Oban is a city built around a late 18th-century distillery that produces one of the finest single malt whiskeys in Scotland. This normally peaceful town is invaded during summer when tourists use it as a base to visit the Inner Hebrides islands such as Mull, Lismore and Coll, supporting its status as the Gateway to the Isles.
The horseshoe-shaped Oban Bay is sheltered by Kerrera Island with its spectacular Gylen Castle. Award-winning seafood restaurants and lively pubs line George Street and the waterfront of Corran Esplanade adjacent to the harbour.
Take a short walk up the hill to McCaig’s Tower, a structure based on the Roman Colosseum, for the finest views of Oban’s centre and the outer islands. When you get back down to sea level, stroll into and stumble out of the Oban whiskey distillery after sampling the local version of the 'water of life'.
Admire the coastal scenery as you travel a bit out of town to the 7th-century ruins of Dunollie Castle, home of the Clan MacDougall. The Firth of Lorn gives visitors a fanatstic opportunity to try some sea kayaking.
As the capital of North Argyll, Oban has a great selection of hotels, guest houses and B&Bs available on Booking.com.

Oban is an absolutely beautiful coastal town with great access to the rest of the Highlands. The ferries were very easy to use and we had a wonderful time exploring the Isle of Mull and travelling past the Isle of Kerrera on the way. Also make sure to head towards Dunollie Castle and take the tour round - a great time if you enjoy history or stories of the clans.
All of the food establishments that we went to were delicious and had great options. Highly recommend the ceilidh dancing on a Monday and Thursday night as it was a cracking time.

Oban is a great base to explore the wider area or where you start you exploration of the islands. Lots of great pubs and restaurants. Good shopping facilities nearby if doing a self catering holiday m.
Everything! This was the most perfect stay ever! From the excellent host communication (who helped us plan so many things from renting e-bikes to booking a sea cruise), to the magical property location/rooms/fairy garden/lake. The breakfast was fantastic! This by far was our groups favorite stay of our 10-day trip to Scotland! So glad we booked 2 nights here! No one should book 1! You need to do 2 nights at a minimum! Oban was a delightful sea town too! Thank you Seyward for all your help!!
This hotel is what it is. It's not luxurious, it's not perfectly maintained etc. but it's the cheapest hotel in Oban, it's right round the corner from the harbour, so a great location, with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast for a cooked buffet is great, and there's a few choices of continental too.
If you are just looking for somewhere for a few nights to sleep, wash and eat breakfast, there nothing wrong with this place at all and I'd probably try again here when I return to Oban.
Being on your own always means a small room, but it was comfortable and provided what I needed. The hotel's cleanliness was great and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast cost a little extra on my booking but was excellent and served up speedily. The location is good, slightly away from the often crowded centre but still near enough, and with an excellent view overlooking Oban bay with glorious sunsets while I was there,
Daniel (the owner) was exceptionally helpful with recommendations for places to go (Dunstaffnage Castle). David was very knowledgeable about local whiskies, supplementing our tour of the Oban distillery nicely (they have an excellent selection in the wee bar at Manor House). And the food was fabulous. We came here after the Balmoral Hotel (Edinburgh) and had a better experience at the Manor Hotel!
We were down by another hotel. Booking cancelled 30 minutes before we arrived in Oban.
This hotel was available at short notice. We got a warm welcome at reception, the room was warm, clean and comfortable.
This was at a great location in the centre of town.
It’s an old building with character. The lift is old fashioned. We will certainly go back. Great value for money.
This is the best hotel I have stayed in, in Oban. It was modern, clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful.
I liked the breakfast very much - french toast with maple syrup. The location was ideal for me - about five minutes walk from the railway station (and ferry terminal), and also five minutes from the Tesco supermarket, and near the main street of the town.
Everything!… this hotel is perfect in every way… if you are lucky enough to be near Oban this is the only place you will want to stay!… the hotel is beautifully decorated, the rooms are spacious and the bed was exceptionally comfortable… the bathroom was fabulous… the evening meal and breakfast was delicious and all the staff are super friendly and helpful…
Corrimar made us like Oban. The room was clean, big and with big windows open to a fantastic sea-view. It’s only 10-15 mins walk to the city centre along the seaside. We are not fuzzy about breakfast. The restaurant in Oban Bay Hotel a few blocks away totally satisfied our crave for good food. To us, Corrimar House is perfect. We will definitely come back.
This hotel is in centre of Oban, close to shops, bus routes, train. Beautiful harbour nearby with ferry links.
Bedroom was very good size, clean linen each day, tea/coffee making facility with bonus Tunocks teacake each day.
Lovely breakfast each morning,
Very friendly staff.Bar facility available.
Place was spotlessly clean.
Hotel was fresh and clean. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We did have a bit of a hiccup during our stay, which was rectified afterwards. Rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Location was ideal for exploring oban and in walking distance of all the local shops and pubs.
Very well situated just across from the train station, bus stop and ferry, large hotel so many rooms to choose from also close to the central shopping area of Oban. They will look after your bags if you arrive before check in time and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Staff were friendly and very helpful on arrival. Room was lovely, clean and well presented. Bathroom very clean and modern. Great to be able to open windows.
Reasonable price for overnight parking in the off-site carpark behind the hotel.
Delicious food! Perfectly positioned for Oban. The area where the hotel is has the most amazing views! Plenty of parking too! Very friendly staff….
Will go back again……
This is an exceptional hotel and the location is glorious. We know Oban fairly well but really enjoyed returning there and having a night in this beautiful hotel.
Exceptional service and staff. A chic boutique hotel walking distance to downtown Oban. The restaurant at the hotel was also excellent. Highly recommend!
The containment of the hotel - room, restaurant, bar - some with amazing views! the Mussels in the restaurant were the best of all Scotland (this trip).
