The rooms were well equipped with quality linen and pillows. Our room had a Nespresso machine, and this was very welcome after our trip to Zermatt. We also enjoyed the access to the large and well-fitted sauna. The shuttle from the train station was on time and they delivered our luggage back to the station when we departed.

A beautiful car-free village in the Swiss Alps, Zermatt is world-famous for its skiing and mountaineering qualities. Standing in the shadow of the impressive Matterhorn, this is a true Alpine paradise, popular with both celebrities and citizens of all nationalities.
Surrounded by stunning mountains and plenty of hiking trails, Zermatt offers more than just pretty views. The nearby Sunnegga Paradise ski area needs to be accessed by 3 successive means of transport: a funicular railway, a gondola and a cable car, making it a great ride with an even better finish! And in Zermatt, there is still even more!

Its mesmerizing and must visit place, especially during snowing time. Entire Zermatt town covered with snow is a must see. Walking around the old cobble stoned streets and the trip to Gornergrat in snowing time is a thrilling experience.

We stopped in Zermatt as a way station so that we coud take the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz, after visting Geneva for a week. The Glacier Express is a fantastic, slow train ride across the country with amazing views of the Alps and so much more. While in Zermatt, we went up to Glacier Paradise (over 13,000 feet high) so get a close up view of the Matterhorn and Alps - simply stunning. The ice cave there is pretty cool, too, all puns intended.
We're not skiers and Zermatt is obviously a world-class ski resort, but there's plenty to do for non-skiers, great restaurants, and of course, the amazing scenery.
It's really worth a visit as well as a ride on the Express to see the countryside. (If you're a couple, go first class and get the single seats facing each other with a table in between. Skip the meal though - it was lousy and served way too early because they have so many to serve - in our case, chicken tetrazzini at 11a.m. Not ideal. Just bring some good food on with you, and order cappuccinos or drinks on board if you want - there's service at the seats.)
(The attached photos are from Glacier Paradise and it's ice cave.)

Lively touristy town.
Lively touristy town. Advertised as being free of cars (neccessary because of the narrow streets) In practice, so full of electric taxis and delivery vehicles that one feels no benefit. As in other winter resorts, one's enjoyment is very dependent on the weather. We were very disappointed by the poor signage for winter/in-between-season walking paths

We chose Zermatt for a family ski vacation in late season and chose a chalet close to the Matterhorn Express station. We enjoyed the skiing, and on mountain dining at Chez Vrony, and Gitz-Gädi Restaurant. To get around Zermatt we utilized taxi, busses and walking. Since there are no cars it is exceptionally pedestrian friendly. Do note that free bus system closes at 7:30pm so if you stay out late you will need to walk for pay for expensive taxi. Since our chalet we had a kitchen and chose to shop at the market and prepare many of our meals which is cheaper than eating out.

