We enjoyed our stay at the Kellbank Hotel, but unfortunately, the village of Gosforth left something to be desired. While there was a shop available, they were unable to provide us with fresh sandwiches. As a result, we had to drive up to three miles in order to obtain them before embarking on our climb up Scafell Pike.

I was pleasantly surprised by this village or little town.
I was pleasantly surprised by this village or little town. I loved the warmth and homeliness of the red stone vernacular architecture - cottages, farmhouses and barns. The churchyard is not to be missed (the church itself was closed, unfortunately) nor is Gosforth Hall Hotel. I was in Gosforth on a Sunday evening, the worst time to find anywhere open for food with the added complication that I follow a strict vegan diet. I was amazed, therefore, to find that the Budgen's store also has a pizzeria but, sadly, the vegan pizza option was not available. There was another pizza place, a bakery and a cafe, all closed during my visit. There are 2 town centre pubs and a free public car park.

A very small village but has a Budgens supermarket, a lovely bakery & a couple of nice places to eat & drink. The Lion & Lamb, and the Kellbank are nice pubs with good food.
Lovely, historic church with some interesting history.
Just off the A595 main road that takes you to other villages/areas.
Close to Muncaster Castle, a good day out.

For a small place they cater very well for visitors, the food we had when we went out to eat was excellent (The Lion and the Lamb) and not stupid money either. Gosforth has been catering for climbers, hikers etc for years and years and they have got it right. Before I forget there was free parking there with a donation box only, where in Britain will you find that, well done Gosforth.

Stayed at The Kellbank which had a superb restaurant and menu. Also visited The Lion and the Lamb, The Globe and the Simply Fresh shop which were all great friendly places.
There is a cash machine in the main street but all venues take card payments.
Location is perfect for a trip to Scafell Pike, took around 20 minutes to get to Wasdale starting point by car.
What an amazing stay! We arrived late and the owner welcomed us and had no issues at all. My gluten free dietary requirements were taken into consideration and the owner went above and beyond yo meet them.
The quality and variety of breakfast is comparable to a 5 star hotel. As are all the little snacks and the variety of teas in the room.
Excellent location for doing Scaffel Pike from Wasdale.
I would definitely recommend Raynors Farm to anyone.
It was one of the highlights of this trip.
Really great breakfast included, loads of variety with vegan and gluten free options! The staff were great - checking if our baby needed a high chair and that the food was all ok at the restaurant, also super friendly and helpful with local knowledge. Shower/bath was fab. Bed comfy. Room very clean! Biscuits in room was a nice touch! Lots of parking and good location in the Lake District. We were very happy with the Kellbank! Room was a very good price also!
Based on the price paid for a saturday night stay £49 - it was good value for money. It’s central, there’s parking that can be used nearby, breakfast isnt included but the shop across the road offers breakfast items, there are a number of places to eat on your doorstep. The rooms are comfortable and better than expected- check in was efficient and friendly. The bar area downstairs was fine and there’s the options of other bars nearby
The pods are perfect for a couple get away even room for the dog! It was clean and nicely decorated. I was presently surprised to have a fridge to keep drinks and snacks cool. The garden is great for bringing a dog as it’s fenced off so I could happily let the dog out to play in the garden without worry of losing her. The hotel is the perfect distance away to nip in for food and drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Mill cottage was very tidy, clean and well- prepared.
Gosforth is a lovely place and you can find a lot of local goods around.
There is also a pub just around the corner and the food there was very good. I would recommend going there.
Gosforth is also close to a lot of beautiful lakes and mountains. Lots of lovely landscapes and plenty of hiking to do around the mountains!
The Globe like many other Inns/hotels are suffering from staff problems. The family,
who run the pub, especially Kelly, treated us like family so we really didn’t notice the shortages. What was lacking in the Globe was was accommodated by good amenities in the town.
Immaculately clean and beautiful decor. Fantastic and helpful host. The place offered a great selection of drinks to purchase from the honest bar and a good selection of breakfast options. One of the best boutique hotels I have had the pleasure of staying in.
I always stay at the globe when visiting family in Gosforth, i just love this little old pub. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable. Perfect little place to stay with the dog. I normally have room 6 but this time i had room 2 and it was perfect.
Was not an ideal location for us, but, the only hotel room avaiable at the time. Stayed in the annexe which met our needs. Breakfast and evening meal
were more than acceptable. Would stay again and also recommend.
Unique location on a working farm. Was great to watch this from the table in the garden. Simple key pick up from host who communicated superbly. Great location close to Gosforth and Wastwater.
Couldn’t be any more happy with my brief stay at this hotel. I fully intend to return in the not too distant future. Have to give a special mention to the staff who were absolutely excellent.
