Manchester is a great city to explore on foot.
Manchester is a great city to explore on foot. The architecture is spectacular, just look up! We loved the converted warehouse and industrial areas such as Depot Mayfield. There was a great free exhibition of David Hoyle's art at Aviva Studios. We found the Industrial and Science Museum fascinating, linking the city's past and present creativity.
Cool independent bars and restaurants, including The Smithfield Social and the Mews Bar and Charcuterie in Deansgate Mews. Delicious modern Indian cuisine at Asha's.

We visited as I was doing Manchester Marathon.
We visited as I was doing Manchester Marathon. We did a little shopping and went to a couple of restaurants whilst we were there. The people of Manchester at our hotel, in the places we visited and during the Marathon were all very friendly and we would definitely visit again!
The Black Lion Hotel proved a wonderful location for a three-day visit to Manchester, a marvellously vibrant city. The staff were attentive from the outset, the room was amazingly spacious and clean, the bed was a delight and the bathroom a huge pleasure to use. I expected there to be noise from the pub below but heard nothing. It’s all great value for money!
This hotel is in the best location I could possibly imagine in Manchester! Right in the center of town with tons of stuff nearby and walkable to see! Also it is quite great about fulfilling whatever requests you have, and it's very convenient with the mini fridge and the awesome bathroom! I was staying on a very high floor so also the view was phenomenal!
Absolutely incredible hotel. The decor is phenomenal, but the staff are even better. From front of the desk to waiters, everyone so friendly and welcoming. Special shout-out to the cleaning team, they were super polite, very efficient and the room was always spotless. Great bunch of people. I`ll definitely will be back next time im in Manchester.
Hotel is in a good location for Manchester City centre in particular Piccadilly. Room was comfy, bed was very nice. Bathroom was modern and shower was fantastic. Any interactions with staff were fantastic, they asked us on check in if we had any preferences for room, we asked for quiet and high floor and we received this which was great.
The room was very adequate. The bed and the pillows were warm and comfortable and the television was a good size and well located.
Breakfast was excellent, with pleasant and helpful staff. The dining lounge was well located with a lovely view of Manchester City Centre.
The Hotel location was perfect for getting around.
Hotel is located reasonably close to Manchester city centre, in a fairly quiet residential area. The rooms are basic, but clean and perfectly ok. Mattress is bit hard, but so terrible you can't sleep. The rooms have air con & heating which is a massive plus. Wifi works well enough to stream video and load sites quickly.
Evening meal and breakfast very good in nice surroundings. Staff were friendly and helpful. Asked for walk in shower which we got! Position of hotel perfect for station ( we got train home) and also for parts of Manchester we wanted to visit. Cookie we were given on arrival was warm and delicious thank you.
It is conveniently located near Manchester Piccadilly. The free shuttle is in front of the aparthotel. It was clean and spacious. The staff were amazing and helpful. There were restaurants conveniently next to the aparthotel, halal food included. It was a great stay!
Stayed at the hotel twice while passing through Manchester. A very basic hotel, but great value and very close to the train station. The reception ( Kevin ) was absolutely fantastic and the reason we chose to stay here the second time. Great for an overnight stay.
The hotel is everything what you need! 3 minutes away from the tram stop to the central Manchester. It take about 7 minutes straight to the City Centre. Great choice breakfast, access to the coffee machine and tea. Staff very helpful and kind. Room clean!
An excellent location with friendly staff. The feel of a premium hotel but the price of a semi budget hotel. Overall, I can’t complain. I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in Manchester Central without wanting to break the bank.
Free parking on site which was a bonus, check in easy, room great size and incredibly quiet (especially considering the location near city centre Manchester), breakfast was fantastic and one of the best we've had in a hotel for a while.
Quirky Hotel with lots of fun features like the swag bag...and tasteful decor
Staff were lovely and we had a good laugh with Concierge
Great view across the city centre
Probably the best hotel in Manchester!
Fantastic hotel, probably the best centrally located hotel in the city centre.
Close to everything bars, restaurants and shops.
Staff can't do enough for you and everything is done professionally.
Very central, close to the city centre, and walking distance to Manchester University.
The hotel building is really cool (amazing staircase) but quite run down.
Close to the main station.
The location of this hotel is fantastic. You are slap bang in the middle of Manchester city center. The staff were friendly even at 3am in the morning and the room was clean and tidy.
The Midland is one of my favourite hotels and i stay there most times i visit Manchester. Rooms superb and the breakfast is great with a fantastic choice.
