I chose Okayama as a destination because I wanted to see Korakuen Gardens rated as one of 3 best in Japan. I also wanted to see Naoshima Art Island and it made a good day trip. The Kibitsu-jinja Shinto Temple was a fantastic complex. And out in the country a bit so peaceful. Another good day trip. The local Art Gallery had a good exhibition on and the Castle was one of the best I've seen. The town is just a good size. All conveniences without the Osaka scramble.AAnonymous - 8.0Scored 8.0

Bustling and thriving, really cool underground mall / restaurant alley next to the JR Okiyama station. Many dining options in that vacinity. I was only in town for eighteen hours, barely saw anything but had a nice visit on my way to the ultimate destination.

Very beautiful and underrated area of Japan. All the sights were lovely and it’s a good area if you’re interested in history, and leisure outdoor activities. There were beautiful gardens in the city including the wonderful botanic garden. The castle was also interesting. In addition, Okayama is a wonderful place to stay with day trips to wonderful cities/sites such as Hiroshima, Kurashiki, Naoshima or Himeji Castle.

We originally wanted to stay in the art museum hotel on Naoshima Island, but it was 6 times the price and not available anyway. We somehow found this is an unknown gem, its creation funded by a foundation that brings together artists and architects to increase the presence of Okayama as an art destination. The light and design of this space are unique and interesting and spacious. The bedding was luxurious quality, as were the robes and white night wear and slippers.

The location is excellent: 7-min walk to JR Okayama station, close to restaurants/shopping, but on a quiet street. The room itself was extremely comfortable for a solo traveler. Just large enough (and easy on the wallet as well). I loved that they have a large laundry room (5 washers, 5 dryers) on the premise. They even helped made dinner reservations for me before my arrival. Overall, a solid hotel!

Yet the hotel is nicely quiet, clean, comfortable and elegant. Staff speak perfect English, and is particularly helpful and warm to every customer. Breakfast was excellent and allows you to discover local products (as well as everything you would expect to see on a great breakfast buffet). I would 100% return there if I were to travel to Okayama again.
