Stroud is quite a big town in Gloucestershire and, as such, it has all of the shops and amenities one would expect. Plus, with a taxi rank, train station and frequent bus services to/from Cheltenham and Gloucester, among other places, the town is well connected. I would recommend it as a base from which to explore Gloucestershire.

Vibrant, friendly and historic town full of stylish places to eat and drink, unique gift shops surrounded by beautiful countryside. Local bus service was also very reliable on the Saturday ( well - better than my own at home anyway!). Public toilets in the town were clean and convenient.
I was on my own but felt safe even at nighttime.
Would recommend the indoor market, Stroud Bookshops, as well as Cornflower and Calico for kitchenware gifts. The Coffee House and Curio Lounge Cafe Bar were great places to visit as well.

Amberley Inn was in a village outside Stroud, the area was very picturesque and plenty to do in the area. The Aboretum at Batsford was exceptional with lovely autumn colour and the Cotswold Villages are a delight.

This is a lovely place to visit mainly because of the friendliness of the locals. Everyone I met was helpful and clearly very proud of their town. Loads of independent cafes and coffee houses in the town centre. For a special treat, The Corner House is a great place for a lunch or evening meal.
Note that this town sits in a valley surrounded by a number of picturesque but steep hills, so if you are walking out and about, be ready for a climb. Terrific scenery though, so worth it. I was particularly impressed by the number of independent shops of all kinds, especially those selling local artisans' wares. A great centre for all kinds of crafts.
Last year my mother and I have previously stayed at the Hidden house and enjoyed our stay so much we had to return again this year! Abi and Berkeley are the best hosts, from the professionalism and kindness to the incredibly comfy beds. Abi is very knowledgeable on the local Stroud area, whether you want to find antiques, art pieces, or wildlife. She can can recommend many places to explore. The Hidden House is simply a gorgeous property and a bonus for dog lovers, you get to spend time around a Bassett Hound during your stay!
Cosy cottage, located in the centre of Painswick. Perfect for relaxing indoors and for getting out and about exploring the village and surrounding areas.
A well equipped kitchen included complimentary bread, butter and eggs which was a nice touch.
Bedrooms very comfy and a good size.
Large bathroom with bath and separate
shower.
Overall..it's clean and nicely presented while being easy to make yourself at home and not feel like guests.
We really liked the apartment, it's very spacious, clean and well presented. Very quirky inside with lots of different levels and rooms, and the two full bathrooms (one with bath and one with shower) were very useful. The Old Fleece pub/restaurant next door, was fantastic. The food was wonderful and the staff so friendly. There are some lovely walks in the area.
The whole experience was well worth the expense after a year and a half of lockdown.
Staff extremely friendly, room or should I say suite was well worth the extra cost and the food was of excellent quality.
The outside eating and drinking area, with its own bar, was an excellent addition to the hotel.
Beautifully decorated and well equipped, comfortable and welcoming. Right in the centre of Painswick with a lovely view over the church/churchyard and Painswick Valley. Parking free and the Falcon were generous about being able to leave the car there after check out and before leaving Painswick.
Spacious two bedroom apartment with separate lounge area and well designed kitchenette. For the space, the accommodation represents reasonable value for money and it is dog friendly (but you will have to eat out for breakfast or pack food). Friendly staff and pretty good pub food downstairs
Very lovely & wholesome! Loved the style, the cottage feel, and everything about it. Staff was very polite and accommodating. Quick drive over to Stroud city center or Nailsworth. Nice local pubs and restaurants. Beautiful area and perfect for a weekend getaway, thank you!!!
Breakfast was excellent. First time I have ever had spinach with a full English. My daughter tells me this is typical Stroud breakfast.
Nice and clean and spacious. I felt like part of the decour as my T-shirt had the same promotion as one of the posters on the pub wall.
I went there for playing golf in Minchinhampton Golf Club. The location is perfect, not only for the golf but also for exploring the Cotswold Area. The bed is comfortable. I enjoy staying with the family of Emily, which made me feel at home.
Interior design , i might just take some ideas and do my bedroom in the same style , functionality , the place & design just works out , location wise , is right in the middle of Stroud , as well as in a quiet area.
Well sited for visit to Stroud. Lovely double room with access to well equipped bathroom. Kate, the host, was very welcoming and made extra efforts to meet our needs and make us feel comfortable.
Great location, apartments were nicely sized and clean. The host was very accommodating and spent lots of time helping to arrange our stay and also to give us tips on what to do in the area.
Great location just a few mins walk into Stroud, clean room and excellent host. Full English was really good. It’s a great place from which to explore Stroud.
