Charming small town, slightly off the tourist beaten track, this isn’t a bad thing! Plenty of temples to visit. Relatively easy to walk to all the main sights. People are very friendly. You don’t need more than 2 days here. We took the train from Bangkok and arrived around 3pm. Checked into our hotel and hung out. Then the next day we did a full day tour which our host set up for us and then we left the following day. I take photographs of wildlife, monkeys and monks, temples and people. So Phetchaburi kept me occupied for 16 days - I can't understand why so few people get off the train. It is just the right size to walk around, although Thanyachatra is just off a busy road that is not very easy to cross (but no traffic nose at the hotel). The locals are wonderful and once they had got used to seeing me around, I found that those who spoke English were keen to chat and helpful. The town is full of wonderful schools and happy, smiling and beautifully turned out children and teenagers.ChrisFrance

Brand new and with a wonderful architecture, every detail is thought of, both in the rooms, the common areas and not at least outside. There are many food and drink stalls 2 minutes walk away on the main road, as well as 7/11 and ATMs. The area feels very safe and friendly, and it is wonderfully quiet at night. The manager is caring and speaks good English. Overall it's great value for money.

This is Best Hostel to stay in, the hosts are very very helpful, recommending places to eat or to go explore. It's also near Phranakhonkhiri which is the most amazing park I've ever seen and Wat Mahatat, which is the most beautiful temple in the whole Thailand.DarlyngPeru
