Girl at check in desk was so helpful, friendly & efficient & we were upgraded to a Junior Suite free of charge.
Room so big, clean and comfortable bed. Shower etc were so good. Breakfast was exceptional - such a variety of hot and cold food. We didn't have an evening meal as we had plans, but the menu looked very good and good value. We travelled by train so we could leave our luggage in the hotel for the day without any fuss!

We received unrequested help with our bags both up and down the steep flights of stairs which was a huge relief. Enjoyed our pints in the pub served by Joseph. Also a great late-night food recommendation. 😋 Street parking out front was appreciated.

We loved the Church of St.
We loved the Church of St. Peter and Paul - they feature vivid and colourful stained glass windows made by Harry Clarke. We were in there for way longer than we anticipated, the art was so detailed and interesting. We found handy parking round the back of the castle, but it was February and was quiet so no problems there.

Front desk customer service was absolutely brilliant.
Front desk customer service was absolutely brilliant. THANKS to Eric the man is a legend. Good staff everywhere. Room was little hot but that was the weather we were having. ROOM was excellent Breakfast and a swim in the pool to it off .Thank-you one and all
The location and privacy of the room was more than adequate for the time that I had spent in the room. The location was similar to where I had stayed in the last time that I had been in Athlone, and is very central to the town. While my standards for walkability are wildly different than most people's (I wouldn't decline a walking trip to Roscommon, for example), I felt like the town as a whole had a very accessible vibe and the location of this hotel was very conducive to that ideal.
This is my 2nd time to stay here, and I always enjoy staying here. There are always plenty of spaces in the car park upon arrival. The checking in process is simple. The rooms are very spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The large TV in each room also has loads of TV channels to view. The staff are very polite and courteous, and it definitely beats other 5 star hotels that I have stayed in. I will always stay here, whenever I am in Athlone.
The location is excellent for water sports and relaxation. About 7 minutes from Athlone Town and lots of parking available. The staff although very young, strive to make you feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for any of them they are the hotels biggest asset.
So clean and quiet. Stayed for a wedding in Athlone. Taxi was about 14euro each way and we had no problems getting one in and out.
Comfy rooms with bice spacious ensuites. Grounds are fantastic. Exceptional value for money compared to the hotels in the town 10/10
It really exceeded my expectations! Beautiful interrior and there was everything you would need in the apartment. It is also close to the town centre which is great. Highly recommend this place! Mich better than any overpriced hotel
Perfect location for an overnight stay in Athlone. Clean rooms, cosey bed (minus the pillows which were a bit too hard) and lovely staff. Cheap and cheerful breakfast although just lacking the essentials for a continental buffet.
The bar was old-fashioned and adorable. Prices were great. Staff very attentive. The rooms were cozy but more like home than a hotel. The best part was Teresa who runs the place and provides a nice breakfast.
A very lovely hotel, kind staff. Rooms are very spacious, clean. The bistro has excellent food. Location is nice and calm, definitely recommend going to the Corlea trackway. Big free car park available.
A really nice breakfast and very friendly staff. Athlone is just a great place to visit and the Sheraton make it feel even better. Highly recommend the hotel and the location in general.
This is about our fifth time staying here, again the location is absolutely amazing close everything, staff are amazing couldn’t be happier with this hotel, recommend this place to 100%
Location is great. Very much a relaxing feeling attached to the experience of staying in the Hodson Bay hotel.
Staff really friendly. All the facilities one needs on site.
Always our go to when staying in athlone. The staff are lovely, food is good - hotel is right in the town so walking distance to everyrhing and the rooms are comfy.
