Old Conisbrough is a very pleasant backwater, and is well connected for getting to Doncaster, Sheffield and other big towns by road or rail. The A1(M) is about 10 minutes away. There's a good range of shops in the town centre, including a Sainsbury's, several takeaways, a pharmacy, post office, craft and charity shops and pubs. Conisbrough castle is within walking distance, and worth a visit. Stringer's garden centre is a short drive away, and has a great cafe and shop. The roads up to central Conisbrough wind around the hill and some are one-way. They are also quite steep in places, which might be tricky in icy conditions.

Lovely little town with dog friendly establishments, good choice of places to eat or takeaway. We went on a really nice circular walk with our dogs which took us through the countryside and over the viaduct, which gave lovely views of the area. A really nice relaxing trip, with everything available in the house to make it homely and comfortable. My friend arrived on the train, which was very close by and within walking distance of the property.

Conisbrough town centre has a range of shops, including a Sainsbury's and a number of takeaways. The "Sea Fish" restaurant/takeaway on the A630 Doncaster Road is outstanding, and very reasonably priced for delicious fish and chips. Stringers nursery/garden centre is very good, with a nice shop and cafe. The Essar petrol station on the A630 usually offers the cheapest fuel in the area, and has a small convenience store inside. Conisbrough Castle, which has been refurbished in recent years, is definitely worth a visit. There are great views from the castle and from Conisbrough viaduct, and nice local walks. The A630 links Doncaster with Rotherham, and beyond to Sheffield, and junction 36 of the A1(M) is just 10 minutes away, so it's handy for day trips north and south. There's a train station and bus routes for those wishing to leave the car at home.
