The staff was lovely and helpful and there’s an area where you can get a cup of tea, water etc
The room was comfortable and also had a basin and toilet. Just the bath tub is shared, you’re supposed to use the onsen. They provide a yukata and slippers too.
Location is good for the places of interest, but it’s far from the station when you have to push a heavy luggage and walk among the hundreds of tourists.
All in all though, much better than what I thought it would be!

The food was absolutely great, especially the breakfast. The host served us authentic japanese breakfast with mackerel and miso soup, and we appreciated the rice so much! The room was also spacious for a family to live in, with a private onsen in the room.

The hotel and room have a great view of Yufin and the surrounding mountains. The two public onsens were perfect, very nice. Breakfast was exceptional served in the living/dining room. It was within walking distance to the centre and some restaurants, but better have a car to stay there.

Excellent location.
Excellent location. Not far from Fukuoka and we drive all the way from the airport within 2 hours. Best retreat so far and we will definitely go back in different seasons. Driving to places are simple and easy. Can go to mountain hike or the lake areas.

A very lovely town.
A very lovely town.
But too many tourists during the weekend.
Too many Korean tourists, which quite some of them are lack of manners, speaking too too loudly, taking pictures everywhere, dominating the roads while walking with groups...

Yufu is one of those places where the place itself is wonderful but the vibe from other tourists and angry, upset staff members in shops can really darken an otherwise bright experience. It reminded me a lot of Kyoto in that way. The place, the shops, the scenery are all great... but tourists tend to be pushy, demanding, selfish, etc. And this leads many of the staff of establishments to be cold, distant, or upset; and rightfully so. I would like to go back there and spend more time at one of the inns. The staff there are usually very kind and helpful, and the spaces are very comfortable. But the place itself I could take a pass on.

We stay in Yufuin for 2 days, but travel 1 day to Beppu and the other in Yufuin. Yufuin is an absolutely lovely place. Every thing is so cute! And a lot of street food along the way.
The best thing is Onsen Ryokan! Don't miss to enjoy traditional Japanese style accommodation.
The thing I don't like here is that shops mostly close around 5PM, staff (both in hotel and shop) don't really speak English. They will try to explain to you, but in Japanese TT Also, trash bins are hard to find along the street.
I really enjoy the accommodation here, and the city is just too cute. You can take photos in almost every corner. This city is a MUST!

Yufu is not a big town and that is the beauty of this place.
Yufu is not a big town and that is the beauty of this place. The main shopping street Yunotubo is cosy and easy to stroll. There are many good cafes along the way. We enjoyed very much cafe Pepper and Anahata. Watch out for unusual snow that blocked the highway from Hakata to Yufuin. Otherwise it is easy to get to.

The traditional Japanese dinner is incredible!
The traditional Japanese dinner is incredible! I like Japanese food and the food we had there is definitely the best ever. The traditional Japanese breakfast was great too.
Location is good too.
We plan to come back next year with more family members!
Sadly I sayed one night only in Yufuin, but I really enjoyed my night there!
Jin is very friendly and welcoming, he drove me from the station to the guesthouse and again to the center of Yufuin. But anyway the gh is a nice walk 15 mins to the train station.
The view from the window of the room was amazing! Room was nice and bed comfortable, especially after a hot bath in the private onsen available for the guests. Peaceful and relaxin place.
Sometimes his cat is popping up for some cuddles, lovely!
Thank you for the beautiful experience
Loved every last but of this ryokan. Amazing views, food, and private onsen. really couldn’t have asked for more. I would come here again in a heart beat. This place was just majestical. Wished we stayed here another night. The cherry blossoms on the property made this place as japan as it can get. 5 stars across the board. Dinner and breakfast served in your ryokan. You never see anyone else on the property the second you get on the the property. The king suite worth every penny. Love it !!!
Excellent host! Has an onsen inside too, free! Far from the main shopping area, but they offer pickup at 6pm from the main Yufuin Station (which I didn't know, I walked so far, but it's ok, exercised!)
Also offers breakfast for $5!
Other than that, everything is great! Host has been hosting for 18 years now with his wife! So you also have a native host!
When you leave, they sing you a country song, how unique!!
Next to the main streets and restaurants. In the hotel, there is three nice onsens you can be in privately, then in the evening and night you can go when no one is using them. Free drinks in the hall, hot and cold. Mangas in Japanese and a few in English. Pet friendly (cats and dogs). Nice bedroom with tatami and futon beds!
Lovely and cosy hotel alongside a small river set in a stunning part of Yufuin with incredible views of the mountains. Friendly and helpful staff. Only a short walk from both the train station and the central part of Yufuin town. Also a really comfortable and relaxing onsen bath available for guests.
The reception lady is wonderful - greeted us with a big smile, explained the onsen, room and facilities, offered welcome drink, and then walked us to our room. Private onsen in-room is a bonus, so relaxing! Breakfast is also good with nice variety of food. Overall we had a very memorable stay!
The lovely Ryokan is nestled in the mountains with beautiful scenery and views of the changing colours of the mountains, clouds and sky at different times of the day. Enjoyed the private onsen with forest views and the public open-air onsen with mountain views.
Staff was exceptional and service was great. Hotel paid for our taxi ride from the rail station. Breakfast and dinner was GREAT!
Private onsen was terrific. We used it as much as possible during our short stay.
Beautiful Ryokan with big and comfortable rooms. Staff are friendly and onsen meals are delicious. We are allocated our own private room for meals. I will stay here again if I come to Yufuine.
The space was beautiful and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The private onsen was delightful and we enjoyed the short walk to the lake. it was a perfect place to stay in Yufuin.
Amazing hospitality from all the staff members, even before check in. There are also additional baths in the hotel, apart from your room onsen. Complete rejuvenation throughout our stay!
The ryokan is very well maintained, with really nice big tatami-room and private onsen overlooking the mountain. The staff is also very courteous and helpful. Great value in Yufuin.
Outstanding reception staff, beautiful facilities and delicious food. The hotel went out of their way to ensure our stay was a special experience. The private onsen was great.
Great stay at Ryokan Yufusan! Loved that we had our own private onsen in the room. Dinner and breakfast was delicious. The view of Yufu mountain from our room was spectacular
Nice property with spacious rooms with private onsen. Delicious breakfast and Kaiseki dinner. Free pre-arranged shuttle to and from hotel to Yufuin Station.
Beautiful private onsen and its time slot booking system, friendly staff, room with a nice view, facilities, traditional ryokan style, near the station.
