FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Edinburgh is in a stunning location, built around an extinct volcano. The castle is in a commanding position on high from the city, the main shopping is situated along Princes Street facing the castle and grounds below, and there are many hill walks for views that can be undertaken, including Calton Hill and Arthur's Seat. A delightful array of Edwardian/ Georgian architecture is all around.

Edinburgh is lovely, so much to do!

Edinburgh is lovely, so much to do! But make sure you take day trips throughout the country, I went to the highlands. There was a day trip that started out in Edinburgh and it was worth it. I liked old town and went there for a walk every morning. I also climbed Arthur's seat, I went early in the morning, which was a good choice because on my way down it got very busy with people walking up.

Lots of things to do in Edinburgh. Can be pricey to drink but most cities are. Food can be found for as cheap or as expensive as you need it to be as plenty of fast food options and lots of high end restaurants to choose from. There are many places of interest to visit from museums, gardens / parks and entertainment venues such as the playhouse and cinemas.

We stayed here for one night before an early flight from Edinburgh airport. The hotel was clean and comfortable. We ate in the hotel restaurant. The food was good, if slightly expensive, and the waiter who served us was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was only a few minutes drive from the airport so handy for us. It was also close to the tram line so would be easy to get to the airport or city centre from here. We didn’t have time to use the pool due to arriving late and leaving early but the leisure facilities looked good.

The view was the best I have ever had from an hotel room, Delicious hot full Scottish breakfast with plenty of toast, brown and white bread. The Manager was polite, obliging, and helpful. Cracked the occasional funny. Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Highly recommended. If there was a downer it was the cost of taxis into Edinburgh approx £18,00 but then parking is virtually impossible. We were lucky to have arrived midway between the Rockville and City Centre to meet a friend and a car just vacated a spot as we pulled up

We had a brilliant stay in Edinburgh, the hotel were brilliant. We were surprized by the size of the room, as we expected something smaller. The bathroom was a really good size with all the necessary toiletries. The staff was brilliant, very helpful, they kept our luggage both on the day or arrival and departure. The hotel is right in the centre, 1 minute walk to the royal mile. It is a brilliant location if you want to explore Edinburgh city centre. We really enjoyed our stay and we will be going back again.

Newly renovated, nicely furnished, friendly guest house. Ian and David were welcoming, available, and helpful, with excellent tips and pointers on Edinburgh in general and the local area in particular. Breakfast was very good ("Lorne sausage" is an acquired taste, but it was not compulsory). The fresh bread at breakfast (baked in-house by Ian) is a lovely touch! Location is decent for access to the Old Town, with a very pleasant 15-20 minute walk to the Royal Mile. The regular buses cut that time in half.

Best location in Grassmarket area, close to old town, royal mile and new town. Modern lobby and rooms. Room very large with huge sofa seating area. Extra comfy chairs, large TV. Made for enjoyable down time. Very nice bed and bath. Staff very helpful entire visit. Did not eat at restaurant, as several small cafes and bakeries within steps. Perfect hotel for visiting the city and walking. No car needed. Certainly stay there again.

Amazing location, just two doors from the Royal Mile and St Giles’ Cathedral. 3-4 blocks from the National Museum of Scotland, where we spent a full day exploring. Our room was elegant and looked out over the park below Edinburgh Castle. Nice to have a mini kitchen. The staff is friendly and helpful. Guido, Alison, and Anna all helped make our stay memorable.
