I only spent one night in Portree so my judgement is limited. Even before the tourist season started, it was quite crowded. I can’t imagine what it must be like at the height of the season. Skye is lovely but expensive compared to other locations in Scotland.

Skyelight Apartment is at a great location, very near to Portree town centre, maybe 1-minute walk. Nicely furnished, warm and cozy. Note though there is no washing machine. Otherwise, a wonderful accommodation.

Very touristy not quite what we’d expected restaurants we sampled not as good as on the highlands NC500 so for us I wouldn’t do Skye in favour of the Highlands I’d spend longer on the NC500 west side.

A beautiful highlands town.
A beautiful highlands town. Dinner reservations can be a bit of a challenge, however, you are on vacation typically and need to be patient. The food is definitely worth it - I stayed 4 nights and did not have a bad meal or experience.
We stayed here for 2 nights and it was honestly such a dream. The location is impossible to beat, right outside Portree and very close to The Storr. The room was cozy and very well furnished. Sally and Robin went out of their ways to make us feel welcome and our stay comfortable. We were here for our honeymoon and they wrote us a card and left us snacks when we arrived. The breakfast was delicious and Robin gave us recommendations for what to see on the Isle of Skye which we took and were so glad we did. Perfect B&B experience!
Kisteen and Amy made us feel at home the moment we walked through the door. Stonefield House feels more like a boutique hotel than a B&B. The rooms were spotless and the bed very comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent and set us up for a full day of walking. Providing a decanter of whisky for an evening tipple was a lovely touch. Stonefield House is located in a peaceful spot, but is less than a a 10 minute walk from the centre of Portree, so no problems at all with parking.
Staff were excellent, very friendly at both the reception and serving breakfast. Had some good tips about where to visit in Isle of Skye.
Rooms were clean (I was a bit hesitant as the hotel allows dogs but no dirt in the room!)
Big bathroom
Great location in Portree, on-site parking is very handy.
I like the interior design and viking-esque dining room, nice place to have breakfast.
Breakfast was great, no issues, great service
I would definitely stay here again!
We had a week long trip around Scotland and our two nights/days in Skye where definitely the highlight. The pods were just perfect: very clean, spacious and cozy, it was evident that the owners paid attention to every inch of them.
The location was great: the pods are located near Portree (10 mins), but in the fields to properly enjoy the peace of the island.
10/10 would recommend, I hope we’ll be able to visit again.
The Apartment was a great place for our short stay on the Isle of Skye.
Allocated Parking Space for Each Apartment, to the left of them meant everyone had close access.
Basic Tea/Coffee provided on arrival. Able to cook our meals and Sky Access on the TV, appreciated.
Bedroom was comfortable.
10 minute walk takes you to the harbour heart of Portree where Restaurants and Food shop are available.
Would Recommend.
Fantastic location, centrally located in the town of Portree and a great location to visit the points of interest all over the Isle of Skye. Nice to have the Nespresso machine. Thanks to our host to promptly responding to our questions. The host provided a detailed guide to the area prior to arriving which was very informative and helpful
What a beautiful hotel this is! It is in a stunning position outside Portree and on our two week road trip it was certainly one of the best places that we stayed. The room was beautiful with a lovely view of Portree harbour, the fixtures were immaculate and very new, the staff were very helpful and friendly and extremely accommodating.
The view from the room over Portree harbour is fantastic. The breakfast is excellent and also the restaurant meal we had was superb, they even gave us a window seat with harbour views as it was our wedding anniversary. The staff are so friendly and attentive so if we’re ever back in Skye we will be booking this hotel again, wonderful!
Clean and cozy home on a quiet street, within walking distance to Portree habor if you're a good walker. A good size for our group of five. The hosts have done little extras to make sure their guests have a good stay. Perfect base location for visiting all the places we wanted to see on Skye.
House was spacious warm and very comfortable. So well equipped and clean. Location 5 minutes from Portree Centre
Absolutely beautiful Loch on the doorstep-
Best restaurant in Skye is the Cuillin Hills Hotel with great views of the loch and is within walking distance from the house
Mery and Les were very good hosts, they gave us tips to access Portree, where to have the best ice-cream and which places to explore in Skye.
We were also very satisfied with our breakfast, and we had our first tattie scone in Scotland and it was delicious.
The hotel is a bit out of Portree but, it is well worth the 10 minute drive to stay here. The grounds are beautiful, the food was wonderful and the staff was incredible. We could not have asked for a more peaceful and welcoming experience.
Pretty, cosy and comfy room with great bedding and coffee machine. All clean and fresh looking. The room was quiet and private despite other rooms being very close. Location of hotel is fabulous overlooking the picturesque main harbour.
Excellent location in Portree, within a short walk to grocery store, town square, and the entire downtown area. Also walkable to the main bus stop downtown, which you can use to catch a bus to other areas of Skye.
Location was walking distance to Portree and highlights on isle of skye.
Prompt Service, dinner and breakfasts was very good.
Fire burning in lounge was a relaxing end to an intense day on single track roads
Very pleasant hotel and in a good location for walking to the main square in the centre of Portree. The staff were especially friendly and helpful. Was a little bit pricey, but overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Portree was the best location on our trip through all of Scotland. We had the best hikes imaginable.
The hotel offered the best location for overall access to the city as well as on site parking.
Very comfortable for a bit of down time in a homey setting while traveling 3 weeks in Scotland. The Isle of Skye is beautiful, with many walks and points of interest. Beautiful scenery.
Fantastic views and location on Portree harbour. Whilst the hotel is extremely basic it was comfortable and clean. Good breakfast and generally a pleasant and comfortable stay.
