A small, yet beautiful city on the Swiss part of Lago Maggiore which, for those who are on a circuit, is a must-come-to in order to visit Sacro Monte Madonna del Sasso. A jewel with an amazing view over the city and the lake, accessible both by foot or by the funicular (lovely).

Main reason to go their was the Indian Ticino Ride, Close to the lakeside and in the middle of the city we could celebrate until Midnight. Time was to short to discover all the beauty in and around. We took some short rides with our motorbikes having best weather.
We will come again.

Awesome small town on the shore of Lago Maggiore.
Awesome small town on the shore of Lago Maggiore. Clean, all buildings and streets are perfectly maintained. Very green, extremely picturesque - placed between Alps slopes and lake shores , with palms and lot of flowers growing around. Small but beautiful Old town, tasteful food. Just a small heaven on Earth, it still is expensive.

Locarno was fantastic but the funicular operator put me off.
Locarno was fantastic but the funicular operator put me off. He refused to speak and just pointed to tickets and signs when asked questions. Nobody was there and his vibe was we we're putting him out.

Locarno has a lovely location on the shores of Lake Maggiore...
Locarno has a lovely location on the shores of Lake Maggiore. In addition Locarno has developed a continuous walking and bicycle trail along the lake. We spent half a day walking to Ascona - another lake town. Another day we took the train 30 minutes to Bellinzona to explore the UNESCO world heritage castles.
Super great stay, they took excellent care of my food allergies- gluten free and lactose free. I had enough breakfast options. Only the parking was not included so you have to park across the street, but you only need to feed the meter 2 CHF 2x per day. That was no issue, we did it during dog walks. The rooms were great, nice lake view balcony(have to book for this-worth it). Extremely dog friendly and a great location to jog from! You can just go and jump in the lake to cool down in summer, which is a must in beautiful Locarno summer days!
Location was breathtaking, view from our balcony to the lake was the highlight of the trip.
The room was large and comfortable including a small loveseat sofa (fits 2 snuggly) and a separate chair.
Breakfast was very good.
The walk to the main plaza was just a few minutes away downhill.
Staff was very professional and willing to help on any questions we had!
Parking is inside the hotel itself, it's a separate charge per day.
Would recommend without hesitation, would love to be back soon!
We had a great time in Locarno. We booked the rooms with the shared bathroom, and even though it's not the same as having your own bathroom, I have to say they were very clean and did not bother us to use them at all. The location is great, there is a bus stop right next to the hotel and you can go to the center and other towns easily. The service was excellent, Everyone was very nice and helpful. And the breakfast was delicious, we enjoyed it every morning :)
We really enjoyed our stay in Locarno. The host was very helpful and very kind. The room had everything we needed - nice and comfortable bed with very smooth bed sheets, little terrace and even an AC for the hot summer evenings. Furthermore the high-tech shower was a cool feature 👍 only the distance from the city centre and the the train station is a little disadvantage, but there are many buses going regularly in all directions from a stop close by.
I was on the 4th floor (last one), the view was amazing. And I liked the most the size of the room, it was really big compared to the usual hotel room, the room was clean, the furniture was a bit old but it was fine by me. The location was close to the lake, so we used to go by foot.
I really had a nice stay, and if I'm back to Locarno I'll definitely stay here.
the hotel is very beautiful and modern. the bathroom in the room is a piece of art 😁 the location is amazing near main station. the staff was helpful and friendly. There’s a nice breakfast in the morning, the only thing is that I would like to have as option some vegetables like tomatoes and cucumbers for breakfast. Everything was great, recommend this place 😊
The building and location were both amazing! Very cool history of the old hotel and how it became the bed and breakfast. The staff were very friendly and accommodated any requested we had. We had to check out very early our last day (before breakfast) and they still provided hot tea and to go fruit. Very thoughtful and nice!
The balcony is very nice. The apartment is of good size and very new. The bed is comfortable. There is a coffee machine with plenty of capsules, something unusual and very welcome. It is somehow between Locarno and Ascona, so both can be reached by walk. However, busses and trains stop nearby.
Great location!. Hotel was nice and clean, modern, and easily accessible. We very much enjoyed our family room. Had to leave before breakfast so can't comment on that. Staff was friendly. Really enjoyed our short stay here, would recommend
The staff was really superbe, even offering unexpected public transportation passes to enjoy all throughout Ticino! The breakfast was wonderful and elegant, and everyone waa extremely kind. A nice, quiet stay in a great location.
The hotel is very close to the train station, just in one minute walk. The staff are very nice! Because I arrived at the midnight, they told me how to get the key and it's very convenient. The breakfast is also very good.
Nuno welcomed us very warmly to the hotel. The Breakfast was very good. The location was pretty good. You can reach the city center really good by foot. Also there is a bustop nearby. The rain shower was also very nice.
Lovely coming back to Hotel City Locarno after a few years. Nicely located hotel, with friendly staff and wonderful restaurant Per Bacco attached to the same building. A short but sweet overnight stay.
The staff were very helpful, especially with the bus system. The walk down from the hotel to the lake was entertaining in and of itself. The room was comfortable and breakfast was good.
Cinzia and Nadia are the most lovely and welcoming, the hotel is in the brilliant spot and close to everything you may want to see in Locarno. Lovely breakfast and comfortable room.
The breakfast was super good, and nice terrace to have the breakfast there. Confortable bed, nice view from the balcony to a green park with birds singing, and excellent location.
Only few steps from the train station and with a bus stop in front of the hotel
Great view of the lake from the balcony
Friendly staff
Nice breakfast buffet
