The Capital of the North

With an industrial past and a modern outlook, the complex fabric of Manchester is interlaced with interesting museums, English pubs and shopping centres.

Dash straight into the luxurious Selfridges and Triangle departments stores before checking out the old-English charm of the Shambles.

Manchester wouldn’t be the same without its 2 famous football clubs and fans can go wild at either of the Old Trafford or City of Manchester Stadiums. Music fans will adore the many shows performed at the Manchester Arena, the largest of its type in Europe, and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

The cultural foundations of this predominantly red-brick city are on display at the Manchester Museum and the People’s History Museum. If art is you preference, the extensive pre-Raphaelite collection at the Manchester Art Gallery is a sight to behold.

My home city, so a little biased. An excellent modern city with a great mix of new and old architecture. As it’s a relatively small city, it’s easy to navigate and offers all the big name shops. An abundance of nightlife with a great choice of restaurants and bars. Something for everyone

I wouldn't say that Manchester is full of must see iconic buildings etc, but it has enough to make it interesting. The mix of ancient and modern co-existing gives the place an air of perpetual progression. Definitely a city that is proud of it's past (warts and all), but with a very positive vision for the future. Impressive!

This hotel gets a really bad rep when really it is wonderful. I’ve never had any issues with this place. The staff are always wonderful. They’ll chat to you all day and check you in nice and quick. Location perfect. Right bang in Manchester City centre. I had booked for a gig in the city and needed somewhere central to Piccadilly for when I went to wales the day after. Room had no faults whatsoever. The windowless room had air con and tea and coffee in ect. Just basic things that you’ll need. Great because I was out for most of it.

I have stayed at this hotel twice in the past month and will hopefully be returning every time I travel to Manchester. I used to stay at either the Hilton hotels or Premier Inn if I was staying for the whole week due to the price but this hotel just has everything I need, it's nice and clean and the staff are lovely. There's room service (although I haven't used it yet), the location is ideal with sainsburys and tesco just a short walk away as well as other food stores and the room has such lovely character to it.

The hotel was excellent. It was clean, well maintained and the decor was excellent. Staff were lovely. We got a free upgrade to stadium view for my husband’s birthday which meant he was very happy indeed. Parking was easy to find and in secure location. The location is great - 5 min walk to the tram stop and then a short journey into Manchester City centre or 5/10 min walk to a retail park with a nandos or fast food restaurants.

The location was good. Less than a 10 min walk from Manchester Picadilly station and around the corner from several pubs and restaurants. The price seemed reasonable as compared to similar hotels in the neighborhood The room was adequately appointed... Not luxurious (obviously not at that price). The bed could have been a bit thicker. It felt a lot less plush than most other hotels in the same price range

The hotel receptionist at the time (I think he was called Adam) was absolutely amazing. He gave us some amazing advice on how best to get to Manchester city centre and which part of the Christmas market to aim for. The spa was amazing, and just what we needed for the short break. The room was small, but catered to our needs as the bed was extremely comfortable. Would highly recommend staying here.

It was clean, comfortable, the staff were lovely and really helpful when asked about or for anything. And the hotel is- literally- in the centre of Manchester city centre in Piccadilly gardens where it's really noisy but you don't hear anything in the hotel. As a woman who was alone, i felt totally safe.which is another massive plus as any female traveller will know. Highly recommend.

A beautiful new hotel in an excellent location. Only a 10-minute walk to Manchester United's famous Old Trafford stadium. Just 10 minutes by taxi to the city centre with its many restaurants and pubs. The cricket stadium is right next to the hotel. This hotel is a great value for money; £15 a person got me and my partner a bed and bathroom on the same day as we booked. The main thing we liked was the location - Salford is just a 25 minute tram ride from Manchester city centre, and the tram station is a two-minute walk from the hotel.
