From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Rebecca who was warn , cheerful and friendly we were made to feel welcome immediately. The hotel is tastefully decorated with fine furnishings. Our room was superb and with a sea view. Prior to our arrival we had already had a three course lunch so unfortunately, we had no room to dine in the evening. Our breakfast was amazing and upon our check out we were able to speak to Steve. He was pleased with our comments and we ended up chatting about all sorts of things, that’s what we call friendly. We will definitely be going back at some stage and would highly recommend the North Cliff Hotel

What a wonderfully charming little place!

What a wonderfully charming little place! I wish we were staying longer! Already looking at going back as soon as we can! Clean beach area, lots of wonderful coffee shops and food places and little shops to browse in! Lots of parking, parks and pubs close by. An ideal place for a weekend with family or as a couple! Views are wonderful from everywhere! Lots of places to visit close by such as Cliff railway, Valley of rocks, Glenlyn gorge It had been on my list to visit for a while and I truly can’t wait to go back!!

Good location for the many walks near by.

Good location for the many walks near by. Not many places to eat in the evening if you didn't want to drive any where. Lack of toilets for public use. You need to be quite fit to get the best out of Lynton as it is very hilly. People are friendly which was very good. I would recommend the Crown Hotel for food and good service.

    We really enjoyed Lynton.

We really enjoyed Lynton. We walked from our hotel in Rockford and enjoyed a pint and great fish and chips on a quiet, out of season Sunday. I imagine it's a different proposition in the Summer, but we prefer places like this when it's a bit quieter.

    Lynton/Lynmouth - vey nice area.

Lynton/Lynmouth - vey nice area. We hiked from Lynmouth up the hill - going right to pub 'the blue ball inn' - then on to Watersmeet - from there up the stream to Rockford Inn and then down to Lynmouth again. Really nice walk!

A small and friendly cliff side town with a wonderful cliff railway and a tea shop selling the very best cream teas in all the surrounding area. Ample parking in a large convenient carpark to the town with many shops and facilities.

The room was well decorated and well furnished, with two lovely chairs in the bay window overlooking the sea. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was lovely and spacious. Breakfast offered a lot of choice and the foot was great. The couple who run the place were also lovely. There is a sister hotel just 100m down the road where you can also order an evening meal, which gave us generous portions. I also love the honesty bar. It felt very homely and more like an apartment as we also had use of the guest lounge as well. Would thoroughly recommend.

17th Century Hotel which has been nicely renovated by the present owners. very comfortable and clean rooms- ours had double doors which looked directly out on the garden which was perfect for our dog. Breakfast was really good and plentiful. The owners Jan and Kevin were really friendly. The Hotel is in a beautiful quiet location with some lovely walks an views easily reachable, yet only a mile or so from Lynton or Lynmouth. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

We were very happy with the Gable Lodge. The room was very comfortable and bright, with a balcony to sit out on. The breakfasts were amazing, as were the evening meals too. Ann and David's local knowledge was spot on, and they were very friendly. Valley of Rocks was only 15 minutes walk away, as was the Cliff Railway. Both a MUST SEE. Loved Lynton and Lynmouth. Great Crab Sandwiches, my first!!

The location is very picturesque, and surprisingly quiet given how close it is to Lynton and Lynmouth. Nice to go to sleep listening to the river. A bit distant from shops etc. if walking, but this wasn't a real disadvantage for us. The cream tea provided for us on arrival was a nice touch. We also enjoyed the use of the e-bikes hired from the owners.

old fashioned Inn next to the river with access to some foot paths. The Inn has parking for cars. The bar area has lots of character and real fires. The Inn stock a couple of beers draft but everything else comes from bottles. All the beers are from the Exmoor brewery. The evening meals were nice when available. Our twin room was clean and tidy.

Let me explain why do I think this property is a 10. This is an old hotel. It is not the cleanest and beds are far from being comfortable. However the staff is nice, location is superb and for the price of a tent in that area you are getting a room with a shower and place to sleep. I think it’s a great deal.

location is superb, easy access to the coast path and an easy drive to Exmoor. Breakfast was great, excellent quality. As a vegetarian who dislikes meat substitute products I often find problems when eating out, but not at Longmead House. The best breakfast I've had when away for years.

The welcome and service was very friendly, and breakfast was excellent. Whilst the location was down a very narrow road and a little away from things, it was a lovely location by the river and good base for going any direction in North Devon
