An appropriate stop over on my way home from Scotland to Gloucester
One of the most unique hotels in Perth, set in a 15th century watermill, where you can still watch the water trickling through the original water wheel from the garden, reception area and Lounge Bar.

The building is amazing as is the area it is in. Nice touch being able to see the Lade.
This hotel is beside the River Tay, a minute from Perth Museum and Horsecross Concert Hall. Rooms are en suite and many have views of the river and the hotel's award-winning gardens.

The hotel is in a beautiful location, right beside the river and surrounded by woodland..........but very isolated
Great if you're traveling on, but remote if you want to spend a few days in Perthshire.
That being said, I would go back.
Main house is very grand, staff very nice and lounge is very comfy
Good, really good breakfast.
Dinner, although not taken, seemed a bit pricey

The room smelled very strange.
The room smelled very strange. There was a whoppingly large beetle wandering about in the bed.
The staff were pleasant, but frankly, I wasn't happy here. I was sent to the bar to order my food and to have it at a table there. This was quite one of the most unpleasant experiences. There were only men in the bar, and silence dropped bang as soon as I walked in, all seats were taken. I was the only woman in the room.
The barman asked me to wait to put in my order although I was the only person standing at the bar at that time. I waited, and waited, and then walked out, said to the admin staff that I would prefer not to eat at all and that I was not prepared to be put through the situation at the bar that clearly was uncomfortable for everyone.
The staff then found me a place in the lounge to order some light supper. The food was excellent. But frankly, this whole situation was like something out of a zoo several generations back.
And no, I would never go back.

noisy boiler flue attached to front of building, first room offered rejected as insufficient light and too noisy. On a positive note staff happily moved us to quiet accommodation in the riverside block which have good rooms, balcony overlooking the river and lovely view. Another positive was the evening meal which was superb, well cooked and presented, breakfast was a buffet which is not our preference.

We unfortunately stayed only one night at Ballathie House, but we will never forget this short stay. Our expectations were exceeded in every respect, most notably the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the exceptionally good and superb food.
The setting of the hotel and the landscape are just wonderful, there are beautiful forests and nature parks nearby.

The food and service was 1st class but unfortunately the room we had was next to the main extractor fan for the kitchen.
This fan was left on all night and we had little sleep.
We mentioned this to reception. Reply was they need more complaints to have
Management do something.
This was not a good enough response. There is no reason to have fan on all night disturbing guests. I would like to know a change will occur before considering a stay over again. Don't accept room 17.

A magnificient building in a lovely rural area giving a relaxing atmosphere with superb dining. This hotel would suit people looking for a quiet relaxing stay to treat themselves possibly for a special occasion.
We had a lovely stay at the hotel. The staff are so friendly and welcoming.
We dined on the second night of our stay and the food was to a very high standard and so delicious and the staff were helpful for pregnancy diet requirements.
Breakfast was also of great quality and my husband was very impressed with the choices. All in all it was a very pleasant stay, and the grounds were stunning with the autumn colours. Would definitely stay again.
I liked the location and ambience, a hunting/fishing house right on the banks of the Tay. The room was comfortable and convenient. The staff were attentive and helpful. In particular, the hotel was very dog friendly - the staff made a great fuss of our dog, and meals for dog owners were specially arranged and located..There was a Sportsman's entrance for cleaning off the dog after walks.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Dinner was served in the bar area and particularly good with a range of choices, well prepared. Breakfast was ample. Traditional old Scottish house with wood panelling, wide staircase, shallow steps and tartan carpet. Carparking was next to Hotel.
The staff were very pleasant. The accommodation was lovey. Very comfortable bed. The dinner was delicious and we enjoyed our drink in the lounge after dinner. A very enjoyable stay followed by a very pleasant breakfast. Lovely porridge! We will be back.
The room we had in the main building was really nice. Comfortable, well-equipped and had a fantastic view of the river Tay and the surrounding countryside. The walks around the grounds are wonderful and the hotel is in a very pretty, peaceful setting.
Dinner in the Bar as they allowed dogs. They also accommodated our dog in the alcove for breakfast so we didn't need to leave him in the room. Grounds are excellent as is the hotel. Already thinking of booking a longer stay next year.
Food cooked to order, an hotel with character and friendly staff and owner. Who were very helpful and polite at all times. We stopped at the tayside for one night on the way to Inverness. Ideal location, and comfortable clean room
Great little dog friendly hotel, staff were excellent, room was great, the food was amazingly good and we could take the dog in for breakfast. Just a short journey off A9 nth of Perth so excellent location for walking
Asked for a quiet room in the Riverside block and the hotel obliged. The evening meal is expensive but well worth the money for a culinary treat. Breakfast is also first class. Ambience is terrific!
The food was delicious and a lovely menu.
The main hotel building has a lovely old fashioned charm to it, like a by gone era...
Loved the atmosphere, and the staff couldn't do enough to help.
Welcome and location were wonderful sportsman lodge was lovely dappled light thru trees was a wonderful setting
Hotel was lovely and overall staff were very good
