesthouse.
Available message at the outdoor spa too!

Food is delicious sushi 🍣 🍱 is fresh and restaurants have their special dish everyday. Where you can find plenty of options to try.
Super friendly host/owner who can communicate well in English. His morning walking tour is worth getting up for. Had great recommendations for places to eat and visit. Was able to tailor breakfast for vegetarians, too.
The room was clean and while I have a mold allergy didn't have any issues here (many old hotels/homes in Japan aren't good for me). The aircon was a high-end Fujitsu model that you don't see very often in lodging and it did a great job.
Fantastic location overlooking the beautiful sea. Enjoyed watching surfers in the morning from our balcony. Rooms very generously sized, clean, and had all the amenities we could ask for. Thrilled to have a king-sized bed in Japan. Check-in was easy and the staff was helpful in personally showing us to the room and also pointing out common amenities such as free drinks and the onsen. Parking is available with prior notice to the hotel.
This little heritage hotel have in-suite, open air and public onsan, it is very refresh to take open air onsan in the early morning, they separate the gender to enjoy the onsan by time, so need to spare some more time there to enjoy the bath, and which is worth; their general manager who greed us in person speak very good English and providing excellent japan style services. Last but not least, their in-suite dinning is a must try.
Hotel has its own onsen and less than a mile from “downtown” train station area. The hotel is dated and a bit grubby. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Onsen was lovely and breakfast was delicious. Rooms were dated- we had one tatami room and one regular room with beds. Comfortable enough. As of the day we departed hotel is undergoing renovations so hopefull they will update the building features.
Tastefully decorated, clean and peaceful. Rooms are big. There are 3 big common rooms for in-house guests to take meals, and chat.
Only the onsen was too small and indoor, we did not use but rather went to another private bath within 15 mins walking distance, recommended by a he hotel. With hotel voucher, guest can get a slight discount.
EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT AND DONE WITH CARE AND INTENT. We only booked a single night there, and when it came time to checkout, I couldn’t bring myself to leave. They did not have any availability, (obviously because it’s the best) so we had to book another onsen ion the same street. It was NOT as great as Ito ryokoku.
It's definitely one the biggest and comfortable hotel rooms that I have stayed so far in Japan. The staff was very cooperative and friendly. Spacious room, and bath. Beds were comfy and good in size. Loved the experience of staying there and will definitely stay there again. (stayed with family including kids)
We enjoyed the family hot spring room in the hotel which we did not find in other hotels. In the family or single used hot spring room, you can enjoy the privacy and avoid the awkward situation to face others naked. : )
the room is comfortable and spacious. there is a car park for guests next to the hotel.
The rooms are actually separate villas surrounded with trees so you get a full privacy. Rooms are big and comfortable. There are some beautiful private onsens and you can enjoy with privacy. Around the hotel there is a very nice hike to the ocean.
Nice quiet little hotel, location was good, probably better suited to people with a car like us as I didn't see a supermarket or eatery very close by. Room exactly like on photos, big with nice views. Access to a kitchen between 3pm and 9pm
the dinner was quite amazing and they would change the menu for every night u stay if u book for more than 1 night.
the hotel is close to the famous attractions such as omuroyama so definitely worth booking while visit izu
My room was extremely large for myself. Bathing facilities were disappointing for myself being a westerner. Getting familiar were my around the hotel, took a bit of time. Rather involved, until you get use to it.
The facilities are good enough, the reception is warm and careful, the shuttle bus is very convenient to go back and forth between the Izu kogen and the hotel, and the breakfast is also delicious, it is good.
Great experience!Hotel is by the sea and the view is very good. Breakfast is amazing. It‘s 20 min walk from Futo station. Hotel helped pick up our luggage at the station. Great service!
The hotel was located right on the beach front and also not too far from the train station. Was given a room with a view of the water even though i didn't pay for a room with a view.
Nice and cozy place, feels like home. The owner speaks multiple languages so no worries if you can’t speak Japanese. There’s also a vending machine in the guesthouse which i liked.
