Holiday Inn Newcastle-Jesmond, an IHG Hotel, hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne

Explore the vibrant city of Newcastle at the Holiday Inn, Jesmond, a four-star contemporary hotel with 119 comfortable and stylish ensuite bedrooms.

The hotel was fine and good location. We had a bit of a payment issue and reception wanted to take a card off the employee we had sent to stay in the hotel. They then took payment form this card, even though we had organised through booking.com and a company card and all details were already taken and charged. This was dealt with, refunded, and taken form the correct card but took a few phone calls and chasing on my end. I've not had this issue before. All fine in the end, stayed an extra night due to work commitments, and allocated the same room at the last minute to avoid messing. Breakfast wasn't had but looked like a decent selection. Staff friendly and mostly helpful.

FAQs about hotels in Newcastle upon Tyne

The Spirit of the North

A former Industrial Revolution hub, Newcastle has reinvented itself into a vibrant, forward-thinking city. Although no longer brewed here, Newcastle Brown Ale, or Newkie Brown, is synonymous with the city, so it’s no surprise that the nightlife is fantastic.

From the O2 Academy to the Sage Music Centre, the Newcastle music venues are among the best in England. The city also has a thriving arts scene, including The Biscuit Factory – Britain’s largest original art store.

Equally as good is the Newcastle shopping. The Central Arcade is in an attractive Victorian building, and across the River Tyne in Gateshead is the Metro Centre, Europe’s largest shopping and leisure complex. Indeed, these 2 cities have a healthy rivalry that plays out in sport, architecture and, sometimes, the bizarre.

Gateshead boasts the Angel of The North, a huge statue that is already its most recognised (and controversial) symbol. While in Newcastle the Vampire Rabbit sits above a door near St Nicholas’ Cathedral. Newcastle United Football Club has the most prestigious record, but Gateshead Stadium has seen many a star compete at its international athletics meets.

To the west of the city are some remains of Hadrian’s Wall and further north is Newcastle Airport. See Booking.com for a range of accommodation all over this happening city.

A supreme location in Jesmond. Not only interesting in itself, but ten minutes from the City Centre via the two close by Metro Stations. Staff are all great and friendly and full of local knowledge. They go above and beyond. All the staff are great, but I wish to give a big shout out to Melvin and Timmi! Fantastic breakfast options. And the adjoining restaurant- Chakh Dhoom - serves the best Indian food I have ever had… bar none. If you’re staying in Newcastle, long term or short term, I really can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.

It was in a good location, near the location of the gig we were going to at the boiler shop. We did go to the hotel first, based on the address given on booking.com, and were kindly redirected to the aparthotel just round the corner a bit- easy enough to find. All the staff members we spoke to were friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was spacious, super clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed and more! Great value for money and would definitely recommend staying here and would stay here again if visiting Newcastle.

This hotel was ideal for flight stopovers…it is 5 min walk max, just across the car park from the airport doors…it was clean, friendly, very reasonably priced…and the bar food served till 10pm was grand, we had scampi and chips and salad and it was very nice. There was a restaurant but we only went in the bar…seating in the bar was comfy and atmosphere relaxed. Absolutely recommend for flight in and out of Newcastle, or indeed a visit to the city as you are straight onto the metro into the city centre (about 20 mins or so journey) …
