Often overlooked in favour of its neighbour, Osaka, Kobe is an absolute gem of a city. It has a multitude of attractions, from the port and harbourside parks to the wonderful Nunobiki herb garden and hillside hikes on the other side of the city, to the old foreign merchants houses in Kitano Ijinkan-gai and the Motomachi and Sannomiya entertainment and shopping areas, there's a huge amount to see and do in Kobe. We gorged ourselves on amazing food, saw historic houses, enjoyed walking through nature, enjoyed food markets and took a harbourside tour. Bakery RIKI near our accommodation in Motomachi sold the most amazing pastries and Nankin-machi (Chinatown) had a wonderful, crowded, hectic atmosphere with hundreds of stalls selling cheap, absolutely delicious food. We will definitely visit Kobe again.

i travel to kobe for work regularly and usually don't do much sight seeing there; it is easy to find my way around, find restaurants and there is easy access to all sorts of places to visit in the kansai area; once we stayed at the outskirts of kobe, up the mountains, with stunning views of the harbour (private accommodation, sadly gone now) but there are some other nice places to stay in and around the city
The hotel was very close to the venue I was going to see a concert at, so it was convenient. Also very close to public transportation. It is probably close to many things of interest in that area. The staff was excellent and most of the customer-facing staff I encountered was at least English/Japanese bilingual (which may be of interest to those using this site). The breakfast buffet at the restaurant on the 30th floor was very nice and had a great view. The room was very clean, no signs of wear noticed. Everything felt very fresh and new.
Large room with double bed for the standard in Japan. With Genius price and the day we went, we paid only 6,300 JPY which is a great value for the room. Usually in Japan in the price range 6,000 JPY we got only a tiny room (8-10m2) with a semi-double bed at most.
However I have seen that 1 day earlier, the price would have been 20,000 JPY which will be not worth it at all.
Good location in Motomachi at the entrance of Chinatown. Can reach by walk (within 20-30 min) many places: sannomiya, port, ...
Parking is free if you drive here
Shuttle bus to Sanomiya station every 20 minutes where the central of Kobe is
Scene - right next to Kobe harbor that you get to enjoy the whole ocean outlet
Location - Mosaic mall and Umie are right next to the hotel with a short walk of less than 5 minutes that you can find more than 500 different restaurants and shops there
Interior design is Westernized, which gives people a relax feeling, unlike most Japanese hotels
Spacious enough
Very friendly and helpful staff, both at reception and in the breakfast area. The bed was very comfortable. The room was quiet. Bathroom amenities were good. I appreciated the humidifier. And not having carpet was great for a change. The breakfast was pretty good for a Japanese hotel. Very tasty. Good selection.
Asking every day whether I needed the room cleaned or towels changed was very eco. Makes sense to me.
The ‘English’ touch to the hotel was homely.
Mixed feelings overall. It is more like a tourist spot tuned for foreigners - something like sushi served in a Chinese restaurant.
If you feel like listening blues by Armstrong (played at the property) - that would be your spot. If you would like to get to an original Japanese ryokan - you should definitely look for alternatives.
FYI - dinner was way overpriced compared to what I have seen anywhere else in Japan.
thé public bath was extraordinary! the place was very clean and the people sharing the space were very respectful and courteous. I loved the fact that they provide both very hot and cold plunge pools. they were invigorating and restoring. the beds were super comfortable — firm and supportive. this hotel was supposed to be just a transit hotel but ended up being one of my favorite stays in Japan!
Convenient location. Have a restaurant and laundry machine. Toilets in common areas. Guest rooms have all the necessary amenities. Our request for two adjacent rooms was granted. This is important to us as we are a family of four and it is convenient to have adjacent rooms. Staffs were
helpful when request assistance with make restaurant reservations in Japanese language which we don’t speak.
It's only 3 minutes walk from the nearest train station. We arrived earlier than expected and the staff kept our luggage so we could leave to walk around the city. They were kind enough to send our luggage to our room when we came back to check in. We really loved the room, it was bigger than we thought and we managed to open our luggage (if you know generally how small the room is in Japan).
The Daiwa Roynet Sannomiya Premier was an excellent hotel. The rooms were spacious and well equipped with quality bathroom fittings. So comfortable. The staff were so accommodating and would go out of their way to help with anything. The breakfast is very good offering Japanese and Western options. This hotel so central to the main Sannomiya Chuo shopping area which is great.
One of the staff speaks good English and she is patient to explain everything to us during orientation. Meals are good, esp for dinner it is omakase full of surprises, breakfast is also good. A great experience if you have not tried any onsen hotel in Japan before. The private onsen is good and available easily, I like the effect of the kin water.
nice hotel, with japanese and western style rooms; in walking distance of Maiko Stn and Akashi bridge, easy ride to Sannomiya or Himeji (though i did choose the location for easy access to colleagues); very spacious room (as i knew from previous stays) and nice bar to spend an evening overlooking Akashi bridge and chat to colleagues
My room was spacious and well-equipped, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful, and breakfasy offers a good selection of Japanese and western item + a great view! There is a public bath and sauna for guests to use, which was a real treat too. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Kobe.
Location is very close to Sannomiya and close to different restaurants and shops. It is a little hidden away though, but it made it very quiet which was great. Breakfast was good too with both Western and Japanese options. Overall, a good stay if you're coming for a weekend trip.
Everything was wonderful. I got the best experience ever in Japan. The room was so nice with good view, living area, powder room. All tge staffs were really nice too. I'll recommend this to my friends and family when I think about arima onsen.
excellent western type hotel. encapsulates the japanese psyche around what the west is like. 'posh' in that sense. loads of people have weddings here. it's pretty corny but in a disneyworld way.
It was overall very clean, delicious meals (especially Japanese traditional dinner provided in our own room by the staff), staffs were very welcoming and kind, loved on-sen (hot spring)
Cheap price, close to train station, reasonable walking distance to major sights. Roomy with good storage space to put away luggage. Nice Japanese character to the facility.
Staff, especially miss S.Kim, who helped us to book our next hotel since it was available only in Japanese on their home page. Good location, very close to the station.
