The hotel was decorated in a quriky but classical way and very nicely done without going over the top. Breakfast was excellent and overall was good value, its an excellent venue if you are visiting Blenheim Palace as it was 2 mins away.

The room was large with a sofa. Bed was large and very comfortable and warm. The bathroom had a shower in the bath with plenty of hot water.Shampoo and shower gel was provided,a nice touch.
The staff were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble . Breakfast was great and dinner was delicious.

The main living/sleeping area and bathroom were excellent, with lots of space and well appointed. The bed was extra big and was extremely comfortable. Off street parking was good. The annex was very conveniently situated in the village with Blenheim Palace within walking distance. Wi-fi good.

A pleasant market town with pretty buildings, a range of shops including antiques. art and interior designs, as well as a butchers, a co-op and several pubs, restaurants and cafes. There were also 2 small museums.
Blenheim Palace was only a 10 minute walk from Woodstock. We spent 2 days visiting the Palace and its grounds, and felt we could have spent longer.
There was a frequent bus service into Oxford. Buses ran every half hour from about 5.30am to 11.30pm, cost £2, and the journey took about 40 minutes. We spent 2 days visiting Oxford and felt we could have spent longer.
The only downside about Woodstock was car parking, which was restricted to pay and display between 8.00am and 6.00pm every day.
There was a free car park near the fire station which allowed upto 12 hours stay in any 24 hour period.
For longer stays, 24 hour car parking permits could be purchased from the Council for £10 per day.

Beautiful small town.
Beautiful small town. Plentiful accommodation and restaurants, most of which were dog friendly. Ideal for visiting beautiful Blenheim Palace and nearby Oxford. We ate at Punchbowl pub , good friendly service, very dog friendly, food and drink good. Would not stay at Macdonald Bear next time but probably at one of the many pubs that had rooms.

Our trip was fundamentally to view the lights and the house at Blenheim Palace; the theme was Sleeping Beauty.
We arrived at about 3pm. Just right as dusk was setting in. We toured the house which was utterly incredible - How a person or company could put together such a phenomental piece of design, unchanging in its beauty, throughout the rooms that had been decorated to continue the theme - I do not know. To continue outside and see the light display was nothing short of sensational - it lit up the whole of the 1.5 miles of the walking tour and the evening sky. An unforgettable experience. The next day we shopped through the village enjoying its ancient buildings and some of the shops filled with objects d`art , clothes, furniture and lighting. An experience that cannot be better but can be changed...........in summer.

Woodstock is a pretty medieval town with many eateries,...
Woodstock is a pretty medieval town with many eateries, interesting shops, a free museum, lots of walks and, of course, Blenheim Palace nestled next to it in all its splendour.
Apart from the main Street, there are many attractive side streets to explore.
The buildings are attractive, being made from the local stone which was also used to build Blenheim Palace. They appear to ‘glow’ in the sun.
location was perfect in the market square, 5 minute stroll to the Woodstock entrance to Blenheim Palace grounds, quaintly attractive hotel, restaurant and coffee shop with modern amenities. Check the website as the Buttery has complimentary offers and discounts with local restaurant. Comfortable nights sleep, breakfast choices to suit all appetites. Staff where very helpful and available for any queries, local information.
Beautiful rooms (we stayed in a king room). Can’t fault it, there was nothing missing I can think of. Very clean with all amenities you need and more! Lovely bathroom.
Fantastic, plentiful breakfast with quality produce - all enjoyed in a beautifully decorated breakfast room.
Lovely, polite & helpful staff.
Great location for Blenheim and Woodstock.
I have stayed there for my short gateway from London and to visit Blenheim Palace. Woodstock is a magical place . The hotel was very good, the staff welcoming supportive and warm. Room just as I like it - magnificent. Enjoyed 100% my stay my room and my visit. Would recommend and will come back for sure . Thank you once again
Warm, relaxed welcoming front of house management style. Original design and colour schemes of rooms is exceptional, as is the standard of cleaning. Great bar and restaurant areas in a lovely hotel in the centre of Woodstock.
Also huge thanks to Rich and Freya for items retrieved that we left in our room!
Location, location, location! Lovely to have been able to stay so centrally. House was comfortable and just right for a short stay in Woodstock with Blenheim park virtually on the doorstep (if you know where the town gate is!) and plenty of shops to poke around and superb restaurants and pubs.
Charming pub and inn, nestled next to the town center of Woodstock. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was cozy but not too small. The food was excellent as well, both dinner and breakfast. Had a few good chats with the guests and hosts.
Beautiful, warm and cosy hotel in the heart of Woodstock. Loved the Cotswalds interior decor and log fire in the reception/bar/lounge. Our rooms were very homely and comfortable with soft lighting and beautiful bedding and the room for 3 spacious.
From the friendly service we received on arrival, the beautiful rooms which exceeded our expectation for the price and the great value breakfast, I would highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a visit to Woodstock.
Perfectly situated in the centre of Woodstock but slightly tucked away giving a sense of personal charm.
