The Castle was really interesting and well worth a visit.
The Castle was really interesting and well worth a visit. There were some other small museums that were interesting but the man in the maritime ? museum went rambling on too much and we had to leave before we actually saw the boat and the smugglers route. Some pleasant walks along the coast and in the town.

We were amazed at how special Castletown is!
We were amazed at how special Castletown is! The castle is a must see; so well preserved, it is a constant in the background, with the sun shining on it. The community square in front of the George Hotel is a real asset, whoever thought of putting the ping pong tables, piano, table football and deckchairs is a genius! We loved the happy atmosphere of people enjoying themselves. The harbour is very picturesque, you can sit outside the Glue Pot in the sunshine and admire the view.. we enjoyed walking through the little streets with interesting and immaculate houses and also walking along the beach with rock pools and a number of light houses! We arrived by steam train and enjoyed trying out all the pubs in the town.

Nice location great bus service our reason for travelling to the Island was for the TT races easy walking distance to the track. Castletown is fairly quite more things to see in Douglas but as before it suited me for the location to what we went there to seeJamesUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10
Castletown has everything you need within it.
Castletown has everything you need within it. Good pubs and places to eat. To see the rest of the island you do need transport as there are many places of interest to visit including museums such as the TT museum at Ramsey or Murray's museum of around 150 motorbikes that comes with a cup of tea and welcoming staff who work there. Castletown is a great base for a visit to explore the island at your leisure and would recommend it to all.JeffreyUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10
Attractive small historic town.
Attractive small historic town. Several places to eat, walk and explore Two supermarkets open till late daily. Plenty of parking and good bus service we tried the noodle bar and fish and chip shop for food. But there is a Chinese takeaway an Indian restaurant and a pizza restaurant and The George hotel. There are other places nearby too that sell food .

Beautiful place with lots of things to do i.e. the Castle, House of Keys, Sea Museum and the steam railway. Public transport is also good for getting around the island if you don't have a car. It is also excellent for relaxing and a variety of eateries from budget to a high class restaurant The Tuscany which we especially enjoyed. We also enjoyed the surrounding area for walking Nothing to avoid, enjoyed everything
