This was the most beautiful hotel we had on our 3 week trip to Iceland! It‘s freshly renovated, very high ceiling and the appliances are of decent quality (not only Ikea and if Ikea, then the better quality stuff).
Stykkisholmur is a very scenic little town, absolutely worth a visit.

The bedrooms were big and spacy.
Breakfast was not officialy included in the price, but it turned out that there was coffee/tea, milk, cereals and jam. You only needed to add bread yourself.
There was a refridgerator, dishes/cutleri and a table, where you could eat.
The owner was extremely kind and serviceminded.

Only a couple of hours from Reykjavik but this place feels very much away from it all. The roads in and out aren't the easiest depending on the weather. We visited in early April and got stuck in snow (twice!) on the way in taking the northern road then feared getting stuck due to road closures and difficult driving conditions on the way out but we made it. Because of this we didn't get to see as much as we'd have liked. But we did have excellent takeaway fish and chips from the harbour front at Hafnarvaginn

Small, quiet (at this time of year) but very peaceful and beautiful! We caught our best show of the northern lights here! Also, would highly recommend Narfreyrarstofa for dinner, delicious and great atmosphere!

I loved the small-town vibe and charming Icelandic architecture located on an active harbour. Beautiful ocean views from the harbour-adjacent island walk! Enjoyed soaking at the local pool/hot pots, and happy to have a bakery, grocery store, and restaurants to choose from for meals. I would gladly stay here again, or for more than one night to see some of the local museums which were closed over Easter weekend.

The staff was excellent and very accommodating. They knew the area well and could recommend meals and other services to us. We ate at a very nice fish restaurant where the one waitress ran the entire restaurant efficiently and in a timely fashion.Great food

Great location on north side of peninsula.
Great location on north side of peninsula. Wish we’d had more time to explore. Excellent northern lights viewing near the lighthouse. Go up the stairs toward the lighthouse and turn left to block harbor lights.

It is a nice little town by the sea.
It is a nice little town by the sea. There is a small hill by the harbor you can climb that offers beautiful views. There are also a few restaurants, cafes, shops and museums but it is also nice to just walk around.
the hotel rooms are very small but we did not expect it to be more than that. The place have dining room and kitchen downstairs which we used for family outstanding dinner! there is big supermarket nearby open from 1000-2000 and the kitchen is well equipped. (the only problem was that you need to wait for others to finish cooking or cook together. we used the washing machine as well for our laundry. the showers and toilet are public but quite clean and close to your rooms. in general, it was one of our best evenings in Iceland...!
Incredibly friendly staff, Gosha (the receptionist on our first day at the hotel) was so warm and welcoming in a sense that I have never experienced before. She really cared about our experience at the hotel and in general. She patiently answered questions regarding things to do around the Snaefellsnes peninsula and helped us plan our day. Property is clean, quiet, cosy. There is tea, coffee and biscuits available for guests in the main area. Very comfortable beds
Very nice cottage, perfect for a couple or two friends. There are two other cottages if your group is larger. They have a top notch welcoming committee in the form of a friendly Icelandic sheepdog named Moli. He was absolutely adorable and just as good natured. The property is on the Helgafell Farm and near the holy site, Helgafell Mountain. The cottages are equipped with dishes and every thing you may need for a longer stay.
The whole guesthouse was extremly clean: The room itself, the bath and even the breakfast room! The guesthouse is located in the city centre - you can easily walk to restaurants & the lighthouse. The breakfast was very good with bread, yoghurt, fruits and more (very good price). The owner was very nice and event sent us our phone charger (that we had forgotten in our room) to our next hotel! Modern and huge bathroom!
From arrival at Stundarfriður until the time of leaving we were very happy with the whole stay at the hotel. The rooms were clean and nicely set up and managed. Breakfast was very good and staff were great. Since we brought out dog with us she was accepted and treated very well and was permitted to run free around the property as well as the surrounding area.
Because I inadvertently booked a single room, rather than a double, we were not able to stay there, and the hotel was fully booked. (The single room was even too small for a cot!) The host went to great lengths to find us another accommodation - it was a national holiday so this was no simple task.
This is, without doubt, one of the best stays I`ve had in Iceland. The host was very kind and helpful. Cottages and hotel rooms were very clean. They provide all the kitchen appliances you need. Great location, I would definitely spent more days there if I had time.
This was one of the nicest places we stayed during our 12-day trip in June, 2022. I would say this was more of a business class of hotel with everything being very nice. The restaurant had a great view. The room was very big compared to other places we stayed.
Very friendly atmosphere. Cozy hotel out in the wildernes of Iceland. Away from all light pollution and a perfect place to catch the northern lights. Excellent location after a great day of tour de Snæfellsnes.
The staff we delightful and very helpful.. It was our first day in Iceland and they helped us to get oriented.. They also steered us towards a great restaurant for dinner. Highly recommend this Hotel.
After 5 days traveling the country and staying in Airbnbs it was very nice to stay in a hotel. Most water in Iceland has an odor to it, there was none at this hotel and it was greatly appreciated.