I have skied in seven different countries and at some of the most famous ski resorts in the world. Zermatt is in a class by itself for the scenic experience. If you love mountains, you need to go there once in your life. You will be blown away.
Really great location! Just a few minutes walk from the station - we saw quite a few other people walking uphill to their hotels so it was really nice to walk just a few mins and be there.
Lovely staff, very welcoming and helpful.
The room was very comfortable and clean, we loved the fire in the evening.
But the best part was the Spa - such a calming, wonderful space to relax in after a morning of hiking, or to sit in the sun after a busy day.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zermatt.
This hotel is amazing! Our family of five found the suite to be very spacious with a cozy vibe. It’s a quick walk to everything in town, including shopping, restaurants, and the ski lifts, and the amenities are really nice, with a pool, hot tub, and sauna. Free breakfasts are delivered to the suite, which is a luxury. We cannot say enough good things about the staff either. Everyone was very kind and went over and above to make our stay amazing. We definitely recommend it!
this hotel is located in a very unique location, with an amazing matterhorn view... the decoration of the rooms and the restaurants are very nice and mountain style chic. They are mostly concentrated on the 4 restaurants and the bar, with its F&B and the service..., upscale level..., but dont expect the same for the Hotel...., the concierge Mr.Marvin is perfect, he tries his best, even opens the ski room and helps to fix your boots, during 11am and 15 pm
We got an upgrade for the best room in the hotel. The hotel exceeded my expectations . The breakfast has many options and is fresh and so delicious . The staff is super friendly. Especially the greek girl at the reception is so nice and helped me with a few things. The spa area is very cool. They even serve an afternoon tea at 5 pm which is a nice touch. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking to have a relaxing time with family.
Our room has a really nice view of Matterhorn and a cute balcony. The breakfast is also really good, we enjoyed it a lot. The staff is also very nice and helpful. The location in my opinion is the best among all the other hotels in Zermatt. Walkable distance to both side of the gondola and also close to bus stops if need to take a bus. Walkable distance to the shopping and restaurant area in Zermatt town
Very cozy apartment, and an excellent value compared to hotels in town. Close walk to the main lift, and there is a small market nearby for basic groceries.
The host is the most generous host we've ever experienced, and she went above and beyond to help us in a travel bind.
Would absolutely stay here again if we return to Zermatt (which is likely, because the skiing is incredible!)
The hotel itself is fun and centrally located,… the ski room for equipment is great as well (eg., boot heaters!)
The best part is the staff - they were incredible. We left a daypack in the train, and (weeks after we’d returned home it was recovered). Nikolas went to the SBB lost and found, picked it up and shipped it to us. Incredible kindness and service!
Exceptional hotel! The experience starts when the hotel transfer from the train station to the hotel. We were welcome with welcome drinks. All the staff are super friendly and helpful especially check in counter. The breakfast spread is the best for my entire Switzerland trip. I chosen the room with Zermatt view and the view is magnificent.
Stunning view of the Matterhorn, stylish new boutique, hotel with comfort and character. the breakfast in the morning was top-notch. The spa and pool areas were also wonderful, and Staff was always friendly and eager to help. We would definitely stay here again if we ever have the privilege of returning to Zermatt.
I can't say how much I loved this perfect little hotel. A lot of Zermatt has gone 5 star luxury for the super tacky or ultra hip trying to get the young snowboarders. This is a quiet, authentic, genuine family hotel all done with love. The perfection of absolute simplicity. I adored it and will go back forever.
location. views of the matterhorn. food. it’s luxury but is not pretentious. the staff is great. the spa is awesome. the bowling. the facilities for kids. this is without a doubt the best mountain accommodation i’ve ever visited. this is a very unique place and an unforgettable experience.
Everything. Miguel was very gentle when I arrived, recommending nice things to do depending on the weather. The location is the best, only about 200m from the train station and you can do everything by walking.
For sure when I return to Zermatt I will stay in this hotel.
This hotel is superb, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the rooms were the best, with a lot of amenities, the hotel even provides coats to stay on the terrace and enjoy the Matterhorn view, we were delighted and if we are back to Zermatt we are staying here.
Hotel s always superior for breakfast. Restaurant appears permanently closed. Staffing or profit problem after Covid? Convenience to lift is the best. Any closer you would step in lift at front door of hotel. I 75. Ski 70 days a year. This hotel is great
Everything was perfect.
Rooms were spotless. The little cakes were delicious.
Toiletries smelt divine.
The pools were great especially the infinity pool outside.
This is the best hotel in Zermatt.
I will be back for my fourth visit hopefully next year.
The best thing about Hotel Alpenroyal is first and foremost, the location. Its high location in Zermatt provides a good view of the matterhorn mountain.
The room is clean, the beds are comfy and the breakfast is enough to satisfy your morning rush.
The view in the Matterhorn view room is insane. The beds were comfortable, the location is great, the price is right. For those reasons this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Switzerland. I’d absolutely recommend and I’d book again!
Everything except for the room is a little too small but the view of Matterhorn from the room beats it. The hotel manager is very personal and friendly, the breakfast is one of the best that we had in Switzerland.
Best Western Boutique Hotel staff and facility were fantastic. Dining, including the breakfast was varied and plentiful. Room cleanliness and feint desk staff were professional and courteous.
