FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Difficult to suggest places to visit as I lived in Bath for 4 years during the 80s, so this wasn't a sightseeing visit. Ate at Ponte Vecchio, which was really good if a little pricey. Easy to get around Bath on foot, but leave the car at home if possible.

A delightful City, full of history, beautiful buildings and sights. It is easy to walk around and there are plenty of excellent cafes, restaurants and bars for the weary. Particularly worth a visit are the Baths and the Cathedral. The theatre too is in a historic building and has a good repertoire, giving a pleasant way to spend an evening. The surrounding countryside adds to the attraction of the place. Well worth a visit.

A very beautiful city with lots to do.

A very beautiful city with lots to do. The Roman Baths are well worth a visit, expensive at first glance but there is much more there that it looks and very interesting too. Sally Lunn's is the place for the Bath Bun if you can get in. Lemon curd may sound weird but it is delicious! Of course the architecture is amazing and it was interesting to see the honesty in the Abbey when it came to reporting on the influence of slavery.

    A Quaint Dip into History

A Quaint Dip into History Bath, a city renowned for its UNESCO World Heritage status, indeed holds a charm that whispers tales from its Roman and Georgian eras through its well-preserved architecture and historic sites. Our visit to Bath, although pleasant, left us with mixed feelings, primarily due to the city's somewhat limited array of attractions. The highlight, without a doubt, was the Roman Baths, an astonishingly well-preserved site. Equally impressive is the Thermae Bath Spa, where the blend of historic and modern indulgence allows for a relaxing dip in Britain's only naturally warm, waters. However, once we ventured beyond these renowned spots, we found ourselves searching for more to see and do. The city, rich in history, seemed to lack the vibrancy and variety of attractions we've experienced elsewhere. The dining and shopping experiences, while satisfactory, didn't stand out as exceptional. In conclusion, Bath presents a serene escape with a few noteworthy landmarks that are worth visiting, in its elegant tranquillity, is perfect for a quick, peaceful getaway.

This is one of the best boutique hotels I have stayed at so far. It is in an old 18th century building but was recently renovated. The decour, the choice of colours (loved the royal blue with white), the finishing, the attention to detail - everything was superb. Our room faced the inner garden that added to the beauty of the place. The bed was super comfortable, there was also slippers and robes for the guests. The staff was very nice, helpful and responsive. When I am in Bath again, I will definitelystay in Kennard again!

Great location in upper Bath, which is a lovely part of town, very near The Circus and Royal Crescent. Our room ( Master Deluxe) was very spacious and comfortable, with a huge bathroom. Breakfast was included in our rate and was very good, with many choices. The hotel has several nice common rooms and lots of outdoor seating as well. Staff were all friendly. We also took advantage of the valet parking which was super convenient.

Really nice rooms, comfortable beds, large bathrooms, and incredible breakfast and coffee. We stayed during an unseasonably hot week in summer and the rooms were quite warm and didn’t cool down. They did have fans but some were broken or not hooked up correctly (no water tank hooked to the portable unit) which made sleeping tough. Overall, nice hotel with friendly staff and wonderful food. The heat was the only downside.

We took the best room in the hotel because I concluded that from the window you could see Bath Abbey.
