Aberystwyth looked a little run down since the last time I visited about 20 years ago ..a lot of student lettings on seafront and the majority of buildings needed a coat of paint.
We were advised to go to pier restaurant where apparently they did steaks and various other options but when we went they only served fish and chips. Very nice but abit disappointed there was not a menu. Served in a box with wooden cutlery, a bit disappointed that we had such lovely views and a nice atmosphere and had basically a take away but to eat indoors .
We had breakfast at ‘The Home kitchen’ that was lovely
General the local pubs are very nice and not too expensive.
We did have dinner at the Marine hotel that was very friendly and inviting
Constitution Hill was an experience you can either walk up or go on the cliff railroad and when you get to the summit there is a lovely restaurant/bar not to mention the beautiful views from the outdoor dining area

I liked the shopping as lots of craft shops and charity shops. Lovely walk along the front and you have the ruins of the castle at one end and the funicular railway at the other end. Worth going up in the funicular as lovely views at the top and the café has delicious ice cream.
There are lots of bars and places to eat so you won't go thirsty or hungry.
I can recommend an Indian Restaurant called the 'Light of Asia' - very tasty food and a good vegetarian selection.
Also a vegetarian/vegan café called 'Dragonfly Bistro' with lovely food and very friendly staff. I would recommend the Sunday Roast but book a table as they are very popular.

I loved the bay and the coastal walkway.
I loved the bay and the coastal walkway. I was disappointed with the condition of the properties along and around the seafront. A feeling of neglect around the small streets. Lots of seagull droppings and rubbish cluttered these areas. The area around the train station was more desirable.

Had events worth attending. We managed to get last tickets to an event showing that it is popular to locals and visitors
Bikes from all across UK headed there on a sunny day. The roads were fantastic and the places of outstanding beauty were stunning too!

We enjoyed the closeness of everything and being able to walk to most places. It was an interesting town which we look forward to exploring more fully on our next visit.
We ate at a restaurant right next to the station, The Athro lounge, good selection for vegetarians and child friendly, to be recommended.
The room was well ventilated and the staff gave us a fan, without us having to ask, due to the heatwave. In addition to this the view was over the town and had an excellent shot of the Library of Wales. Furthermore we ran into the staff on a night out and were as lovely and friendly as they were at the hotel. Finally the TV had an assortment of streaming services such as Netflix and Disney +, which meant we got to watch shows we otherwise would have been able to see. I will be staying here again when I next come to Aberystwyth.
I stayed twice at this hotel over 2 weekends and love the place and also all the staffs were friendly esp Sarah, Jane, Awn, Elle, Marcus. My room was, on both stays, clean and spacious. Bed was comfy and tv was an internet tv so i was able to watch my favourite K-dramas. The seaview room was absolutely stunning. Breakfast was adequate (would be a plus if Richmond offers selection of halal meat). Will definitely stay there again and recommend to friends.
The beds were very comfortable, and the living space was comfy and spacious. The location was great, right on the seafront, and we could park right outside the apartment overnight and for the whole day after checking out. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful; we had a minor maintenance issue that was sorted immediately. It was really handy to have a place with a kitchen where we could make ourselves an evening meal after a long journey!
The room was very spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is an older hotel, but they maintain it very well. The young lady at check-in is extremely sweet and nice, and a wonderful host for the hotel. She also was in charge of breakfast the next morning. Hotel is in a great location, just walking distance from the water. The breakfast was wonderful.
This hotel is situated at the quieter end of Aberystwyth but easy walking distance to restaurants/bars/shops/beaches. Due to Covid, there were restrictions on what the hotel could offer but the staff were lovely and really helpful (giving us some great advice on things to do). The rooms were very clean and much of the hotel looked freshly decorated.
Really good place to stay with breakfast food available as needed. Lovely big comfy bed and the hotel is perfectly placed to access everywhere in Aberystwyth. The complimentary drinks and biscuits were delicious and thank you so much for the complimentary bottle of wine. We loved sitting in the Juliet type balcony sipping this in the evening.
This was our second time staying at The Pier Hotel and we enjoyed it just as much as the last time. The location is brilliant for a morning walk along the seafront (I highly recommend the coffee at P.D.'s Diner) and there is a cheap public carpark by the castle, just less than 5-minutes walk away,
Very easy to get to and the location is superb, right on the seafront. Ample parking freely available in front of the hotel. Staff was welcoming and the room cosy, even if a bit on the smaller side (compared to the others I had on this trip). Breakfast your standard good quality and filling.
This is a lovely hotel, recently renovated to a high standard, and ideal for a stay in Aberystwyth. The room was comfortable, breakfast very good with wide range of options, and the bar friendly. Staff were all very good and I would choose this hotel to stay again in the future.
The hotel was close to all attractions. Very large room with extra large bed. Plenty of hot water for bath/shower. Couple of things missing from the room when we arrived but this was fixed straight away ( took into account they were understaffed).
Good choice of breakfast.
It is a wonderful location just 5 mins from Aberystwyth with parking on site. The room was cosy without feeling small with a bathroom attached. Sam was lovely and was very helpful when needed. Felt very welcome. Breakfast was also lovely!!
excellent location. The apartment had everything that you could need for a few days away. Very clean. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and looking forward to staying again the next time I’m in Aberystwyth.
Perfectly situated on the beach, and with complimentary spa facilities, this hotel is the go to place in Aberystwyth. courteous and friendly staff will help make your visit a stay to remember.
