Best advice is to book tickets for anyplace you might need tickets before you go. Most are refundable up to 24 hrs before admission. We did not anticipate the early April crowds and were locked out of some major sights. This is an easy walking city but has public transportation if wanted.
We appreciated the hop-on hop-off busses for a look at parts of the city we would not have had time to explore. Excellent food at reasonable prices almost everywhere!

An amazing city . My and my daughter's 2nd visit.
An amazing city . My and my daughter's 2nd visit. My son's 1st visit. We could have stayed longer but managed to cram lots in. Entrance to many cultural attractions seemed extremely expensive to me as compared to before.
I spent a lot on accommodation but in retrospect I would opt for a place further out and cheaper as the metro system is good and even if you are centrally located as we were you will still need to use the metro anyway.

Barcelona was one big disappointment.
Barcelona was one big disappointment. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the city, its public transport and urban solutions - the city center is green, bicycle lanes are well made, separated from cars and pedestrians and well maintained, designated parking spots are well marked and all vehicles (including motorbikes) are well organised. If you think that usually a city center has very tight streets and naturally it's difficult to organise them, in Barcelona they made it work somehow - cars, bicycles, pedestrians, gastronomy facilities with their tables, even large trash bins for recyclables - each has their designated space and that's really something.
When it comes to the typical tourist stuff, I think Barcelona is overrated. Sagrada Familia for example is ok if you didn't see any unusual church in the past but not really a wow. Park Guell, Palau de la musica and the Sant Pau hospital are just tourist traps, absolutely not worth spending your time and money. If you're in that neighbourhood, go and see it from the outside. You'll thank me later :D
If you're into hiking, go and see both Montserrat and Tibidabo for their amazing views and surely combine them with a nice hike.
And of course visit one of the markets (for example the one by La Rambla) where they serve fresh oysters and other seafood. If you're not so into it, you'll get converted there :D

Hard not to love the food, culture, and history of Barcelona, Catalonia but many, many lodging options so be careful what you choose. Check with family or friends who've been for true opinions and experiences.
Great Public Transportation, Cabs plenty and affordable, amazing Tapa's everywhere, Gaudi, Picasso, and Dali. So much to see and do, we will return soon to do the things we missed.

