Fantastic place to stay overlooking the Central Drakensberg. So peaceful being a few KMs off the main route into Champagne Valley. Staff were so helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and although was a bit chilly when I stayed, I imagine in the summer the swimming pools will be a blessing. Jason helped me book and offered some great advice on what to do in the area.

Treks, Trips and Trails, hotel in Champagne Valley

Offering views of the Bell Park Dam and the distant peaks of the Drakensberg Mountains, Treks, Trips and Trails features well-appointed self-catering chalets in the Champagne Valley.

We arrived to the friendliest welcome. We had everything explained to us regarding the property, as well as, where to go during our days; sites, activities, food etc. But it was when we got to the house we were staying in that our jaws, quite literally, dropped. The house was almost fairytale like, set into a view that would take pages to describe. It was nothing short of mind alteringly beautiful. If you are looking for a location that takes your breath away every time you look outside, this is the place.

Lots of accommodation options but it is getting more expensive. A number of eating out options now too - and most basic groceries and drinks can be bought in the valley without heading to Winterton where there is a Spar. Increasing number of activities on offer - Segways, Bell Park dam, golf, chocolate tasting, helicopter trips, quad bikes, Falcon Crest (birds of prey), reptile park, canopying, plane flips, hot air balloons, breweries, etc etc. But best is to find a place with a view and just relax, or hike. There are public hiking trails to sort all abilities starting from Monks Cowl and from resorts such as Drakensberg Sun. Dragonview Lodge was a new place we discovered - nice views from their restaurant - recommended.

I liked the view but it spoiled so bad during night time.

I liked the view but it spoiled so bad during night time. We didn't sleep the whole night. We were attacked by big rats the whole night. They were moving all over the camp tent, moving on top of the bed when we a sleeping, Opening pots, They poop on our left food. We booked for three nights but we spent only one night and ran away. We didn't spend our two nights. We complained to management to but they laughed at us. We checked out early and drive to Durban. I hate that place, it spoiled my birthday month. I caused me spend a lot money . I wanted a refund but no help.
