This is a comfortable hotel with larger than normal rooms, good beds and pillows, amazing staff, and a bath tub you can actually extend your legs in. A big thank you to May at the front desk, who was wonderfully helpful with finding us everything we needed during our stay. Her warmth and good humor made us feel at home. The location is an easy walk from Hakata Station on smooth (luggage wheel friendly) streets and a couple blocks from great coffee. Oh, and the selection of art books in the lobby are a great way to spend a some time waiting for taxis, spouses and or children.

Fukuoka is a pleasant surprise, with lots of attractions and great dining within the city.A balanced mix of cultural and modern destinations . The city had a number of temples , museums, beautiful parks while boasting of modern attractions like the canal city fountain show , the E-Zo team lab, the Fukuoka tower viewing deck and seasonal display on its building facade, and the largest moving Gundam in Lalaport. Many shopping places too. Food choices are plentiful, from hakata ramen and traditional Japanese cuisine to international options like Italian, Mexican , American . Lastly, the many varieties of cherry blossoms and tulips in Ohori and maizuru parks made our visit even more memorable.

Nice city.
Nice city. I'm a bit surprise that it's not overcrowded like another big cities in Japan that I've been to. Might not be the best place for shopping but it's about right to me. It's more local Japan to me. I see very few English signs. There are some nice attractions but I wouldn't plan a week long trip with just Fukuoka. There are other cities and attractions in Kyushu that should also be in the plan. You don't really need a car in Fukuoka. It's well covered by public transport but for Kyushu in general it'll help considerably if you like to drive though.
If I'd plan again, I wouldn't drive the whole trip outside Fukuoka. I rather drive in some areas and travel between big cities with train. It make more sense and can cover more areas and attractions.

Loved Fukuoka, it's an underrated city. As long as you're not looking for a city like Kyoto with lots of traditional Japan, you'll find it to be a lively city with lots to do! The yatai's are a great way to experience food in Fukuoka!

