Location on the waterfront was perfect. All staff from the moment we arrived were friendly and helpful. Our room was modern but cosy. Will be back!

Due to my husband's birthday, I arranged a surprise overnight stay and for our in-laws to join us for a celebratory dinner. We were allocated The Regatta room, which was absolutely beautiful and clean. Our views overlooked the pavilion, lake, and gardens. The bed was exceptionally comfortable (we like a firm bed). We had champagne with our Afternoon tea which was wonderful. Our full English breakfast was very tasty too.
This delightful hotel, situated just off of the A14, is within easy driving distance of Ipswich town centre. Rooms have free Wi-Fi, free mineral water, a TV and an en suite bathroom.

We were in Ipswich to watch the last championship match of the season at Portman Road.
We arrived on the Friday night and shared an amazing tomahawk steak at "The Grill At Twenty5" which had a lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff.
We watched the match on Saturday and spent the rest of the day soaking up the atmosphere with the wonderful Ipswich fans.
After sobering up and taking a break from the wonderful sun shine, we had our evening meal at Mariners in the marina which hosts a French restaurant on a restored 19th century boat with heaps of history and character.
We had to leave early on Sunday but would have loved to explorer further afield.
Will be back next season to see a premiership game (ticket permitting).

i liked Ipswich ,the town is small but with very nice old architecture from Tudor era, mix with Victorian style of course the moderns one are present there too. The coffee shop are the best you will remember Ipswich for this for a very long time. There is a park to visit which is very close to the centre. Suggestion: walk in the park visit the Christchurch Mansion Museum for free go to the top but when you come back take the streets along the park you will meet with beautiful, beautiful houses. In Ipswich you don't get lonely the people are very nice there , they are quick to know you and have a chat. Then there is Marina....a good place for a restaurant where you find different dishes from different countries. Then there is a football stadium too. There is lots to see around Ipswich. There are two important markets with bus station so from Cat Market I travel by bus to WoodBridge, Kersey and Felixstowe with best fish and chips etc the villages are one more appealing then other that I recommend you to visit.

Maybe we are not looking in the right places but our view of Ipswich is that of a run-down, sad town. Even the waterfront seems an unhappy place.
The nicest hotel-run restaurant we could find for breakfast by the waterfront was probably a lovely place at some point but was worn out and in desperate need of redecoration. We run away from Ipswich for the third time, to decompress in beautiful Suffolk countryside where there are dozens of nice, well looked after towns

I've lived in Ipswich for a good 15+ years.
I've lived in Ipswich for a good 15+ years.
Since my return it has changed for the worse and just feels empty and lacking of anything worthwhile to do.
Parks are good (mainly in the town), lots of charity shops, bookies and pubs but lots of high street shops have closed or just boarded up.
Out of the town, lots of nice pubs to visit and walks if you have a pet or two.

The city has easily available, if you have a car, or like a walk. Access to supermarkets for us as we prefered to dine-in. Plus easy access to points of interest in Suffolk. Great selection of National Trust properties within day-trip distance.

We visit Ipswich Atleast once a year to see family, it is a pleasant city with plenty to see and do. If you are driving I recommend paying close attention to your satnav because the roads can be slightly confusing! There is a lot of history behind Ipswich which can be fascinating also. There are plenty of places to dine and drink whether that’s at a local McDonald’s or a restaurant you won’t be short handed.
The Salthouse is a very comfortable hotel with views of the marina at Ipswich and close to shops in the town centre. Ipswich has a fine array of old buildings many from the seventeenth century and before - well worth a visit. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The in-room breakfast was excellent. There is good well-managed on-site parking. Ipswich is close to world-class heritage sites including Flatford Mill, the location for many of the paintings of the eighteenth and nineteenth century painter John Constable.
I've stayed here multiple times now and the experience has been faultless every time. I've pretty much stopped using hotels in Ipswich when I need to stay as this is a much nicer experience. The owner is really friendly and accommodating, the place is spotlessly clean, the facilities are everything I'd need an d more. So much nicer to have more space than just being confined to a hotel room and the little extras such as a pint of milk and a loaf of bread are fantastic. I've recommended this place to everyone I know.
I stayed a week in order to attend an event at nearby Trinity Park with my dog. I had an excellent stay - the staff, without exception, were the friendliest of any hotel I have ever stayed in - nothing was too much trouble. The room was a decent size and recently decorated and the bathroom appears new. Dogs are welcome in the bar area (where you can also choose to eat) and the breakfasts are fantastic. All in all, my dog and I were made to feel very welcome (and a special thank you to Maisie for the dog treats!)
With a Booking.com Genius discount this place punches well above its weight. The room service was so fast it was if the chap who brought it came from a butler's cupboard next to the room. This place probably has the best location of any half decent hotel in Ipswich. Less than 5 minutes in cab to all the fun central locations and a two minute walk from possibly the best cocktail bar int the East of England. I suspect this may be the best hotel in Ipswich central. The rooms are lovely with balconies and a view.
The room, a superior double, called Tisane was a very pleasant space. It had a big comfortable bed, two arm chairs, plenty of floor space, 2 big windows, an outside door, little private courtyard with outdoor seating with table, the bathroom had good lighting. The whole space was clean and in good decorative order. There was even a little fridge. I would very happily stay in that room again. The whole hotel looks beautiful. I would definitely stay again if in the area.
It’s one of the most interesting, swankiest fun curious hotels that I’ve ever been to. Even though they try to make it seem like it’s a movie theater. It seems more like a nightclub vibe. You walking to the main entrance, and you greeted by the hotel staff behind the bar/rececption. The dining area is fun. You can play pool for free. You can play darts for free and play video games for free. There are several couches around for people to relax and socialize.
I had the most incredible stay for so many reasons. The location is perfect- literally right next to the train station, with easy links to Ipswich and London. The pub is beautifully decorated and so cosy. I was seriously impressed with how gorgeous the room was- everything was spotlessly clean and the bed was super comfortable. Lastly, the staff were so welcoming and friendly! Certainly a home away from home and I look forward to staying again!
The pool and wellness area is good and generally clean. Would stay again for that alone. It is fairly close to the town centre and in nice quiet grounds. The garden looked lovely for in summer months. The staff were all lovely. I think we had the warmest welcome to a hotel ever.
The staff were really friendly, received a very warm welcome, especially in the bar! Really nice bar area, very comfortable and drinks were reasonable.
Couldn't get parked in hotel car park but plenty of parking over the road which was also cheap!
The hotel went above my expectations, and the staff was courteous, the room was clean, and the environment was calm.
It's a place for solo travelers, couples, or family. A must-visit in Ipswich, also Sainsbury is close to the property.
I stayed in a king premium and was pleased with my room it was very clean and comfortable. Reception and common areas are very eye catching. The grounds are well maintained. facilities and services were very satisfactory.
We got to the hotel very early but were lucky enough to have our rooms ready and get parking. The hotel is very close to the town centre, football ground and about a 15 min walk to the Marina.
Comfortable stay. Breakfast buffet was very good. The hotel's central heat was out and they had temporary space heaters in the room. It was not a problem for us as it did not get very cold.
The owners are such lovely people and available to help you with anything. Location is quite off the main centre of Ipswich but is a lovely and quiet area, perfect for a nice weekend off.
Enjoyed my stay here, was very quiet, bed comfortable and very clean so it ticked all the boxes for me.After staying in some very noisy hotels thhis was a pleasant change.
