The hot pools were lovely. The lounge with the fireplaces going was a great spot to hang out before or after dinner. My room the Duchess Suite was large and good for a longer stay. The cleaning staff were very friendly - as was the woman who served or who was the duty manager in the restaurant. I think her name was Cindy. Prince's Gate Hotel should swap the staff around so she is in the reception area or managing from reception as she was friendly, helpful and awesome.

A Volcanic Land of Wonders
Rotorua is living proof of the magnificent, and sometimes mind-boggling, might of nature. Smoking hot springs, bubbling mud pools and fast-spouting geysers give the surrounding landscape an almost other-worldly feel.
This New Zealand city sits in the Waimangu Volcanic Valley, the world’s newest geothermal hotspot. It was created after the 1886 eruption that covered Te Wairoa Buried Village, between 2 of many lakes gracing this fertile terrain. By Lake Rotorua’s shores is the luxurious Polynesian Spa with its thermal pools. Just behind in Government Gardens are the city’s best cultural offerings: the Arts Village, Tamaki Maori Village and Rotorua Museum, in an elegant former bath house.
Native animals roam in Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park below Mount Ngongotaha, accessible via the Skyline cable car. The views while ascending make it obvious why this is called the Bay of Plenty. Tikitere Thermal Park on the opposite side of the lake is known as Hell’s Gate, but as long as you can ignore the sulphuric smell, the spas are simply heavenly.
More springs are in Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, whose surrounding forest is popular for mountain biking, and Wai-O-Tapu where the Champagne Pool is a striking mix of green and orange.
Booking.com’s accommodation range is as diverse as the scenery, encompassing luxury hotels, cheap hostels and motels near Rotorua Airport.
So much to do! It's become the Queenstown of the north island - lots of adventure activities. We did spend a fair bit of money, but we also had a great time, they just need some more good quality restaurants, and better coffee in the township - the best we found was out in the suburbs.
I loved our time there, especially the mountain biking - so fun. People were all friendly and helpful too. Def a gret place to visit, esp if you have tweens / bigger kids.

Rotorua was a great place to visit.
Rotorua was a great place to visit. Mitai Village, Hot beach, waimangu volcano were all interesting places to visit. If you like to hike, the 9 mile hike to hot beach and the hiking trails in the Mokaihaha Ecological area are both great hikes .
Just don't stay at AWA hotel.

As we were only doing a two day stop over to catch up with family and friends, on our way to a wedding, it was just enough to get us time to do these visits and still have time for ourselves. As were not "exploring Rotorua" we did not need extra time. Would recommend at least 4 - 5 days if you are new to the place and want to do all those sights, that Rotorua has to offer.

Rotorua is a nice clean town with plenty of general shopping available. I felt that the tourist attraction were overpriced, but everything was well organized. The vulcanic activities are quite varied and unique.

The accommodation ideal for 3 adults with separate bedrooms: 1 with a double and a single bed - the other with a double bed, extremely comfortable. staff welcoming, 3 tv's. Room service breakfast which we liked and a the restaurant had a good evening menu selection. we had a jacuzzi and use of the spa bath and whilst the swimming pool was a bit limited for size and depth it was very relaxing. the Pitch and putt was fun and the games room ample size, cooling / relaxing 10 minute walk around the stream was refreshing. the staff are brilliant and i could not fault them - well done

I just enjoyed the town and the attractions I came to see.
I just enjoyed the town and the attractions I came to see. The townspeople were friendly, as were shop assistants. The people who were employed at the attractions went above and beyond to entertain us, educate us, teach us of their culture. They were all very proud of their heredity.
Thoroughly enjoyable 😉
Great stay! The reception/manager was lovely and provided me with an extra heater (I am a cold person) and remembered my name each time we saw each other! I was upgraded to a bigger room on arrival. I was able to park my hire car outside my window which was great. You can get change from reception for the laundry facilities. Everything in Rotorua was about a 6 to 10 minute drive from the motel, so it was a great location! I was able to walk to my car hire place (RAD Care Hire 10 - 15 minutes).
The breakfast was amazing, and my sisters and I treated ourselves to high tea, which was a wonderful selection of sandwiches, scones, and desserts. You can't beat the location - we picked it due to the hotel's proximity to the i-SITE where we were meeting a tour one of the evenings, and we quickly discovered we were just a short walk across the park from the Museum and the Rotorua Caldera.
This was a last minute decision to come here Christmas eve and escape the usual time spent with the family outside our little family but it was the best decision! Amazing staff, who were so friendly. Perfect hotel for a family stay. Buffet was delicious, games room was epic and the pools were fantastic. Would come here again next Christmas. Parking also very easy.
Nice clean spacious room. We booked this room specifically for the balcony which a lot of other Hotels do not have in Rotorua. The Spa was great and cleaned after every use.Great location within walking distance to a lot of great cafe's and restaurants. Lots of parking outside with a long stay carpark a couple of minutes away.
-Very family orientated
-staff always on hand and ready to be of service
-Had lots of useful information regarding nearby activities and things open on Christmas Day in the area
-Had all the necessary facilities that on a rainy day it was perfectly fine to stay at the hotel with children
The staff are amazing. The property is getting a bit tired. They charge the appropriate rate so did not expect a 5 star hotel. But the lovey staff made it a great stay.
If you want a nice clean hotel with warm and welcoming staff then the best place to stay in Rotorua is the Copthorne.
Fantastic stop especially if you've been in hotels a lot or a small group/family. We enjoyed using the facilities and was nice to be able to cook a meal. If you have a small family I imagine this being a great wee getaway
Hideaway is a fabulous place - great modern facilities and a lovely relaxed feel. This is my second stay and I will stay again. Rotorua motels/hotels are a bit hit and miss these days. This is a good one!
Rooms were spacious, clean, and well appointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful, there was a lovely wooded walking path near the hotel, and the pool and spa were clean and comfortably warm.
Great for a small family getaway. Close to the Redwoods and shopping areas. Only 10 min drive to central Rotorua. Great, helpful service from the property manager. Would rent again!
The hotel had everything we asked for. It was comfortable and close enough to the city centre and fun activities we planned for our family.
The hot tub was amazing at night 😊
All of my family enjoyed our stay at the Rotorua Novotel, was close to the lake, park for the kids and all the food shops just across the street was great thank yous. ☺️
Excellent facilities, pool was well maintained and open long hours. Best hotel pool in Rotorua.
Buffet breakfast was ok
Lots of seating space around the bar.
Location was excellent. Hotel has a lovely small pool and a wonderful hot tub for private use. The manager was very kind and gave excellent customer service.
Good wifi included. The room and beds were comfortable.
The hotel was a comfortable walk to several restaurants. An easy find and on a nice quiet street.