It's not as busy as Tokyo or Osaka but is not lacking in places of interest and dining options. It's very easy to get around just as in other cities in Japan. The underground stations in Gion and Tenjin were a sight in itself. The interiors are not like typical train stations. There were intricately designed iron grills in the ceiling and there were lots of merchandise and food to check out.
It was fun dining at a yatai stall. The owners were very friendly and one of them patiently explained to us the menu that did not have any English translation. The food was fresh and really tasty.
One diner at the yatai stall who is a local suggested a good ramen place. It's Ganso Akanoren Setchan Ramen in Tenjin. She said Ichiran is expensive and "locals do not go there". There was a short queue when we got there around 11:30am the next day. We just waited for about 10 minutes to get a table. We were not disappointed with the food at all; taste and price wise. When we left at 12:30pm, there were about 20 people in line.
It was unfortunate that the Fukuoka Castle Ruins was closed for some work to prepare the place for the Sakura Festival later this month so we did not see it. We visited the Kusida Shrine, Team Lab Forest, Sanrio Characters Dreaming attraction, Ohori Park, Canal City. We went on a day trip to Hiroshima to learn more about history and we came out more educated.
We liked many aspects of GRAND BASE Haruyoshi. The room was spacious, much more than usual for Japanese hotels, particularly at this price point. We also appreciated the living room, kitchen, cooking utensils, and laundry machine. The ample electricity outlets were a great convenience. The hotel's location was a major highlight - it's ideally positioned in the city center, a short 15-minute walk to Hakata station, and just a 5-minute walk to Canal City, with a plethora of restaurants and convenience stores nearby.
I liked that the location of the hotel was not too near the busy and noisy area and yet it was near enough to Hakata Bus Station and Hakata Train Station. The breakfast was a simple selection but included the local speciality of Karashi Renkon. I enjoyed the Kyoho Grape cheesecake too! The staff were very helpful with ensuring that I could get a cab to the airport even though it was the day after a public holiday. The massage chair in the room was a lovely addition after all the walking on my trip too. Thank you!
Great location (flat 10min walk from Hakata Station). Location is also close to Canal City, stores and restaurants. There are many people who stay in this hotel so it can feel quite busy but also lively.
My room was a bit small but very modern, comfortable beds with intuitively placed charging ports and lights. Bathroom is clean and modern. There is also a small public bath in the hotel to relax in after a long day, and free icy poles for a treat after.
Overall, one of my favourite stays in Japan so far.
Great hotel. In a quiet part of Fukuoka, far from busy street car traffic but lots of folks walking on the street. Fantastic restaurants right out the door. Rooms were of adequate size, nice bathrooms with showers and a bath. Everything is very "hip", so mostly a younger crowd. Mostly Japanese and other Asians staying there but a number of caucasian tourists from various parts. Very nice staff, especially one young lad name Tetsujippo who went out of his way to help us with visiting key shrines.
I stayed at this hotel 2nd time after 1st check-in. Big tidy neat and clean room and toilet. Moreover, it's very convenient staying there: Not More than 5 minutes by walk from Hakata Station, the hotel kept my luggages for my next check-in. Lastly, I request the hotel to call a taxi to the airport on Sunday early morning, one reception slightly old man tried his best to call a taxi even there's no taxi at that moment. In Summary, I'm very pleasant to stay there.
I find all APA hotels to be great value, no matter what city. It is a very quick walk to Hakata/ shinkansen and bus stations, many local food options too. Staff friendly and efficient.
All hotel rooms are small in Japan, and these are well laid out with luggage storage under the bed, hooks on the wall etc.
Just don't take too many bags/large suitacse and you should be fine.
Very conveniently located, just a few minutes walk from Hakata station, which is a stop on the shinkansen and can also be very easily reached from the airport. Hotel is very clean and fairly new, and it was quiet. Although breakfast is a set meal and not a buffet at the moment due to the pandemic, the selection and quality was nice, including some local Fukuoka specialties.
The location, bed quality, quiet and breakfast were fabulous for the price. We have stayed at 3 other hotels near Hakata Station a total of 12 times and Hakata Comfort hotel was really great for the low price. Perfect for our first night arriving in Fukuoka. Everything about this hotel was easy and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again!
Great location near the subway. Fantastic bar down stairs, breakfast was included for guests, staff were genuinely helpful and did their best to assist me with my enquiries.
Also loved the artwork throughout the hotel and music downstairs in the lobby
I would happily recommend the Lively and will stay there again if I visit Fukuoka in future.
Location is at Chikushi exit which is behind JR hakata city. This hotel is the cheapest in Hakata station area. Its about 7min walk to the hotel. Though staff speak little English, no issue when using google translation to communicate with them. Toiletaries including face wash. location and coffee are provided FOC at the lobby area
Looks like an ordinary Japanese Appartement. Don’t forget to turn on the hot water machine. The room itself is exactly the same as the pictures. The location is super good! It’s only 5 minutes walk to the Fukuoka domestic airport, car rental area and subway. And the blanket itself was very thick and comfortable.
I like that it is spacious enough compare to typical hotels in Japan. Kitchenette and laundry facilities are good. I love the separate toilet and bathroom as well. Location is good just a few meters away from Hakata Station. There is a nearby park, a 24H supermarket, convenience stores.
One of the best hotels we stayed at during trip to Japan. It was clean, rooms were spacious, seperate toilet and bathroom. The bar was great to rest and relax. The team were very professional and so helpful. And conveniently located opposite the Hakata train station.
best hotel in Fukuoka! really affordable and always clean. staff is always soo nice and they speak English. 100% recommend. Walking distance to a lot of food areas plus there is a Pokémon center in the station (for the Pokémon fans!)
This hotel was a great find! Excellent location to the train station and a short trip to the airport. Room was lovely and the breakfast exceeded expectations. Staff were very helpful and the hotel was so clean.
This is the hotel we like the best in Fukuoka. The location is good, very near Tenjin area and river, and the staff are very nice to help. The breakfasts, both Japanese and western, are good.
Its conveniently located near Hakata station, so good if you dont have much time in Fukuoka.
The rooms are nice and clean, classic hotel rooms. The coffee machine in the lobby is a big plus!
Very friendly staff, beautiful art work all over the hotel, fancy bar and comfortable co-working space. Location at the heart of Fukuoka city was amazing!!
