The Cottage B&B, hotel in Porlock

Set in Porlock and only 1.8 km from Bossington Beach, The Cottage B&B offers accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking.

Lovely characterful cottage. Clean, comfortable and run by helpful hosts. Perfect breakfasts, comfortable beds, everything in good order. Well-situated in the most picturesque village. We stopped at Lynmouth to have a look around and stayed all day, walking the Watersmeet river path. This place is magical. Great conversations with other visitors to the area at The Castle pub. Step out of The Cottage into The Castle, opposite, from one warm welcome to another! Chris & Clare think of everything for their guests. You'll find a cosy lounge with coffee machine; boot storage for your footwear after a day's walk; books, games and conversation to help you plan the logistics of your stay if you need help. Thank you both.

The Duke of Wellington Wetherspoon, hotel in Porlock

The Duke of Wellington Wetherspoon is offering accommodation in Minehead. With a shared lounge, the property also features a bar and free WiFi. The units in the hotel are equipped with a kettle.

Exceptional value for money, for a double room at £76 a night, especially over a Bank Holiday weekend, when the West Somerset Railway is hosting its hugely popular steam gala. My room was spacious and reasonably well equipped, with tea and coffee in the room. Quiet too, despite being over a busy pub. Being able to just go downstairs to a restaurant for dinner or breakfast was great too, after walking miles all day! My room had an ensuite shower and bath, with plenty of hot water too. A comfortable bed and free wifi completed the picture. Key card entry to both the rooms and the access corridor was nice to see.

Out of season it is quiet and a lot of the shops/pubs/cafes have limited opening times. If you want a break from a busy life, it feels relaxing. The lanes can be narrow and winding, the views out to sea from Porlock Weir are great

Easy to get to from M5, coaster bus £2 runs every hour no need to drive, Top Ship best steak, but many good pubs and hotels, Whortleberry tea rooms best for cakes, shops and 2 supermarkets in easy reach, so many good walks, woods, coastal and hill, steepest A road in Britain, camp site and a coffee roasting and tea blending shop, an incredible place, perfection, well worth a visit.

Always somewhere to eat and drink.

Always somewhere to eat and drink. Most of the shops were open and a good selection. Easy to walk anywhere. Locals are very friendly. Do not confuse the Top Ship with the Bottom Ship! Same owners, similar menu and bar staff work in both. When booking a meal double check you have the right Ship

Porlock is an amazing place to visit!

Porlock is an amazing place to visit! It is old, very quaint. and quite special. It was an honor to roam the streets and check out the shops, particularly the Wortelberry Tea Room where we enjoyed cream tea, a UK favorite and now ours, and the museum. Neil and Tyrone were such gracious and helpful hosts.

Porlock is a little hidden gem in the County of Somerset, South West England. There a so many different types of walks varying from Exmoor pony and Deer watching to exploring the wooded coombes with beautiful flowing crystal clear streams. A walk through Horner wood is beautiful too and Webber's Post were you would almost certainly see the ponies close up. The village of Porlock itself has 3 lovely pubs, which all serve food, plus a handful of tearooms. Whortleberry tea rooms and the Big Cheese both deserve mention. I am a visitor to this beautiful place and find myself returning again and again to this beautiful friendly village.

Porlock Weir hotel is just down the hill from Porlock.

Porlock Weir hotel is just down the hill from Porlock. Right on the harbour front. There is a fantastic terrace by the harbour wall for eating wood fired pizza when weather is warm enough or just enjoy a drink whilst soaking up the view. There is a great lounge area. There is an informal bar area, where people with doggy’s sit. There is a lovely restaurant where breakfast, lunch and dinner are serviced. Porlock has lots on offer. Shops, small museum. Groceries. Cash point. Pharmacy and Miles tea. Whortleberry Tea rooms is a favourite and there is a great Cheese shop where you can grab a coffee and cake or a snack and stock up on a fabulous range of cheeses and chutneys.

A beautiful house in a wonderful location. Was so peaceful, calming and relaxed, it felt like staying in a very hospitable relatives country pile rather than a hotel. Our dog friendly room (Embercombe) was immaculate and spacious, with lovely views to the sea. Unfortunately, booking.com assigned us a non dog-friendly room initially so best to book directly with the hotel if you need a dog friendly room - I was lucky they were able to switch our booking when the problem came to light.

Warm welcome from hosts Helen and Shaun. The studio was spotlessly clean and in a convenient location just off the Main Street in beautiful Porlock. There was a small garden and courtyard for our dog to explore and for us to enjoy alfresco wine. Breakfast was served in our hosts’ nearby tearoom and we were given plenty of tips and ideas about where to visit and what to see - including the country’s tallest trees near picturesque Dunster.

The hotel is clean, up to my standard having worked in hospitality myself, attention to detail from the host is evident. Bed super comfy, warm and unlike many old hotels I could sleep, I could not hear people walking or talking outside. Breakfast setting and quality was great. A lot of effort has gone into this hotel with the excellent non -intrusive service from the host, this is a lovely choice for anyone staying in Porlock.

I'm a returning customer (but not frequently) My son and I travelled from Ireland by motorcycle to tour some of Somerset, Cornwall and Devon. The Lorna Doone is ideally situated for a weekend such as ours. Our hosts provided off road parking for us which was perfect for our needs. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous and the breakfasts very good. WiFi was spot on. All told, it was very good indeed.

Ship Bungalow is brilliant, so well appointed and kitted out. We felt like we were in a posh hotel ! The view of the sea from the sitting room window was lovely especially at sunset. There are fantastic walks from the door and everything you need in Porlock. We really wished that we could have stayed longer
