Burlington Guest House, hotel in Lagg

Burlington Guest House is located in Whiting Bay. Free WiFi access is available. Featuring a shower, private bathroom also comes with a hairdryer. Extras include bed linen.

We were staying on the Kintyre Peninsula but decided to have a 2 day break to Arran. Due to the fact we had our pet we were limited with options of where to stay, however despite a lot of negative reviews for The Burlington we opted for it and was so glad we did. The staff were excellent, location superb and breakfast brilliant.

Viewbank Cottage, hotel in Lagg

Viewbank Cottage is situated in Whiting Bay and offers a garden and a terrace. The holiday home consists of 2 separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a living room.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we could possibly have needed. The owners were available if needed (which we didn't) but unobtrusive. Sitting outside with views of the sea was quiet and relaxing.

The Garden Room was beautiful. Agnes has an eye for interior design. Lots of extra touches which you wouldn’t receive in a hotel. The welcome pack was all home baked and the fridge was stocked with essentials which was so appreciated. Agnes is a wee diamond. She looked after our every need and we came away having made a new friend on the island.

So glad I took the time to read recent reviews.

So glad I took the time to read recent reviews. We almost stayed in Brodick closer to the ferry. This hotel is a beautiful place to stay. The owners are so friendly, the food is excellent, the gardens are tranquil and you feel a sense of tranquility. There is a bar and restaurant which is nice depending on your time of arrival. A stream goes through the gardens and just sitting outside is so peaceful. There is a trail nearby which takes you down to a remote Bea h with beautiful scenery. Well worth a visit. I would say for travelers going by car to take the coastal road and not the Ross road.

The owners must make it clear that their restaurant no longer exists prior to making a non refundable booking It is also unacceptable that it took 2 days to return my phone call It should be marketed as a simple B&B rather than a hotel.

Owners and staff at Lagg very helpful and friendly. The best part about our trip was the very hot water after a day's cycling followed by a dram by the fire and the superb cooking, using freshest, local ingredients.

Peaceful setting, not alot there, you are soon through it. Lagg distillery is just down the road where they have tours, an excellent coffee lounge and a bistro where we had an excellent meal at a pop up event, which they have regularly through the year. Staff cannot do enough for you.

From check in to check out we felt the customer service was superb even though the hotel was full and very busy, the owners couldn’t do enough for you, with smiles on their faces. Our rooms were comfortable, decorated lovely and the bathrooms were huge! Dinner was amazing, delicious and well presented. Breakfast was great, the fruit was fresh and tasty as was the fully cooked full Scottish, we loved the quiet but beautiful location with the flowing river and bridge! And the roaring fire in the lounge was lovely. We will definitely visit again.

the hotel has very good food service, the dinner is superb, and the breakfast has a lot of options including the full hot breakfast. the location is in the main street, so is very easy to locate, and the bus stop is just in front of it, and also is a very tranquil and quiet area. the hotel is decorated very elegantly and with a lot of victorian details. Also, they have a nice garden where you can relax by reading a book or taking a whisky. The personnel was very kind and helpful, making my stay as comfortable as possible.

Jules & Lee and all the staff were very welcoming, any request we had was met with ease & pleasure and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts and dinners were tasty and plentiful, and our room was comfortable. The Lagg is dog-friendly too which was great and we especially loved the 'kids' room' downstairs & lounge area for chilling out and playing games. The surroundings & gardens are beautiful and lush, even in March! Never seen to many bumble bees at this time of year before :)

The location was great, lovely gardens all well kept and available to use. Staff were all friendly and more than helpful. Everything was spotless and hygiene levels were great and a great system to keep people safe during a pandemic. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious and presented well. Lovely lounge area with open fire to chill in after the meal. Breakfast was also great and highly recommend a stay at the Lagg to anyone.

Quite a remote little valley, so very quiet. The hotel is quite dated in terms of decor (think seventies or eighties) but it is a charming old inn. Food was great and staff pleasant and helpful. It rained torrentially the one night I was there but the gardens looked like they would be gorgeous to sit in. There is a bus stop right outside so very handy if using public transport to get around the island.

The owners were fantastic - friendly and helpful well beyond the normal. The Lagg is set in beautiful grounds and a great job has been done appropriately decorating & furnishing this historic coaching inn. It is also home to the Velo Cafe which is well worth a visit.