Beautiful city with lots of attractions to visit (Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila, Casa Batlo, Park Guel are all worth of money and visiting), excellent restaurants (Else y Fred tapas restaurant was excellent including good service, food and atmosphere) and entertainment choice (La Macarena club with undeground dance music). Excellent beaches in the city center are worth of visiting.
Stayed in Barcelona during Sant Jordi day (23/4), which is very nice and romantic tradition with roses given to women and books to men, city was full of flowers and pop up book stands. However due to this day many of the streets in city center were closed and the traffic was very heavy - it took 1,5 hour to drive 8 km in taxi due to traffic jam.
It is difficult to get taxi when there are major fairs in the city - therefore it is neceassary to plan travel ahead, but the best is to avoid periods when there is lot of business travelers.
The weather turned out to be quite chilly last week of April, so remember to take some warm clothes.
It was way to get to main touristic places within 20 minute walk. We liked the airy, large rooms. The shower was great. Lots of complimentary stuff, although only one per person; e.g. one toothbrush was available for a room of two. Staff were so friendly and helpful both at the reception desk and at the restaurant. Breakfast was fantastic, a very large choice and the food was very good quality. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant on the last evening and it was one of the best we had during our stay in Barcelona. It was also the cheapest.
We booked this place last minute as our flight home was cancelled and we had a horrible experience the night before relying on the airline to book hotels. So we decided to go into Barcelona and book a last minute deal ourselves. We got an AMAZING deal in the suite on the top floor with a private roof top patio. Room was very cool. A more masculine/dark feel to it which was fine for us (two men) the patio was huge on the roof top. Over all couldn't have asked for a better spot for our bonus two nights in Spain.
- we've been traveling to Spain / Barcelona for 7 years and saw many hotels and apartments. This one was the best.
- we live in apartments with 1 hall and 1 bedroom, it was quite spacious for the family with 2 kids.
- breakfast was great and placed in the 19th (or may be 18th) century designed hall in the main building.
- apartments have a great location - close to Goethic quarter and the harbor
- its was a bit expensive but I'm sure only due to high demand (July)
Everything about our stay was perfect. The hotel is located in the Gracia barrio, a 5 min walk from the metro station Fontana and a 30 min walk from the city center. It's very peaceful and quiet so ideal for rest after exploring beautiful Barcelona. The staff very friendly and helpful. Spacious room with a beautiful balcony, cleaned every day. Would very much recomend it for your stay in Barcelona
This is really a nice and clean hotel with big rooms and good service. The rooms look quite modern (for Spain, so don't expect USB power outlets and such). The neighborhood is quiet, however there's a big shopping center called Diagonal Mar in very close proximity. The breakfast is not too fancy but does include hot food and everything is fresh and tasty.
Amazing location, nice view out the window. Front desk was very professional and helpful. Coffee and breakfast were amazing and the best we had between travel to both France and Spain. Hotel rooftop bar was also great...what a view! And there were actually enough available tables to accommodate lots of people. Easy to get to metro stops from here too.
The hotel is located PERFECTLY at Plaza Catalunya. For anybody arriving in Barcelona by plane is good to know that there is practically taxi-service with the "aero bus" connecting the airport and the square in 30 minutes. Apart from that metro station is infront, but this might be not necessary as you live in the centre of the city centre!
Simply wonderful!!! The staff are outstanding, the breakfast was lovely, room was impeccably clean and very quiet. Hotel is right in the city center. My room was tiny BUT The pictures accurately reflected this and I was going at a busy time and was happy to get any room. I will happily stay here again the next time I'm in Barcelona.
Nicely furnished modern hotel in a new district of Barcelona. The area is really quiet and offers a nice escape from the bussy city center and there is a huge new mall 10min walking away where you can find anything and to the beach is 20min walk. Staff was really friendly and we had a great time in the family suite which is huge.
We used this hotel as a jump off to the airport on our last night in Barcelona. This is very good hotel located around a lot of activities and easy access to tapa's bars we like. The room was large and accommodations were very good and on par with other 4 star hotels we stayed in. Staff was friendly and helpful. No issues.
Jan and David are AMAZING 😍 they were very supportive to me and guided me a lot.. the location is WONDERFUL really it’s in the center and easy going to anywhere and the airport bus is 3 mins walking distance from the hotel as well the Toursim bus .. very highly recommended if you need a place in the center of Barcelona
The hotel is in one of the best places. There is a big shopping center just on the corner. Lots of small coffees and bars nearby. Even small night shops which you can take. Not so far from the main city center. The hotel itself is luxurious.
Lovely hotel situated in heart of Barcelona. Rooms furnished appropriately to the age of the hotel. Especially liked how I could choose what type of breakfast I wanted and pay the appropriate price, indeed best breakfast I had in Spain.
Great location. No need to stay in the center of Barcelona to enjoy the city properly. Poblenou is a great neighbourhood full of cultural life and great food. The hotel has super confortable rooms, and an amazing rooftop swimming pool.
The staff were very kind and helpful and gave a lot of attention and information I asked for, hotel very clean and breakfast excellent. Rate is good compared to other hotels in Barcelona. Transportation to city center are reachable
Very nice new hotel in great are in Barcelona, not far away from city center, very close to beach and surrounded by several great places for food and drinks. Metro close by a garage parking! I have enjoyed my stay here.
Clean rooms. A little too far out from Barcelona city center for the full weekend experience, the area itself does not have so much to offer. However easy to get into city center with the tram line close to the hotel.
Excelente!!
Its an excellent hotel, staff and the best location. Close to everything. Great AC and comfortable bed.
we are extremely satisfied. Barcelona is a beautiful city.
