I had an overnight connection and required a hotel with a shuttle service. We were able to have dinner and some drinks at The Hotel Mardrit, inside the restaurant and bar downstairs and it was lovely. We would love to come back to really explore Madrid.

Nice couple of days to see the sights with our Niece who speaks Spanish so very helpful. There are a few sights, mainly within walking distance of the centre, many galleries, loads of restaurants and plenty of shopping. It's a bit touristy but it is a European Capital. We joined one of the 'free' tours which worked well to get some background. We didn't pre-book for anything and were lucky with queues, at on time we went past the Prada and the line for tickets was 300m, I think as at times it is free entry. The queue is mainly caused by security, not ticket sales. Get out of the town centre for Tapas, we took a recommendation and went to a location, La pequena grana in a residential side street, packed out, no other tourists and still they made us welcome, found us seats and served us really well. Use Uber for travelling, well represented ,average wait 4 minutes.

We had two weekends around a work week event.
We had two weekends around a work week event.
Central City was certainly lively with lots of people around the streets and plaza. Very easy to walk around the old town. The walking tours were a great way to get some history and culture understandings.
Most people/places were able to communicate without us knowing much Spanish (but it is always good to get a few basic words under your belt). Most signs and menus had English versions. But best to get a local SIM (but not from the airport) to allow you to Google Translate the odd sign or detail. I booked an eSim before arriving and the speed for data wasn't as good as a real SIM purchased once we got into the city.
Plenty of palaces, art galleries and museums to keep you busy.
Food and restaurant are everywhere (in central town).
We didn't use the bus or train, but Uber and Taxis were everywhere.
Bring good walking shoes as were is lots of places to walk to.
Loved my stay ! This is a great hotel - family owned and operated with impeccable value for money. Location is right next to the airport and the trade show area whilst being in a residential, everyday neighbourhood filled with affordable stores, supermarkets and other convenient services. Hotel is spotless and very comfortable. Great bed, great shower with good water pressure ( important !). Breakfast is fine with a very good coffee machine . Service is the best I've had in Spain to date : friendly at all times, fast and really helpful.
Hostal Met Madrid has a great location in between the Plaza Major, the Mercado San Miguel and the Ooera/Teatro Real. Most main tourist destinations in the city centre are in east walking distance. The hotel itself comprises the second floor of a large old apartment building. Rooms are a good size with en-suite bathrooms, fridge and mini-safe. We were also treated to some cava left in our room. Rooms were clean and having air conditioning really helped for a July visit. The price was good for the facilities and location.
One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Clean, beautiful, amazing facilities. Location is good, is in the financial center, close to airport and city center. We arrived in terminal 1, we took bus 200 to get to the hotel. Public transport in Madrid by default costs 1.5 EUR(and you can pay cash inside the bus). In order to get to the center we got the bus 53 infront of Cuco’s restaurant which is super close to the hotel and it was super easy to travel around. Highly recommended. Loved it?
ARTIEM Madrid was perfect for our weekend break. the hotel was modern, clean and it catered to all our needs. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, and the free drinks and lunch fridge was a great bonus. Our room was spacious, well-kept and comfortable.
The hotel is situated half way between the airport and the city centre, but easily accessible by bus and metro. It was incredible value for money. We would stay here again if we were to return to Madrid.
one : location, location, location - it was walking distance to gran via, mercado de san miguel, calle arenal, san gines churros etc . nice place to be booked after seeing madrid's tourist sites
two : moises at reception was one of the best receptionists we've ever encountered in all our hotel stays ever. even when he had to attend to so many of us, he remained efficient AND cool!
three : breakfast options were aplenty and really tasty!
This is the best choice for a Barajas Layover hotel , as I've tried several. The metro station is a 4 minute walk and metro goes.direct tonthe airport ( 1 stop) or back into cemtral Madrid.
Tere is a plethora of excellent restaurants just outside the door, and the Barrajas Historico Centro isn5 mins. My room had a balcony with a view of the airport takeoffs & landings.🛩
Not to mention updated comfy room.
Very near shops, restaurants, etc. Many landmarks are walkable from the hotel. Rooms and toilets were clean and beds comfortable. I’m glad that we included daily breakfasts in our booking since things start a little later here in Spain. Breakfast was ample. Staff were kind and helpful. Hotel is eco-friendly. Taxi service from and to the airport is easy to get and rate is fixed.
This was our last night in Spain so we splurged for the Presidential Suite! It was amazing! Thank you for all the "bells and whistles". Outdoor bathtub that we did use in the middle of January! And a beautiful second balcony with a great view of the Royal Palace and Parks. All I can say is WOW! Rooftop bar is the best in Madrid! Thank you for an incredible stay!
The hotel is very well located in the centre of Madrid, with a good metro connection to the airport. Gran Via and Moncloa within walking distance from the hotel, nice places to eat around. The host is friendly. No problem with noise from the street (we had a room in the back). The bathroom was clean. The room was small, but ok. A good option for this price.
Fantastic, American-style hotel located just a few minutes (by car) from Barajas Airport. Short walk from a subway station (Barajas) and from a gasoline station. Inside beautiful decor, huge comfortable rooms and one the best breakfast buffets in Spain. Easy on-site parking, windows open for air. Great price.
Very good room, tastefully decorated. Also lovely and quiet at night, despite being in the city centre.
Staff were particularly welcoming and very helpful at all times. Good breakfast.
Location of the hotel is absolutely perfect for a stay in Madrid, close to everywhere we wanted to go!!
very good breakfast, related to 4 other hotels I took in Spain, this hotel offered one of the best breakfasts,
location is excellent, very close to all Madrid monuments... 10-15 minutes walk.
also close to metro station, where u can take a metro to Santiago Bernabeu.
The staff are very friendly and professional. The location of the hotel is ideal.r
Right beside the Royal Palace and the city centre.overall a very good experience. When I do visit Madrid again I will definitely will stay there.
Good hotel, in the centre of Madrid, easy to find. 5 min walk from Ciebeles airport bus stop, and outside is the entrance to Gran Via metro. Rooms are ok, clean and tidy.
The variety of food provided in the continental buffet.
The location of the hotel is excellent in Madrid city centre.
The room was spotless and the Wi-Fi was excellent.
Best location and lodging in all of Spain.
Full time staff in the lobby to answer all your questions ( in perfect English).
